Broncos worked out 4 players this week

The Broncos worked out four players on Thursday and signed Austin Ajiake after placing Jonas Griffith on injured reserve.

After losing inside linebacker Jonas Griffith to a season-ending torn ACL, the Denver Broncos worked out four players on Thursday.

The Broncos worked out Austin Ajiake, Chris Garrett, Breeland Speaks and “Olasunkanmi,” according to Aaron Wilson and Mike Klis. “Olasunkanmi” is presumably how Ola Adeniyi’s name showed up on the NFL’s transaction wire.

Denver ended up signing Ajiake. The Broncos had an open spot for Ajiake on the 90-man offseason roster after officially placing Griffith on injured reserve on Thursday.

“We liked him,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said of Ajiake. “We felt like he had good athletic traits. We felt like he could help us in the kicking game. We brought him back for a workout with the other guys, and we thought he did pretty well.”

Meanwhile, wide receiver Tim Patrick (Achilles) underwent successful surgery on Thursday. Patrick is now facing a six-month recovery timeline. If all goes well, the veteran will be able to return before training camp in 2024.

Ex-Titans OLB Ola Adeniyi fails physical for Steelers, remains free agent

It looks like Ola Adeniyi will not be joining his former team after all.

After the Tennessee Titans somewhat surprisingly parted ways with outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi recently, he was set to join the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, that will not happen after all, as Adeniyi has failed his physical for his former team and remains a free agent, according to ESPN’ Adam Schefter.

It isn’t clear why he flunked the exam, but Adeniyi had been dealing with a neck injury for much of the season before he finally returned in Week 13. He was inactive in Week 14 but wasn’t listed on the injury report.

Adeniyi was originally signed by the Titans in 2021, and was then re-signed in 2022, ultimately appearing in 19 games over a season-plus, tallying 2.5 sacks, all of which came in the first three weeks of last season.

On top of being a backup on defense and a key special teams contributor, Adeniyi was also named one of six captains prior to the start of this season.

Prior to his stint in Nashville, Adeniyi spent three seasons with the Steelers, playing mostly on special teams.

Steelers reuniting with ex-Titans OLB Ola Adeniyi

Ola Adeniyi is going back to where his NFL career began.

After being waived by the Tennessee Titans in recent days, it didn’t take long for outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi to reportedly latch on with another team, and it’s one he’s quite familiar with.

According ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who cites Adeniyi’s agents, the veteran outside linebacker is signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team Adeniyi spent the first three seasons of his career with.

It isn’t clear if he’ll sign on to Pittsburgh’s practice squad or 53-man roster, though.

Adeniyi departed Pittsburgh in 2021 when he signed with the Titans in free agency, a team he also spent the majority of the 2022 campaign with.

The Toledo product served as a backup edge rusher and special teams ace for the Titans over a season-plus, tallying 2.5 sacks, all of which came in 2021.

However, his 2022 campaign has been riddled with injury, and Adeniyi was unable to replicate his early success in the pass-rush, as he hasn’t notched a sack since Week 3 of last season.

Ola Adeniyi says goodbye to Titans in social media post

On Monday, Ola Adeniyi said goodbye to the Titans, who originally signed him in 2021.

On Monday, the Tennessee Titans continued culling their roster in the wake of firing general manager Jon Robinson, as the team parted ways with both outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi and linebacker Joe Schobert.

The waiving of Adeniyi was somewhat of a surprise, as he was often praised by coaches, was a good special teams player, and he provided depth at a position where the Titans need it.

But on the flip side of that coin, Adeniyi hadn’t notched a sack since Week 3 of last season, and he had issues staying healthy this year, playing in just three games due to a neck injury.

He finally returned to the lineup in Week 13 but was a healthy scratch in Week 14 after the team acquired Tarell Basham.

After news of Adeniyi’s release broke, he took to social media to thank the Titans for his season-plus in the two-tone blue.

Adeniyi will now hit waivers on Tuesday. He’ll be a free agent if he goes unclaimed.

Tennessee Titans release Ola Adeniyi, Joe Schobert

The Titans have released Ola Adeniyi and Joe Schobert.

The Tennessee Titans made a pair of roster moves on Monday, releasing outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi and linebacker Joe Schobert.

A 2021 free-agent signing of the Titans who was re-signed in 2022, Adeniyi appeared in 19 games in that span, but just three this season after dealing with an injury that sidelined him from Week 3 until Week 13.

On top of his duties on special teams, Adeniyi showed some flashes of being an impact backup edge defender in his first season in Nashville, notching 2.5 sacks.

However, he wasn’t able to replicate that or stay on the field in 2022, and the writing was on the wall for him after being a healthy scratch in Week 14.

Schobert was signed to the team’s practice squad earlier this season and was eventually promoted to the active roster. He appeared in six games and tallied 13 tackles and one forced fumble.

The Titans will return to action on Sunday in Week 15 when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers.

Titans activate OLB Ola Adeniyi from IR among five moves

Titans OLB Ola Adeniyi is set to make his return after a nine-game absence.

The Tennessee Titans announced a grand total of five moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 13 battle against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.

The team has activated outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi from injured reserve. Adeniyi was designated to return earlier in the week and is set to play in his first game since Week 2.

In order to make room for Adeniyi on the roster, the Titans waived kicker Caleb Shudak, who filled in for veteran Randy Bullock in Week 12. Shudak made three of four field goals in the Titans’ 20-16 loss to Cincinnati.

Shudak’s fate was sealed once Bullock, who had missed two games in a row, was deemed healthy enough to play this week. It’ll be interesting to see if the Titans try to bring Shudak back on the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Now, a look at all five of the moves Tennessee made ahead of Sunday.

Titans designate Ola Adeniyi to return from IR

The Titans designated OLB Ola Adeniyi to return from IR on Wednesday.

The Tennessee Titans have begun the process of bringing back outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi. The team announced on Wednesday it has designated Adeniyi to return from injured reserve.

This opens the 21-day window for Adeniyi to return to practice and be activated off the list. If he isn’t activated in those 21 days, the outside linebacker would be out for the rest of the season.

Adeniyi hasn’t appeared in a game since Week 2 after suffering a neck injury. He played in the first two games of the season, recording one tackle.

Adeniyi’s eventual return will give the Titans some much-needed depth at outside linebacker and a special teams ace. Tennessee has just two true outside linebackers on its roster currently.

We’ll see if Adeniyi can return in time for Tennessee’s next game, which is on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, but that is not guaranteed to happen, as we’ve seen with other players this season.

Titans injury updates: Kyle Philips, Ola Adeniyi might practice this week

The Titans might see two players on IR return to practice this week, head coach Mike Vrabel said on Monday.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel provided some injury updates on key players going into a massive Week 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

Center Ben Jones, who missed his second straight game and just the third of his career in Week 12, remains in the concussion protocol. Of course, Tennessee missed Jones badly in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Kicker Randy Bullock’s status remains up in the air, but Vrabel did say he is feeling better. It’ll be interesting to see if the Titans go back to Bullock or stick with Caleb Shudak once the former is healthy.

Some good news: it looks like the Titans may see wide receiver Kyle Philips and outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi return to practice. The pair are both on injured reserve and their returns would be welcomed to say the least.

Tennessee needs all the help it can get on offense, and Adeniyi provides valuable depth as an edge defender, as well as great special teams play.

One player we didn’t hear anything about was defensive lineman Denico Autry, who sat out Sunday with a knee injury. The most recent report stated Autry wouldn’t miss the rest of the season, but there’s still no timeline there.

Titans place OLB Ola Adeniyi on IR, reportedly add S Josh Thompson

With Ola Adeniyi going on IR, the Titans now have 12 players on the list.

The Tennessee Titans added yet another to their long list of players currently on the injured reserve list.

The team announced on Monday that is has placed outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi in IR, meaning he’ll miss at least the next four games. Adeniyi, who hasn’t played since Week 2, has been dealing with a neck injury.

With Adeniyi added, the Titans’ IR list is now 12 players deep.

While the team didn’t announce the move today, the Titans are signing safety Josh Thompson off the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Thompson has yet to appear in a game.

It has been a busy day for the Titans, who not only swapped out Josh Gordon for C.J. Board on the practice squad, but also announced the details of their agreement on a new stadium with the city of Nashville.

Coming off a bye, Tennessee will host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7.

Titans injury updates: Dontrell Hilliard, A.J. Moore, Ola Adeniyi

Some injury updates after the Titans’ Week 1 loss.

The Tennessee Titans dropped their season-opener to the New York Giants on Sunday, 21-20, and the team suffered some injuries during the contest.

The good news is all of the team’s key players appear to have come out of the game unscathed, but we’ll know more once the first injury report is released Thursday.

For now, the three players in question are running back Dontrell Hilliard, safety A.J. Moore, and outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi.

Of course, information is always limited at best when it comes to Titans players’ injuries, but here’s what we could scrape together after Week 1.
