Hawks guard Trae Young announces he has joined Klutch Sports

One of the most exciting young stars in the NBA has decided to join Omar Wilkes and Rich Paul on the Klutch Sports team.

After lots of speculation about what All-Star Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young might do after his agent Omar Wilkes left Octagon to become the head of basketball at Klutch Sports, Young made the announcement that he is joining Klutch and following his agent to join the agency started by Rich Paul, on Friday afternoon.

Young shared the news on twitter saying that, he’s just getting started but that Klutch is “different.” Yahoo’s Chris Haynes reported yesterday that Klutch was the frontrunner to land Young after he informed Octagon he would be parting ways with them.

LeBron James himself has long been a big fan of Young and his game. Young was a camper at LeBron’s basketball camp since he was an 8th grader and during Young’s one year at Oklahoma, LeBron was one of his biggest fans. So, while it took some big moves, a unity between James and Young seems to have been in the cards for some time.

Klutch Sports favorite to land Trae Young after he leaves Octagon

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that Klutch Sports are the likely landing spot for the Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard.

Just when you think Klutch Sports can’t keep growing, they add another All-Star player. And while it’s not quite official that Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young will be joining La Familia Klutch, Yahoo’s Chris Haynes reports that Klutch Sports is the likely landing spot for Young after his previous agent at Octagon, Omar Wilkes, joined Klutch as their head of basketball.

Wilkes had been at Octagon for the past 8 years and represented Young, among others, such as Toronto’s OG Anunoby and Young’s Hawks teammate Cam Reddish. He is also the son of Los Angeles Lakers legend Jamaal Wilkes.

Klutch announced the addition of Wilkes yesterday and Young reportedly notified Octagon of his decision.

Trae Young considering ‘all options’ after agent leaves for Klutch Sports

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that Trae Young may terminate his contract with Octagon after agent Omar Wilkes joined Klutch Sports.

The addition of agent Omar Wilkes to run the basketball department of Klutch Sports is already creating ripple effects across the basketball world, including a decision that will be made by one of the league’s most exciting young stars.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Trae Young is considering leaving Octagon, where he was previously represented by Wilkes. Young will likely have no shortage of suitors, including Klutch.

The possibility of Young joining Klutch Sports already has Lakers fans turning their wheels about potentially adding him to their team.

LeBron James himself has been a big fan of Young’s for a long time, as Young was a camper at LeBron’s basketball camps when he was an 8th grader. ESPN reported on Wednesday morning that Wilkes would takeover the Klutch Sports basketball division to allow CEO Rich Paul to have more influence on other parts of their rapidly growing business, including NFL and MLB players.

Klutch Sports hires new head of basketball, Rich Paul to focus on CEO duties

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Rich Paul is bringing in more help for basketball, to allow him to operate the whole business.

As part of the continued growth of Klutch Sports, founder and CEO Rich Paul made a move to bring in veteran basketball agent Omar Wilkes to be the head of the Klutch basketball department, allowing Paul to focus more on being the CEO of the entire business, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The connection not only allows Paul to expand his reach throughout the company, but Wilkes is also a part of the Lakers family so to speak, as the son of Lakers legend Jamaal Wilkes. Wilkes also recently landed Anthony Edwards, who could be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 Draft, joining fellow 2020 draftee Tyrese Maxey.

Klutch also had three first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, including two of the top three picks, Chase Young and Jeff Okudah. Yesterday, Klutch’s baseball division announced the addition of 2019 AL batting champion Tim Anderson of the Chicago White Sox.

While Klutch is firmly entrenched in basketball and expanding to the NFL and MLB, their influence in the sports world is only growing.

“I think I should go number one, no doubt,” Edwards told 247Sports. “That’s the only place I think I should go.” Edwards signed this week with Octagon agent Omar Wilkes for his professional representation, per multiple sources.
