Oklahoma at Kansas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma Sooners at Kansas Jayhawks odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) travel to meet the Kansas Jayhawks (1-5, 0-3) Saturday at David Booth-Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kan. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET. Below, we look at the Oklahoma vs. Kansas odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Sooners listed QBs Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler as co-starters last week against TCU, but it was all Williams. And he completed 18-of-23 passes for 295 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions while running for 66 yards and a score, so it looks like head coach Lincoln Riley made the right choice.

Oklahoma’s offense is on another plane right now, rolling up 107 total points across the past two outings. The defense has been suspect, however, yielding 31 or more points in three consecutive games.

The Jayhawks were thumped 41-14 at home against Texas Tech, and Kansas has been dusted by 19 or more points in five straight losses since a 17-14 opening-game win over FCS South Dakota back on Sept. 3.

Oklahoma at Kansas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 59, Kansas 13

Money line

Oklahoma (-100000) is going to bury Kansas (+1700), even though the game is in Lawrence. It wouldn’t matter where these teams played, one is a national championship contender, and the other is a perennial doormat.

AVOID, and look to the spread.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA -38.5 (-115) is the play, as Williams has the offense running like a well-oiled machine. The only question is whether the defense can finally shut somebody down.

Kansas +38.5 (-105) has shown an ability to move the ball against lesser teams, and OU has yielded 31 or more points in three straight, and four of seven games overall. Still, the Sooners should crush them.

Over/Under

OVER 66.5 (-112) is the play here, and Oklahoma should do most of the heavy lifting. It’s hard to imagine the Sooners not landing at least in the 50’s, if not flirting with a 60-burger. Kansas is terrible, getting dusted 59-7 at Iowa State three weeks ago. Expect a similar result, and then some.

Oklahoma at Kansas: Three things to know

  1. Oklahoma opened the season with wins in five of the first six games straight up, but they have dropped two of the past three, including a 76-61 loss at Baylor last time out on Wednesday as 11.5-point underdogs. The Under has cashed in five of the past six for Oklahoma.
  2. Kansas bounced back after getting roughed up against Texas on Jan. 2, taking out their aggression on TCU in a 93-64 win on Jan. 5 as 6.5-point favorites. The Jayhawks have covered four of the past five after going 1-4 ATS in their first five games against the number.
  3. Kansas G Marcus Garrett, who is averaging 9.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals per game, is a question mark due to a head injury. He leads the team in assists and steals.

Oklahoma at Kansas: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kansas 81, Oklahoma 70

Money line (ML)

Kansas (-350) is expected to roll at home against Oklahoma (+260), but tossing up three and a half times your potential return is not a good long-term strategy. The only way you can justify risking that kind of scratch is tossing KU into a multi-team parlay. Even then, it’s a questionable play. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

KANSAS -7.5 (+100) is a strong play at even money, whether Garrett is able to go or not. They have covered four of the past five games overall, while Oklahoma +7.5 (-120) is coming off a 15-point loss at Baylor, and they’re 3-5 ATS across its past eight overall. The Sooners have struggled on the road, too, covering just two of their past seven away from home.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 144.5 (-110) is a good play, cashing in nine of the past 13 at Allen Fieldhouse for the Jayhawks. The Over is also 20-5-1 in their past 26 at home against teams with a losing road record. While the Under has hit in five of the past six for Oklahoma overall, the Over is 5-1-1 in their past seven on the road.
