Fall Ball Takeaways: Phil Knight and Rob Mullens watch on as Ducks add speedy WR to roster

The Ducks added an Olympian to the WR room, and players showed off new bulk after the offseason. Our takeaways from Oregon’s 5th practice of the year.

The Oregon Ducks have been underway in the 2023 college football season for a week now, but Tuesday was the first time media members were allowed to watch for the first 20 minutes of the session.

With a whole host of new players coming to town since spring ball ended, this offered a chance to see some of the new freshmen and a handful of transfers that committed to the Ducks since the spring game. One addition to the roster on Tuesday came as a surprise. Oregon added one of the fastest men in all of college athletics as a walk-on.

With a chance to talk to head coach Dan Lanning, linebacker Jeffrey Bassa, and wide receiver Kyler Kasper later this afternoon following the practice, we will have more coming out this evening about the Ducks’ continuation of fall camp. For now, though, here are the biggest takeaways from the fifth practice of the season.

A freshman WR returned for Oregon, but a couple of absences remain on the offensive line ahead of the Georgia game. That and other takeaways from Wednesday’s practice:

Media members got one last glance at the Oregon Ducks before the team takes off to Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s season-opener against the defending national champions.

As usual, media members got to watch the first 15-20 minutes of practice which included a stretching period, special teams work, and some individual drills. Head coach Dan Lanning will meet with media members one last time after practice to give some final thoughts on the weekend.

Here are some of our biggest takeaways from the practice:

A few key offensive players were absent from Oregon’s practice on Tuesday. On that, and other takeaways from the session…

The Oregon Ducks got some game action on Saturday afternoon, lining up inside Autzen Stadium for their first scrimmage of the fall season. Unfortunately, there were a few key players — particularly on the offensive side of the ball — who were not present for the start of the practice that media members were allowed to watch.

At the scrimmage, the players got a chance to play fast and loose while showcasing what they’ve been working on throughout the entire offseason, as well as the first week of camp.

Oregon was back after it on Tuesday in a practice that was open to media members for the first 15-20 minutes. The Ducks practiced on Monday, but it was closed to the media. Here are some of the biggest takeaways we had from Tuesday’s practice:
