Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. Despite just four losses over the last two seasons, Oklahoma has covered the spread only five times in its last 15 games.
  2. Oklahoma is averaging the eighth-most passing yards per game this season at 352.8. Meanwhile, Texas Tech is allowing 337 passing YPG. Look for a ton of combined passing yards Saturday evening.
  3. Texas Tech has covered the spread in five of its last six games against Oklahoma.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma 42, Texas Tech 21

Money line (ML)

Oklahoma (-589) is a huge favorite. While the Sooners have won eight-straight games over the Red Raiders, it’s tough to trust this team given its young quarterback and poor defense. Expect Oklahoma to win, but PASS on the money line as the odds just aren’t favorable enough to take the Sooners.

Against the spread (ATS)

OKLAHOMA (-15.5) shouldn’t have a problem scoring at will. It’s just up to its defense to slow down Texas Tech’s offense. Provided it gets a few stops, expect Oklahoma to win by 20 or more in this game as it’s clearly the more talented team. Back OKLAHOMA (-15.5).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at an absurd 67.5 points, which feels a bit high despite Oklahoma averaging 40 points per game this season. Texas Tech’s offense has been up and down as it was held to only 15 points against Iowa State a few weeks ago. Expect the Red Raiders to score into the 20s but for the UNDER 67.5 to ultimately hit at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Oklahoma at TCU: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 1:53 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Oklahoma -239 (bet $239, win $100) | TCU +190 (bet $100, win $190)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Oklahoma -6.5 (-110) | TCU +6.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 59.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

Oklahoma at TCU: Three things to know

  1. Oklahoma has failed to cover the spread in eight of its last 11 games. Because of their defense, too often games are closer than their talent indicates.
  2. The Over has hit in nine of the last 13 games for TCU as the Horned Frogs defense has dropped off quite a bit over the last few years. They’re now a team that struggles to get opponents off the field and it’s a big reason why the Over has become such a popular pick.
  3. Oklahoma has won 18 of its last 20 road games as the offense usually travels well against big-time opponents.

Oklahoma at TCU: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Oklahoma 35, TCU 27

Money line (ML)

OKLAHOMA (-239) is a money line favorite over TCU despite being on the road. The Sooners already have two losses on the season, but their potent offense makes them a tough out each and every week. While there isn’t a ton of value on the money line, the Sooners are still the right pick this week.

Against the spread (ATS)

OKLAHOMA -6.5 (-110) is a touchdown favorite Saturday afternoon and it’s not hard to understand why. The Sooners are averaging nearly 42 points per game and they have covered the spread in four of the last five meetings between these two teams.

Expect this game to be close throughout as Oklahoma’s defense will keep any team around, but look for the Sooners to ultimately win by 7 or more points in this contest.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this week is set at 59.5 points and that feels low considering how well each offense has played this season. Oklahoma has one of the best offenses in college football and TCU is averaging 27 points per game.

Look for both teams to approach 30 points, if not more and for the OVER 59.5 (-106) to hit at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
