Chiefs 2024 offseason workout schedule revealed

Take a look at the #Chiefs’ 2024 offseason schedule to see when the team will complete its offseason training.

The Kansas City Chiefs are back in action on the field following their Super Bowl LVIII victory in preparation for a potential three-peat.

The NFL announced start dates for the offseason workout programs, and voluntary workouts begin next month. Teams with new head coaches can begin their offseason program earlier than other teams. The Chiefs can officially start the first day of their offseason program on April 15.

The NFL announced full workout schedules for each team from Day 1 through the mandatory minicamp. Check out the schedule for Kansas City down below:

  • First Day: April 15.
  • Organized Team Activities Group 1: May 20-22.
  • Organized Team Activities Group 2: May 28-May 30.
  • Organized Team Activities Group 3: June 4-7.
  • Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13.

There are three phases of the voluntary workout program. Here are the descriptions of each phase per the NFL’s press release:

Phase One:

Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program, with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.

Phase Two:

Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Phase Three:

Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs.” No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

The Chiefs and every team in the league’s offseason workout program calendar are subject to change at their discretion. Rookie minicamps are typically in May, but the dates will not be confirmed until after the 2024 NFL Draft.

Dates announced for Packers 2024 offseason workout program

Dates were announced for the Packers offseason workout program in 2024.

The Green Bay Packers will open the 2024 offseason workout program on April 15, hold six different sessions of organized team activities across May and June and conclude the program with a three-day mandatory minicamp in mid-June.

The team announced the dates on Friday:

First Day: April 15
OTAs: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-4, June 6
Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13

The program is split up into three voluntary phases and a mandatory minicamp.

Phase One opens the program with two weeks of meetings, strength and conditioning and physical rehab only.

Phase Two is the next three weeks and provides opportunities for on-field workouts and walkthrough-pace sessions.

Phase Three is the next four weeks and allows 10 days of OTAs, which can include 7-on-7, 9-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills without live contact. The CBA gives teams the opportunity to hold a mandatory three-day minicamp during Phase Three.

Teams will also have the chance to hold a seven-week rookie developmental program beginning on May 13.

Because the Packers returned coach Matt LaFleur, the team is not allowed to hold a voluntary veteran minicamp. Only teams with new coaches get this early access.

Dates are subject to change.

10 things learned during Packers offseason workout program

Insight and takeaways from the Packers offseason workout program in 2023.

The Green Bay Packers wrapped up the offseason workout program earlier this month and are now preparing for the start of training camp in late July.

The two-month program is for installation of scheme and serves as the groundwork for training camp. But what can be gleaned from the offseason?

Here are 10 things learned during the Packers offseason workout program, with insider insights from Paul Bretl and takeaways from Zach Kruse:

Recapping Packers offseason workout program with Paul Bretl

Recapping everything you need to know from the Green Bay Packers’ offseason workout program in 2023 with Paul Bretl.

The Green Bay Packers’ offseason workout program opened on April 17 and concluded this week, wrapping up with two days of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday and Thursday and a team-building activity (paintballing) on Thursday.

What are the important things to know from the offseason program?

Packers Wire contributor Paul Bretl was in attendance for five of the team’s offseason workout practices this spring and summer. We asked him a series of questions to help recap all the important things coming out of the program.

You can read Bretl’s individual minicamp practice recaps below:

Packers go paintballing for team-building activity to end offseason workout program

The Packers went to a paintball course north of Green Bay to finish up minicamp and the offseason workout program.

As is the case most years, Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur cancelled Thursday’s final mandatory minicamp practice in favor of a team-building activity. The event? Paintballing.

After a day of fun, the Packers have now finished the offseason workout program and won’t reconvene until training camp at the end of July.

The team’s official site documented the activities from a paintball course outside of Green Bay with over 90 photos:

Offense wore white uniforms, the defense wore green.

The course was at Commando Paintball Sports in Little Suamico, just north of Green Bay.

Rookies, quarterbacks and injured players report back to Green Bay for training camp on July 21. Veterans are to report by July 25. The first practice is scheduled for July 26.

1 takeaway from each Packers position group after offseason workout program

Paul Bretl runs through some key takeaways from each position group as the Packers finish up the offseason workout program in 2023.

The Green Bay Packers’ offseason workout program in 2023 is now behind us. The program consisted of 10 total practices between OTAs and minicamp, including five of which were open to the media.

Still without pads, of course, no final roster spots or playing time were determined over the last month. Instead, Matt LaFleur and his coaching staff laid the foundation for what they want the offense and defense to become before really beginning to dive into the playbook once training camp arrives. With that said, these practices still provide a ton of value, especially for the young players where every rep matters, and provides LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst with additional data points for those future decisions that have to be made.

Having attended each of those open practices, I have one takeaway or observation from each position group.

The #Chiefs began Phase 2 of the offseason workout program on Monday. Find out what that entails here:

The Kansas City Chiefs jumped into Phase 2 of the offseason program on Monday, May 1.

The team kicked off the first phase of the offseason workout program back on April 17. It was held virtually for the second consecutive season, but after two weeks or so of voluntary strength and conditioning training, Phase 2 is officially beginning in Kansas City.

This phase will go on for the next three weeks, leading to voluntary Organized Team Activities (OTAs) at the end of the month. Here is what Phase 2 entails, via the NFL’s offseason workout press release:

Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as “perfect play drills,” and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Players can report to the team facilities today if they so choose, but this portion of the offseason program remains voluntary.

The Chiefs will also hold their rookie minicamp during this period — which is mandatory for all rookies unless they’re excused by the team. It will take place on the first weekend following the 2023 NFL draft from Friday, June 5 through Sunday, June 8. Rookies get a little bit of extra time with the coaching staff during this period before the veterans get into the building. It helps them catch up on what they’ve missed in the offseason program thus far and allows them to acclimate to life in the NFL.

We’ve been tracking all of the players who have been invited to rookie minicamp on a tryout basis or signed as undrafted free agents.

Jordan Love arrives for first day of Packers offseason workout program

The Packers open the 2023 offseason workout program on Monday.

For the first time in his professional career, Jordan Love is showing up at the offseason workout program as the starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.

Love reported to the first day of the 2023 program in Green Bay on Monday.

The Packers’ official Twitter account documented Love’s arrival:

Of course, it’s snowing in Green Bay. The team also posted videos of Kenny Clark, Aaron Jones, Preston Smith and Christian Watson arriving at Lambeau Field.

Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, the Packers have 16 players with workout bonuses tied to participation during the offseason workout program. One is Aaron Rodgers, who remains under contract with the Packers but will be eventually traded to the New York Jets. He is not expected to attend the offseason workout program.

In fact, Rodgers did not participate during the voluntary portions of the offseason workout programs before the 2021 and 2022 seasons, so Love is used to running the show during this part of the year.

The Packers are one of 26 teams to begin the offseason workout program on Monday.

Here’s the program schedule:

First Day: April 17
OTAs: May 22-23, May 25, May 30-31, June 2, June 5-6, June 8
Mandatory Minicamp: June 13-15
