Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons (11-36) travel to Amway Center Friday to take on the Orlando Magic (9-40). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Pistons vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic have the worst record in the Association and have covered the spread in just one of their last six games. Orlando is 2-8 in its last 10 outings, one of which was a 97-92 loss to the Pistons in the Motor City Jan. 8. Orlando is 21-28 against the spread (ATS). The Magic’s 3-18 home record is actually worse than their road record (6-22).

The Pistons have covered four straight spreads and are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 outings.

While three of those seven covers have come as double-digit underdogs, they’re nonetheless keeping games close. Detroit is 24-23 ATS overall and 4-21 straight up (SU) on the road.

Pistons at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 107, Magic 104

Money line

SPRINKLE on the PISTONS (+133).

They’re the better team and have been a covering machine as of late. These teams rank within a few spots in turnover rate, true shooting percentage and defensive rating, all near the bottom of the league.

However, this game may be decided by a few points, so the Pistons’ significantly better free throw rate could give them the edge. Detroit is also the much hotter team and hasn’t played since Tuesday so should be well-rested.

Against the spread

BET on the PISTONS +3.5 (-110).

They say home-court advantage counts for around 3 points, so these teams would be about even on a neutral court.

With both teams missing key star players, it’ll be youth and role players that must step up. I trust players like F Saddiq Bey, who is averaging 15.9 points per game, more than guards Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight lean to the Under 212.5 (-112).

Both of these teams are .500 on the total. The Pistons are 23-23-1 O/U this season, and the Magic are 24-24-1 O/U.

That said, it’s two bad offenses and two bad defenses, so anything can happen. I’d stay away with Pistons as the best play in this game.

Chicago Bulls at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Chicago Bulls at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bulls (28-16) travel to Amway Center Sunday to take on the Orlando Magic (8-39). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bulls vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

At full strength, the Bulls are among the best in the Eastern Conference, but they’re being hit hard with the injury bug, losing three of their last four games. They’re 5-5 against the spread (ATS) over their last 10.

On the season, the Bulls have covered at a high rate, 26-18 ATS. They’re 12-10 straight-up (SU) on the road.

As for the Magic, they currently sit at the bottom of the East and are just 2-17 SU at home. They’ve failed to cover four straight, two as 11.5-point underdogs. Orlando is just 4-6 ATS over its last 10 games.

Bulls at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 108, Magic 101

Money line

PASS on the money line. While Orlando’s home struggles are too much to overcome, betting on the Bulls’ spread is the better value in this instance.

Against the spread

BET to the BULLS -3.5 (-108).

Chicago is still going to put two potential All-Star-caliber player on the court in F DeMar DeRozan and C Nikola Vucevic. DeRozan is in the MVP conversation as well.

Despite being short-handed, they’re still the better side. The Bulls rank seventh in offensive rating, and while their defense has slipped outside the top-10, it shouldn’t be too concerning as Orlando ranks 28th in offensive rating.

The Bulls also rank in the top-10 in turnover rate and top-five in true shooting percentage. They’ve been the far better side, and with the Magic having just two home wins, I’d rather side with the more proven, talented team.

Over/Under

“LEAN” on the UNDER 215.5 (-110).

The Bulls are down key scorers, and while I expect them to win, the players that are sidelined and the ones that brought the pace. Caruso and LaVine were terrific in transition with DeRozan and Vucevic more the premier halfcourt scorers.

As for the Magic, they rank 16th in pace and third-to-last in shooting. They’re 5-5 O/U the past 10 games.

Orlando Magic at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Philadelphia 76ers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (8-37) visit Wells Fargo Center Wednesday to take on the Philadelphia 76ers (25-18). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. 76ers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Unlike last season, the 76ers have struggled at home.

Just 9-9, they’ll look to push that above .500 at home as the East’s lowest-ranked team comes to town. The Sixers are 22-21 against the spread (ATS). They rank 10th in offensive rating and 12th in defensive rating.

As for the Magic, they’ll enter as heavy underdogs.

They’ve been surprisingly better on the road, 6-21 as compared to 2-16 at home. Orlando has the 25th-ranked defense and 28th-ranked offense. It is just 20-25 ATS this season.

Magic at 76ers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

76ers 109, Magic 95

Money line

PASS.

No regular-season NBA favorite is worthy of betting on at -1000. Similarly, the Sixers are the far more dominant side and should come away with the win, making the Magic’s +600 price also not favorable for bettors.

Against the spread

LEAN to the 76ERS -12.5 (-108).

The Magic enter on a two-game losing streak with losses to the Mavericks by 16 Saturday and to the Trail Blazers by 10 Monday. As for the Sixers, they’re one of the hottest teams in the NBA, 8-2 over their last 10 games.

The Magic rank 17th in pace and play inefficiently, ranking 28th in true-shooting percentage. The Sixers are the opposite. They rank 11th in true-shooting and do not turn the ball over often.

While Orlando only lost at home to Philly 116-106 back on Jan. 5, the Magic did put six in double figures with PG Cole Anthony’s 26 points leading the way, only to still lose by 10. I’d back Orlando to return to their mean shot-making and for the Sixers to cover.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 213.5 (-108).

The O/U is 1-1 in the first two meetings between these two teams this season.

The latter of which was when Orlando dropped 106 with Anthony exploding. Given the Sixers’ top-15 defense, I wouldn’t expect to see that type of dominance from the inefficient guard.

Also, the Sixers rank 27th in pace, so they don’t typically get out and run, primarily playing through MVP candidate C Joel Embiid.

Philadelphia is just 16-25-2 O/U while Orlando is 22-23.

Portland Trail Blazers at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (17-25) continue with the Eastern Conference road trip Monday when they take on the lowly Orlando Magic (8-36). Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET at Amway Center. Below, we look at the Trail Blazers vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Blazers have started to come out of an awful stretch. They have won three of their last four games after going 4-16 over their previous 20 outings. Portland has split the first two games of their six-game road trip and is coming off a 115-110 victory over the Washington Wizards Saturday.

The Magic snapped a 10-game losing skid Friday with a 116-109 road win over the Charlotte Hornets but then followed that up with a 108-92 road loss to the Dallas Mavericks Saturday. They are at home for one game against the Blazers before going on the road again.

Trail Blazers at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Trail Blazers 115, Magic 109

Money line

The Blazers are tied for the fewest road wins in the league. They are 3-14 away from home, but the Magic have the worst home record in the league at 2-15.

The Magic have not lost fewer than two consecutive games and are currently on a one-game losing skid.

The Blazers only have 17 wins this season but 12 have come when favored.

Take the TRAIL BLAZERS (-130).

Against the spread

The Magic are 20-24 ATS this season, which outdoes the Blazers’ 16-26 ATS mark. Portland has the second-worst ATS record in the league, but this is not a spread the Magic will cover without winning the game.

The Blazers are 10-12 ATS when favored this season and have covered the spread in three of their last four games.

The Magic are 5-3 ATS in their last eight games, but I can’t pick them to cover when they are only 1.5-point underdogs since I don’t expect them to win the game.

Take the TRAIL BLAZERS -1.5 (-115).

Over/Under

This is an interesting matchup in the fact that the Magic are 28th in the league in scoring, but the Blazers have the worst defensive rating in the league.

The Magic are only 24th in defensive rating, so there should be some points in this game. Even bad offensive teams can score points against bad defensive teams.

Take OVER 217.5 (-115).

Orlando Magic at Dallas Mavericks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Orlando Magic at Dallas Mavericks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (8-35) and Dallas Mavericks (23-19) each are on the second night of a back-to-back and face each other for the first time all season. Tip-off for their game tonight is 9:30 p.m. ET at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Mavericks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic have the worst record in the NBA this season with only eight total wins. They did, though, snap a 10-game losing streak Friday night with a 116-109 road win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks ended the Memphis Grizzlies’ 11-game winning streak with a 112-85 win on the road Friday night. The Mavericks have won seven of their last eight games.

Magic at Mavericks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Mavericks 106, Magic 98

Money line

PASS on the money line. The only bet worth taking is the Magic because of the potential payout, but they have won consecutive games only once all year. They are 6-20 and facing one of the hottest teams in the league right now. Don’t count on them winning.

As for betting the Mavs, I like them to win, but it isn’t worth betting more than six times what you can win.

Against the spread

Orlando has performed relatively well against the spread this season. They are 20-23 ATS this season overall. They have covered the spread in three straight games and five out of seven. They have beaten the spread four of the last six games they were underdogs by at least 10 points.

Dallas is 22-20 ATS this season and has not covered a double-digit spread this season as favorites.

Take the MAGIC +11.5 (-120).

Over/Under

Six of the Magic’s last nine games have gone Over the projected total.

Only one of the last nine games for the Mavs has gone Over the projected total. They have allowed only 94 points per game over their last nine.

Taker UNDER 209.5 (-112).

Orlando Magic at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Orlando Magic at Charlotte Hornets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (7-35) travel to Spectrum Center Friday to take on the Charlotte Hornets (23-19). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Hornets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Hornets are riding a four-game winning streak. They’ve scored over 100 in all four games and have topped 110 points twice. Charlotte has covered 4 straight and eight of its last 10.

The Hornets’ young backcourt duo of LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier has proven to be too much for opponents, especially when considering the ascension of F Miles Bridges.

As for the Magic, they’re just 19-23 ATS. They’re also just 5-20 overall on the road this season. In a two-game series against the Wizards, the Magic covered as 6-point and 7.5-point underdogs yet lost both matches.

Magic at Hornets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 124, Magic 106

Money line

PASS on the money line. The Hornets are the far better team, but any regular-season -800 favorite has no value. Similarly, I don’t see much value in the Magic to win.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the HORNETS -11.5 (-107).

Charlotte has been on a tear lately. The Hornets have been so good by getting out in transition and picking up the pace without turning the ball over.

The Magic turn the ball over at the 23rd-highest rate, and the Hornets should be able to abuse their inability to keep the ball, ranking second in pace. Charlotte also has the third-most points off turnovers per game.

Without many experienced ball handlers for Orlando, Charlotte should be able to have its way defensively. At 5-1 ATS, Charlotte has the league’s best cover rate as a home favorite.

Charlotte’s average margin of victory as a home favorite is 14.3. Expect a strong performance from the Hornets versus a banged-up Magic side.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 222.5 (-115).

While the Magic don’t rank top 20 in most categories, they actually are 18th in pace. Behind G Cole Anthony, Orlando looks to push the pace often. Microwave veteran G Terrence Ross typically helps boost their bench scoring as well.

That said, with the Hornets at 22-19-1 O/U and the Magic at 21-21 O/U, these two teams are among the 16 who’s played to the Over at a 50% clip or higher.

Considering the pace and style of teams, BET the Over 222.5 (-115) here.

Washington Wizards at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Washington Wizards at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (19-20) travel to Amway Center Sunday to take on the Orlando Magic (7-33). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Wizards vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

While the Wizards have covered 6 of their last 9, they’ve lost two straight, one to the Bulls and the other to the Rockets. Washington’s issues this season have primarily come on the defensive side of the ball, allowing the 20th-most points per game.

The Wizards rank 23rd in the NBA in net rating, so they’re a tad bit worse than their record indicates. However, they’ll be road favorites as the Magic are dead last in net rating.

The Magic are coming off a road loss to the Pistons, a game that came down to the last several possessions. The Magic have covered just 2 of their last 6.

PASS on the money line. The Wizards aren’t good enough to warrant being comfortable in -300. Similarly, the Magic are just 2-14 at home, giving their +230 little value.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the WIZARDS -6.5 (-115). The Wizards will, by far, have the best player on the court.

G Bradley Beal should be able to have his way with one of the league’s worst defenses. The Magic are just 3-5 ATS over their last 8 games, and those 3 covers have come as double-figure underdogs.

The Magic rank 17th in pace, which is far above average for their typical spot in most areas. However, the Wizards are allowing the fewest fast break points. The Wizards are going to impose their style on Orlando.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 220.5 (-110) as the Magic’s offense has been far too sporadic to bet on. Orlando’s offense has been held under 100 points in 2 of its last 3 games.

Also, pregame.com has over 95% of the money on the Over. While that will likely adjust as more bettors place their wager, the line has yet to budge. The sportsbooks like their position, and given the Magic’s struggles, I do too.

Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (7-32) travel to Little Caesars Center Saturday to take on the Detroit Pistons (7-30). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Pistons odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

In a battle of two of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons will welcome the Magic into a building they’ve played much better at this season, 4-13 overall at home.

Both teams have been among the league’s worst at covering the spread: Detroit is 17-20 ATS and Orlando is 17-22 ATS. Detroit will be without its top scorer, Jerami Grant.

With that in mind, wait to bet either way until the status of Orlando’s top players is known. The Magic’s top-two scorers this season are listed as questionable. Orlando has covered five of its last nine games.

Magic at Pistons odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 109, Detroit 106

Money line

“LEAN” to the MAGIC (+110).

Orlando’s leading scorer, Anthony, was also questionable on the team’s injury report against the Sixers and went out and put up 26 points. He should be expected to play.

If so, Anthony will be the best player on the court.

In a game between two of the least efficient teams in the NBA and also two that rank 23rd and 24th in opponents scoring, points may not be easy to come by.

Free-throw shooting could be a key difference in this game. The Magic shoot the 11th-best free-throw percentage and the Pistons give up the 26th-most free-throw attempts.

If Anthony is out, I’d pass this, but if he’s in, I’d consider Orlando the better play.

Against the spread

PASS on the spread. For the mere 2.5 points, I’d prefer the plus-money money line odds.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 212.5 (-110).

While Unders have been hitting a marginally higher rate, surprisingly, both these teams have seen more Overs hit. Orlando is 20-19 O/U while Detroit is 19-17-1 O/U.

More points than the projected total have been scored for both teams because of their defense. The Pistons have the 22nd-best defensive rating and the ninth-fastest pace while the Magic are 25th and 17th, respectively.

Both teams push the ball and play awful defense. With that in mind, I’d prefer the Over here.

Orlando Magic at Boston Celtics odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Orlando Magic at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (7-29) travel to TD Garden Sunday to take on the Boston Celtics (17-19). Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Celtics odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic have lost four straight and are just 2-11 over their last 13, failing to cover as 14-point and 15-point underdogs in a two-game series with the Bucks.

They’ve covered 4 of their last 10 games and are 15-21 ATS on the season. The Magic will be without leading scorer PG Cole Anthony and SG Jalen Suggs.

As for Boston, it is starting to get healthier after a stint with several players in the league’s health and safety protocols. However, it is still just 1-4 in its five games and sits ninth in the East. It is 19-16-1 ATS this season.

Magic at Celtics odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 112, Magic 99

Money line

PASS. The Celtics are the far more talented and healthier side, but at -850, it’s not worth betting at any unit.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the CELTICS -11.5 (-112).

Boston hasn’t had much success this season, but at home, it is a drastically better team.

It is 10-7 at home and just 7-12 on the road. The Celtics have the league’s ninth-best defensive rating and will also have the game’s two most talented scorers.

The Magic failed to put up much of a fight against the Bucks. So far this season, they give up 111.5 points per game while scoring just 101.7, so this spread is around the average difference of their games anyway.

The Magic are just 1-3 as double-digit underdogs over their last 10.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 215.5 (-108). The Celtics have a top-10 defense. Their offense ranks 20th, averaging 108 points per game.

This is more a fade of the Magic, who average the 28th-most points per game and also are among the five worst shooting teams in the league. The Celtics should be able to hold them under 100.

The teams are a combined 33-38-1 on the O/U this season.

Milwaukee Bucks at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Milwaukee Bucks (23-13) travel to Amway Center Thursday to take on the Orlando Magic (7-28). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bucks vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Bucks are finally looking like the championship-winning Bucks of a season ago.

After a rough start, the Bucks have won 7 of their last 10. They’re one of just four teams in the league (Warriors, Jazz and Heat included) to have both offensive and defensive both in the league’s top 10.

However, they’re just 16-20 ATS this season. Orlando isn’t much worse though at just 15-20. The Magic will be down numerous players including four of their top six scorers. They’ll enter as heavy underdogs.

Bucks at Magic odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 1:47 p.m. ET.

  • Against the spread (ATS): Bucks -14.5 (-107) | Magic +14.5 (-115)

Bucks at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bucks 120, Magic 100

Money line

PASS.

The Magic more than likely aren’t pulling off an upset, so their +750 price has little value. At the same time, a -1400 regular-season favorite is always a hard pass.

Against the spread

BET BUCKS -14.5 (-107). While it seems odd to bet on a team with this type of spread, the Phoenix Suns recently covered against the Oklahoma City Thunder as 16-point favorites Wednesday, winning by 18 (115-97).

The Bucks are just as dominant and have shown that they’ll blow teams out. Despite being on the road, the health and talent differences should allow Milwaukee to win big.

The Bucks have beaten the Magic by 17, 9 and 31 this season. Orlando is going to be too short handed to put up any fight.

Over/Under

BET OVER 217.5 (-115).

Getting the juice here, this is the side sportsbooks clearly like as well. This more than likely stems from the Magic’s inability to defend, ranking in the bottom five in the league in defensive rating.

They also rank in the bottom 10 in turnover rate. Against a Bucks team that ranks ninth in pace, this game should be played in transition. Milwaukee has topped 115 points in three of its last four games.

It’ll really be about whether or not Orlando can get its offense going. Having scored at least 100 in five of its last six games, its recent success gives hope that it can help the Over here.
