LOOK: Stanford to wear special alternate uniforms on Saturday vs. Oregon

Stanford looks to be going with the alternates on Saturday vs. Oregon. This is going to be a good-looking uniform matchup.

The Oregon Ducks aren’t the only team playing with uniform combinations this weekend.

While the Ducks announced on Wednesday that they would wear a green and white uniform combination this weekend against the Stanford Cardinal, the home team on Friday revealed it will not wear its traditional uniforms for the showdown with the Ducks.

Instead, Stanford will wear its alternate black uniforms: black helmets, black jersey and black pants.

Even Oregon fans have to admit this combo from the Cardinal is pretty sharp-looking, even if the Ducks are more well-known for their dress.

Last time Oregon went to Palo Alto for a game against Stanford, the Cardinal wore a very subtle throwback uniform that didn’t look far off from their normal uniforms. The last time that Stanford wore all black was in 2022 against the Washington State Cougars. They wore all black in 2017 against the Ducks, winning 49-7 at home.

LOOK: Ducks unveil white and green uniform combo for Stanford week

🌕🟢⚪️ The Ducks are going with green and white uni combo this week down at Stanford. 🌕🟢⚪️

It may not be considered one of the biggest rivalries for the Oregon Ducks, but if you were to dig into the numbers, it’s clear that the Stanford Cardinal stand as one of the top teams in the Pac-12 when it comes to having a long and rich history against the team from Eugene.

So with the Ducks going down to Palo Alto for this weekend’s rivalry game against the 1-3 Cardinal, they will certainly be dressed to impress.

On Wednesday night, Oregon unveiled their uniform combination for Week 5. The look will include a green helmet, white jersey, and green pants, with yellow wings on the helmet and green cleats.

The last time that Oregon went down to The Farm to face the Cardinal, it resulted in an overtime loss that ended the then No. 3 ranked Ducks’ undefeated season and set them on a more complicated path toward the Pac-12 Championship Game.

We will see if this trip can be different for the Ducks.

LOOK: Ducks unveil green and black uniform combo for Saturday showdown vs. Colorado

🟢⚫️🔥 The Ducks are bringing the heat with their uniform combo on Saturday, as well as with their thermal-reactive cleats 🔥⚫️🟢

With the eyes of the world turned to Autzen Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a marquee matchup against the No. 19 Colorado Buffaloes, the No. 11 Oregon Ducks are going to be looking crisp and clean for the occasion.

On Wednesday evening, the Ducks unveiled that they will be rocking a bold green and black uniform combination vs. the Buffaloes which will feature a black helmet, green top, and black pants.

The uniform combo will also be fit with state-of-the-art cleats that are being debuted by the team — the new thermal-reactive Nike Vapor Edge KF Dunks. More than just clean-looking new cleats, these spikes are thermal reactive to show vibrant colors when heat activated. The cleats start all black, but green, yellow, and blue hues start to show as they warm up.

On Wednesday, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning talked about his love for the new cleats and the interesting advantage they’ve posed for him as a coach so far.

The cleats also pay tribute to Oregon mega-donor Phil Knight and display Uncle Phil Knight’s nickname “Buck” on the heel of the shoe.

LOOK: Ducks unveil uniform combination for Week 3 vs. Hawaii

🟢🌴🟡 You knew the Ducks were going to pull out a bright combo for Week 3 vs. Hawaii with their uniforms 🟢🌴🟡

Earlier this week, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning admitted that he had no idea what uniforms his team was going to wear for the Week 3 game at home against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

“You’re not going to believe me, but I have no idea,” Lanning said. “I know that we’re going to look phenomenal, right? I can tell you that we’re going to look phenomenal, but I have no idea what we’re wearing.”

It turns out that Lanning was right. On Wednesday evening, the Ducks unveiled their uniform combination for Saturday’s game, the first matchup between Oregon and Hawaii in 29 years.

The Ducks will be wearing a green and yellow combo with gree helmets, green jerseys, and yellow pants. The combo was modeled by kicker Camden Lewis.

There has long been a close connection between the Ducks and Hawaii, be it from players or culture. Back in 2020, Oregon celebrated that connection with their “Ohana” jerseys worn against UCLA. The celebration of Polynesian culture had a helmet and gloves featuring a galaxy of stars including the Southern Cross, a constellation used to aid oceanic navigation in the Southern Hemisphere, along with many other nods to Hawaiian culture.

LOOK: Ducks announce clean white and silver uniform combination for Week 2 vs. Texas Tech

🟢⚪️🦆The Ducks are going with a clean look as they try to beat the heat down in Lubbock this weekend 🦆⚪️🟢

The uniforms for the Oregon Ducks in Week 1 vs. the Portland State Vikings were largely a hit, with fans loving the return of carbon fiber on the helmet wings.

The jerseys for Week 2 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders should go over just as well. On Wednesday evening, Oregon unveiled their jerseys for the upcoming game down in Lubbock, releasing images of a white jersey combination that includes silver helmets, white jerseys, and white pants.

The game on Saturday will be played at 6 p.m. local time in Texas, and 4 p.m. PT. The temperature is expected to be close to 100 degrees, so dressing in white will be beneficial for the Ducks trying to beat the heat.

LOOK: Ducks unveil splashy uniform combo for 2023 season-opener vs. Portland State

🟢🦆 The uniform combination for Oregon’s season-opener vs. Portland State just dropped 🦆🌕

Oregon Duck fans have been waiting patiently for eight months to watch their favorite team take the field again at the start of the 2023 college football season.

Now they know what their favorite team will be wearing once they step out onto Rich Brooks Field at Autzen Stadium Saturday afternoon to face the Portland State Vikings.

The Ducks unveiled their uniform combo for the Week 1 matchup on Wednesday evening, showing off an all-yellow color combo modeled by Jamal Hill.

The black helmet, yellow jersey, and yellow pants combo is a classic look that certainly is fitting for a season opener.

While a lot of Oregon fans were hoping that 2023 would be a year where new jersey templates were introduced, I can report that we will likely have to wait until next year for that to happen. Instead, the Ducks are planning a couple of one-off jerseys this season, with a variety of new helmets and cleats that will be introduced throughout the season.

Bo Nix describes process of choosing uniforms each week for Ducks

Getting picked to show off Oregon’s uniform of the week is a special honor, according to Bo Nix.

Every week during the college football season, there is a day during the week — usually on Wednesday or Thursday evening — when the Oregon Ducks announce what uniforms the are wearing for the upcoming matchup against their opponent.

Sometimes the combination is special, be it the pink Breast Cancer Awareness uniforms, or the eggshell white uniforms. Other times it sets the vibe for the week, be it a color-rush game against Washington, or a blackout game vs. California. No matter what the uniforms look like, though, it becomes a staple of the football season to see what the Ducks are going to be wearing each and every game.

On Friday at the 2023 Pac-12 Media Day, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix talked a bit about what type of decision-making and thinking goes into the process of choosing the jersey kits for each game of the year.

“Kenny Farr, our EQ guy, is incredible. He’s great at what he does. One of the best in the business,” Nix said. “He selects a few people before the season to get together and collab with what we want to wear. We know our options. We put things together. He sends it off from there so they can have it before so the fans and everybody knows what color to wear on the weekends.”

While that process is done before the season so that the school can let fans know what color to wear each and every week, the process of modeling the uniforms comes on a more week-to-week basis. Nix says that the honor of being selected to be a model is definitely something to celebrate.

“We get it finalized, get it passed, then each week somebody has a chance to put it on,” Nix said. “They’re probably chosen by Coach Lanning or somebody in the department. They’re chosen to go flash it around, put it on, have the outfit of the week or whatever, and show it off. It’s special if you get picked.”

Last year, Nix was picked to model the eggshell uniforms that were worn on the road against the Arizona Wildcats. He said that they were some of his favorite uniforms of the year.

“I got picked actually with my favorite last year, so it worked out great. It was the eggshell.”

There are rumors that the Ducks will be sporting a new uniform design for the 2023 season. No word has come out on when those uniforms will be released, but we will show them to you as soon as we can.

LOOK: Social media video hints at Ducks uniform combination for Holiday Bowl

Oregon hasn’t released the uniform combo for the Holiday Bowl yet, but a video on Instagram gave fans a sneak preview.

One of the biggest things that takes place during the football season in the world of Oregon Duck fans is the uniform release. It comes out at 5 p.m. PT on the dot, each and every Wednesday before the game. I set my watch to it and make sure to always be ready for the release.

So it became peculiar that on the eve of the Holiday Bowl, the Ducks were yet to release what jerseys they would be wearing against the North Carolina Tar Heels. No tweet, no color scheme, no hints at all.

That is until Tuesday night.

A social media post from freshman cornerback Jahlil Florence might have tipped the team’s hand. According to Florence’s Instagram story, it appears that the Ducks will be glad in white, with white helmets and cleats to go along with it.

As the away team, it comes as no surprise that Oregon will be wearing white, going up against the powder blue of North Carolina. There were some thoughts that the Ducks may pull out the apple green, which would make for one heck of a uniform battle.

Still, this color combo will be very pleasing on the eye as well.

We don’t have a full look at the jerseys, but from what we’ve seen so far, it looks like a similar uniform combo to the one worn in Week 4 vs. the Washington State Cougars. Here’s a quick look at those jerseys:

LOOK: Oregon Ducks unveil all-yellow uniforms for rivalry game vs. Washington

The Ducks are going to be dressed the part for this big-time matchup between No. 6 Oregon and No. 25 Washington.

All games at this point in the season hold a certain importance to them, but when you consider a rivalry game between two teams that have complete disdain for the other, the stakes get upped a little bit.

The Oregon Ducks are dressing for the occasion.

When No. 25 Washington comes to Eugene on Saturday to see the No. 6 Ducks, Oregon will be dressed to the nines, wearing all yellow from head to toe.

This game will be played mostly under the lights in Autzen Stadium, with a kick-off at 4 p.m. on FOX. Check out more photos released by the team of Oregon’s uniforms for Husky Hate Week:
