A long, long offseason is coming to an end at last.

While we got some reprieve during the spring with a fascinating look at how Dan Lanning and his new staff plan to operate in Eugene, the last 9 months have mostly been spent trying to get rid of the bitter taste that last season’s close brought Duck fans.

No longer will the Ducks be running the vanilla scheme that we’ve seen in Eugene over the past few years. Now a young coaching staff has come in and expectations are for things to be explosive. A lot has changed with the Ducks in the past year, but one thing will stay the same throughout the remainder of the season — our Ducks Wire Roundtable is here to get you ready for the upcoming matchup.

To help preview all of the action, Ducks Wire writers Zachary Neel, Don Smalley, and Andy Patton got together to make predictions, and offer opinions on what we might see. Man, it’s great to be back.

It’s been an especially long offseason for the Oregon Ducks, and one that has been filled with news and storylines. With one coaching staff out, and another one in, the past handful of months has been a whirlwind for Duck fans to follow.

But now it’s officially game week, and the Georgia Bulldogs are on the docket. This is not just any game, but a massive showdown with the defending national champions, and of course, the former team of Oregon’s new head coach Dan Lanning.

It’s sure to be an unbelievable atmosphere in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon, and one that will go a long way in determining what kind of season the Ducks have.

And while this week’s game is one of the most anticipated opening games in the history of the program, there’s a whole season to prepare for. In fact, Week 1 is just one step along a journey that will have many more important and potentially season-altering matchups the rest of the way.
