Injury Report: Pair of new Ducks could make Oregon debuts vs. Stanford

Injury Report: Pair of new Ducks could make Oregon debuts vs. Stanford

Considering Oregon is preparing to play its fifth game of the season, the injury list has been quite small, but it grew after last week’s 42-6 win over Colorado.

Fortunately, the injuries are still few and the Ducks should be able to overcome them, especially since they’re playing Stanford and a bye week is coming.

Oregon needs to come out of Palo Alto with not only a win, but also a smaller injury list. The Ducks will have two weeks to heal and prepare with a huge matchup with Washington.

The injury list is still very manageable for the Ducks, and they’ll have their little web toes crossed it remains that way Sunday morning. Here’s the list of banged-up Ducks heading into the game with the Cardinal.

Oregon Ducks Injury Report: Final look at player’s status heading into Week 2 vs. Texas Tech

Here is the latest look at some injury news for Oregon heading into the Week 2 matchup against Texas Tech.

The Oregon Ducks’ Week 1 game against the Portland State Vikings brought about more questions than it did answers when it comes to the player availability front. While there were some expected absences, like for Nishad Strother, Jestin Jacobs, and Casey Kelly, a handful of other players also sat out, be it for injury reasons or something else.

Fortunately, we were able to get a good idea of who is available and who is not by watching a couple of practices this week in Eugene. Most of the players who missed Saturday’s game were back at practice this week, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be ready to play down in Lubbock against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Here is the full updated injury report based on intel gathered by Ducks Wire  through watching practice and talking with coaches this week:

Oregon Ducks Injury Report: Lanning gives brief update on injured players

Oregon Ducks Injury Report: Lanning gives brief update on injured players

There were some notable absences for the Oregon Ducks in Week 1 against the Portland State Vikings, but it’s unclear which of the absences were for health reasons or not.

Based on the attendance at practice over the past couple of weeks, the fact that linebacker Jestin Jacobs, offensive lineman Nishod Strother and tight end Casey Kelly missed the game does not come as a major surprise. The absences of RB Noah Whittington, S Evan Williams, WR Kris Hutson, and LB Mase Funa were more surprising.

On Monday night, Dan Lanning met with media members in his weekly press conference and gave an update on the situation for a few players. Unsurprisingly, it was brief.

Initially, Lanning replied to the question about those players by saying that he was not going to answer any questions about anyone who did not play on Saturday. He said the same thing again when asked whether or not Hutson would be able to play this week.

For those who have followed Lanning’s career at Oregon, none of this comes as a surprise. He is often unwilling to share any information about players and their health, so this is par for the course.

Media members will be able to take in the first 20 minutes of practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, so we will get a better sense of who is present or absent for the Ducks.

I will have an injury report come out later in the week with more details.
