Former Oregon WR Seven McGee to take visit to Miami Hurricanes

Seven McGee will be taking a trip down to South Beach to see Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes.

It makes sense that the coach who brought Seven McGee to Oregon would now try to bring him to Miami as well, doesn’t it?

The Ducks saw McGee enter the transfer portal during the middle of the 2022 season, ending his run in Eugene after a season and a half. Now that McGee is searching for a new school, it looks like he’s going to be testing the waters down with Mario Cristobal, Oregon’s former head coach who recruited McGee to the Ducks.

McGee announced on Thursday that he would be taking a visit to the Hurricanes later this weekend.

At Oregon, McGee — the former No. 9 RB and No. 151 overall player in the 2021 class — never really found his fit in the offense, moving from running back to wide receiver. He ended his time with the Ducks with just 32 total touches for 215 yards and 1 touchdown.

We will see if he can find a fit in Cristobal’s offense down in Miami.

Transfer Portal Targets: WRs that the Oregon Ducks could target this offseason

A look at some of the most likely wide receivers for the Oregon Ducks to target in the transfer portal this offseason.

It’s transfer portal season, and that means that each and every day for the next month, a good portion of your news feed will be filled with players announcing that they are getting set to leave their current situations in search of greener pastures and more playing time.

Earlier in the week, we looked at some of the major needs that Oregon has for their roster this offseason, which includes quarterback, to wide receiver, to offensive line on the offensive side of the ball, and cornerback, safety, and defensive line on the other side of the ball.

While that’s a lot to tackle, we want to try and break things down at a more specific level. Here are some wide receivers who have entered the portal so far this year that the Ducks might look to go after:

This list will be updated as more players enter the transfer portal over the coming weeks.

Oregon RB Sean Dollars will enter the transfer portal

Sean Dollars is headed to the transfer portal. Dollars entered the portal last offseason but decided to return to the Ducks.

The Oregon Ducks are losing one of the members of their productive backfield, with the news that Sean Dollars is entering the transfer portal and leaving Eugene.

This does not come as a major surprise, as Dollars entered the portal last year after the season but decided to return to the Ducks once he got a chance to talk to Dan Lanning and the new coaching staff. However, the usage that Dollars saw in 2022 was not as high you some might have expected, with a lot of the workload going to both Bucky Irving and Noah Whittington.

Dollars had just 34 carries for 188 yards and a TD in 2022.

This is the second running back to enter the transfer portal for Oregon, with Byron Cardwell Jr. deciding to leave the Ducks earlier this month. We will likely see Lanning and his staff try to bring in at least a couple new rushers via the portal this offseason. The Ducks also have 4-star RB Dante Dowdell coming in the 2023 recruiting class as well.

Oregon Ducks Transfer Portal Tracker: Who’s leaving Eugene?

An updated tracker of all the Oregon Ducks players who have decided to enter the transfer portal and leave Eugene.

The transfer portal is officially open in the world of college football. For the next 45 days, players across the nation will be able to look at their situation and decide whether they want to stay on their current team or move to find a better fit.

With the addition of name, image and likeness in college sports now, the portal has become a version of NFL free agency, where some players may enter the portal and see what type of interest there is or what type of money they could get if they played elsewhere. Hundreds of players are expected to enter the portal, so it’s expected to be a busy time.

The Oregon Ducks will not be immune to players departing through the portal. We’ve already seen a handful of guys declare their intention to enter the portal before it even opened, and more will follow.

In order to keep up to date on everyone who is making a move, we threw together a tracker for you to stay tuned in. Here are the latest Oregon players to depart Eugene:

Oregon DL Brandon Buckner announces intent to enter transfer portal

Oregon Ducks defensive lineman announces that he plans to enter the transfer portal and leave Eugene.

With the transfer portal officially opening on Monday, December 5, it doesn’t come as a major surprise that there has been some movement on that front, especially for the Oregon Ducks.

While linebacker Jackson LaDuke declared his intent to enter the transfer portal on Sunday morning, defensive lineman Brandon Buckner followed suit and announced that he planned to leave Eugene on Sunday afternoon.

Buckner played two seasons with the Ducks, only seeing the field in three games, all of which came in 2021. Buckner had 5 total tackles and a fumble recover for the Ducks, but did not play at all in 2022 under Dan Lanning and his staff.

Breaking down Oregon’s roster needs as transfer portal sets to open

The transfer portal officially opens in mere days. Here are some areas where the Oregon Ducks could stand to improve.

December 5 marks one of the most important days on the college football calendar. The transfer portal will officially open on Monday.

In today’s era of collegiate sports, players now have the freedom to change schools at the end of each year and try to find a situation that is better suited for their career. With the addition of name, image, and likeness, it’s turned into a free agency of sorts, with players often entering the portal to try and see what type of deal they can get in order to play for a new team.

Whether you love it or hate it, that’s the way things are at the moment.

For the Oregon Ducks, it’s a system that will tend to benefit them. With a strong NIL collective allowing them to bring players to Eugene, and a national brand that gives talented players an opportunity to attract eyeballs on the field, a lot of athletes want to play for the Ducks. Look no further than cornerback Christian Gonzalez. The former Colorado Buffalo transferred to Oregon last season, played to the level of his talents, and is now being projected as a first-round NFL draft pick.

So are there other players who could follow a similar path to Eugene as Gonzalez? Absolutely. As the portal now opens, let’s take a look at some of the areas on the roster where the Ducks could stand to improve via additions from the portal.

Oregon Ducks DE Bradyn Swinson to enter the transfer portal, per report

Oregon DE Bradyn Swinson is entering the transfer portal and leaving the Ducks.

The Oregon Ducks got hit by the transfer portal again on Thursday, with the announcement that defensive lineman Bradyn Swinson will be entering the portal once it opens on December 5, according to a report from The Oregonian’s James Crepea.

Swinson, who played for three years with the Ducks, struggled to get on the field much in 2022 under a new coaching staff, playing just 144 total snaps on the year.

Swinson had a breakout season in 2021 with 3.0 sacks and 4.0 TFL but was unable to find the same production with the new coaching staff.

Going forward, the Ducks are going to need to find some help on the defensive line as they expect to lose some players to the NFL draft and via the transfer portal this offseason.
