The college football preseason All-American teams and watch lists are wrapping up with the opening kickoff coming this weekend and a member of the Florida Gators earned a mention on On3’s Preseason True Freshman All-American team roster.
Five-star 2024 recruit LJ McCray, a 6-foot-6-inch, 275-pound edge defender out of Bradenton (Florida) IMG Academy, earned a spot on the list which was compiled by On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. the blue-chipper was named the Anthony Muñoz Lineman of the Year Award winner at the All-American Bowl in January after wrapping up a superlative senior season with IMG Academy.
According to head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] during a press conference a couple of weeks ago, McCray is expected to see significant playing time during the upcoming campaign.
On3’s scouting report
“LJ McCray was one of the biggest senior risers in the 2024 cycle by way of a dominant final prep campaign,” Power offered.
“He is a top physical talent and has outstanding size at 6-foot-6, around 280 pounds. I’m sure he has continued to fill out at Florida. He has plus-length, he’s extremely strong and plays with a high-end effort level. His father is a college football coach and he just knows how to play with his athletic gifts and understanding of the game.
“It’s not a shock to learn that he is set to make an impact at Florida early on.”
