When he was initially hired, fans and analysts had doubts over Kalen DeBoer’s ability to recruit. Though he has yet to coach a game for the Alabama Crimson Tide, DeBoer has netted numerous wins on the recruiting trail that have garnered the public’s interest. His latest recruiting victory is landing a commitment from five-star offensive tackle, Ty Haywood.
Haywood, who stands at 6-foot-five, 285 pounds, is from Denton, Texas and chose Alabama over a handful of other big-time programs such as the Florida State Seminoles, Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma Sooners and others.
The 247Sports Composite ranks Haywood as the No. 11 player in the nation, No. 4 player in Texas and the No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2025 class. ESPN classifies Haywood as a four-star prospect ranked No. 18 overall in the 2025 Top 300.
Landing Haywood’s commitment only adds to the already-impressive 2025 recruiting class for Alabama, which features four five-star prospects and a whopping 12 four-star prospects. Overall, the Crimson Tide’s 2025 class ranks No. 2 in the nation as things stand. However, there could always be some decommitments, but DeBoer is expected to add more top-tier talent as the recruiting cycle progresses.
