Oregon fans, former players react to release of Ducks’ retro jerseys vs. Washington State

Oregon Duck fans have been waiting for this day since back in 2014 when the Marcus Mariota-led team took on the Washington Huskies at home.

The retro uniforms are officially back.

On Wednesday evening, the Ducks announced that they will be wearing the ‘Mighty Oregon’ retro uniforms this weekend during their homecoming game vs. the Washington State Cougars. It will be the first time that Oregon has played inside Autzen Stadium in over a month, with the last instance being against the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 4.

Oregon Duck fans have waited patiently since 2014 to see these uniforms again, and they’re finally getting their wish.

It was officially announced on Wednesday evening that the Ducks will break out their new throwback uniforms for this weekend’s homecoming game against the Washington State Cougars.

The uniforms, modeled by RB Bucky Irving, are a callback to the jerseys that Oregon wore in 2014 at home against the Washington Huskies, and they are made to honor the 1984 jerseys worn by the Ducks. The team took the opportunity during the bye week earlier this month to release a first look at these beloved jerseys that many fans claim as their favorites of all-time.

🟢🌕 WE GOT OREGON DUCK THROWBACK JERSEYS AGAIN 🟢🌕

I can’t say we saw this Sunday morning uniform unveiling coming from the Oregon Ducks, but based on what we were shown, it’s understandable the team went with a special time for these special threads.

The Ducks unveiled their “Mighty Oregon” throwback uniforms on Sunday, but did not specify when the jerseys would be worn.

Fans will notice these uniforms are a callback to the jerseys that Oregon wore in 2014 at home against the Washington Huskies, and they are made to honor the 1984 jerseys worn by the Ducks.

It would make sense to wear throwback uniforms against the Huskies once again, but it’s unclear if that will be the case since that game is on the road in Week 7, and road teams typically wear white.

However, the Ducks and Huskies have often gone with a “color rush” theme the past few years. Washington wore purple last year in Autzen Stadium while Oregon wore yellow.

Regardless of when they are worn, Oregon fans and the rest of the college football nation will fall in love all over again. Here is a closer look at the uniforms, followed by some fan reaction once they were unveiled.
