Nuggets at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 123, Trail Blazers 112

Moneyline

The Nuggets have more road wins this season (21) than the Blazers have total wins (19). The Blazers are 11-26 at home.

The Nuggets beat the Blazers 127-112 in Portland on Feb. 23.

Denver has won 7 of its last 8 road games and is 13-2 in its last 15.

Don’t bet the Blazers to win outright. It isn’t likely going to happen. But also, don’t bet the Nuggets on the moneyline because -900 odds is not worth a wager.

PASS.

Against the spread

Each team covered the spread in their previous 2 meetings.

The Nuggets are 32-37-1 ATS overall this season while the Blazers are 33-36-1 ATS.

The Blazers are a league-leading 9-2-1 ATS on no rest.

The Nuggets are only 5-10-1 ATS when playing with a rest advantage.

BET TRAIL BLAZERS +12.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The total in both previous games were 215 and 239.

The Nuggets’ last 4 and and 9 of their last 10 have surpassed 211 total points.

The Blazers’ last 4 and 8 of their last 10 have have totals of more than 211.

BET OVER 211.5 (-115).

Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (3-0) welcome the Denver Nuggets (2-1) to Moda Center Monday. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Trail Blazers enter Monday as just 1 of 4 undefeated teams in the NBA. They beat the Phoenix Suns 113-111 in overtime Friday in their lone home game.

Portland is led by G Damian Lillard who is averaging 34 points per game and shooting 47.1% from the field. G Anfernee Simons has taken on a larger role this season, averaging 16.7 points per game.

The Nuggets are led by 2-time MVP C Nikola Jokic. They are still working to incorporate G Jamal Murray back into the rotation. F Michael Porter Jr. is also a name to keep an eye on.

Denver went into Golden State and beat the Warriors 128-123 Friday as a 5.5-point underdog, then it welcomed the Oklahoma City Thunder to Pepsi Center and won 122-117 Saturday as a 9-point favorite.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 114, Trail Blazers 112

Moneyline

PASS.

Despite the Blazers being undefeated, the Nuggets are the better team. I would pass here.

Against the spread

BET TRAIL BLAZERS +5.5 (-110).

The Blazers are undefeated, and it is their defense that is thriving this season. They have the 5th-best defensive rating in the NBA, and they sit 7th in defensive rebounding rate.

While Portland’s offensive efficiency is a concern, Lillard is among the best scorers in the NBA. While the Blazers don’t force many turnovers, the Nuggets have the highest turnover rate in the NBA.

C Jusuf Nurkic should be able to tame his former teammate Jokic as well. He has the size to do so, and with the offense running through Jokic, expect that to cause some struggles for the Denver offense.

Look for the home side to cover here.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 226.5 (-110).

The Blazers don’t like to run and are 18th in the NBA in pace.

The Nuggets rank 4th in pace, but they’ve played the Thunder, Warriors and Utah Jazz — all teams that prefer to run in transition, so the pace for Denver may be a tad inflated.

Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Nuggets (35-25) visit the Portland Trail Blazers (25-35) Sunday. The fourth and final time they will meet in the regular season tips off from Moda Center at 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nuggets picked up a 115-110 home win over the Sacramento Kings Saturday. They have won five games in a row and seven of their last eight. Denver is in sixth place in the Western Conference with a 3.5-game lead over the seventh-placed Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Blazers won four straight games before the All-Star break but snapped that win streak in a 132-95 loss to the Golden State Warriors Thursday. They cling to a 1-game lead over the New Orleans Pelicans for the 10th seed, the final spot to participate in the play-in games for the playoffs.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 117, Trail Blazers 101

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The Blazers got hot before the All-Star Game but came back down to earth upon return. The Nuggets are playing great basketball right now and have won three straight games on the road.

I wouldn’t bet Portland after its performance Thursday against Golden State, and betting Denver doesn’t work because of the price. You don’t want to bet nearly four times your potential return.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Nuggets did not cover the spread Saturday against the Kings but have covered the spread in seven of their last 10 games.

Aside from the four wins before the All-Star Game, the Blazers have not covered the spread in their last 10 outings.

The Nuggets perform better against the spread on the road at 16-16-1 ATS, compared to 11-16 ATS at home, while the Blazers are 15-17-1 ATS at home.

Take the NUGGETS -7.5 (-112).

Over/Under

The Blazers won’t score much if they’re going to play as they did against the Warriors. They averaged 116 points per game in their four-game win streak but have scored 94.3 points per game, surpassing 100 only once, in six losses across their last 10 games.

The Nuggets are averaging 118.6 points per game in their last eight contests.

Portland won’t score enough to get them over the total.

Take UNDER 225.5 (-110).

Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Nuggets (9-8) travel to the Rose City Tuesday to play the Portland Trail Blazers (9-8) in a 10 p.m. ET game at Moda Center. Below, we look at the Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions, and bets.

The Nuggets enter on a four-game losing skid (0-4 ATS), the last two without reigning MVP C Nikola Jokic. This current losing stretch followed a five-game winning streak. Denver’s last victory came against Portland Nov. 14.

Denver is 7-10 ATS, 6-11 O/U and is tied with Portland for the 15th-ranked net rating (plus-0.5).

The Trail Blazers have won four of their past five games including three straight home victories over the Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers.

Portland is 7-9-1 ATS and 8-9 O/U and is tied with Denver with a plus-0.5 net rating (ranked 15th).

The Nuggets crushed the Trail Blazers 124-95 in their first meeting of the season. Denver also defeated Portland 4-2 in a best-of-seven Western Conference first-round playoff series last season.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Trail Blazers 117, Nuggets 104

Money line

PASS since Portland (-240) is the right side here but is too expensive in this spot. I wouldn’t lay -240 with any NBA regular-season favorite anyhow.

Against the spread

BET 1 unit on the TRAIL BLAZERS -6.5 (-1107) because they play much better at home and stylistically match up well vs. this current version of the Nuggets.

Portland runs the sixth-highest frequency of pick-and-roll action through the ball handler and has the fifth-highest efficiency. This is a weak spot for a Denver defense that has the eighth-worst defensive efficiency vs. pick-and-roll action through the ball handler.

According to ShotQuality.com, Portland plays the most halfcourt offense while Denver has the worst defensive efficiency in halfcourt basketball. Moreover, the Nuggets play at the second-slowest pace in the NBA, so their halfcourt defense will be tested.

The Trail Blazers are 8-1 at home and are second to only the Golden State Warriors in net points per 100 possessions at home. Also, the Trail Blazers are third in spread differential in home games, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

However, the Nuggets are 2-5 on the road with a minus-5.9 points per 100 possessions (ranked 20th) and a minus 2.3 spread differential (ranked 22nd), according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Over 213.5 (-115) because Portland has the best offensive efficiency at home (according to CleaningTheGlass.com) and Denver’s defensive efficiency dips to 23rd in the NBA while on the road.

On top of that, the Nuggets have gone Over in four of their last five games and the Trail Blazers have gone Over in three of their last four games.

Both teams want to play at a slower pace and Denver’s offense is too reliant on Jokic playing at an MVP-caliber. Denver SF Will Barton is the only other Nugget besides Jokic who can create his own look. I could see this game dying down in the fourth quarter if Portland is up big.

Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers Game 4 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers Game 4 odds and lines, with NBA picks, tips and predictions.

The 3-seed Denver Nuggets and 6-seed Portland Trail Blazers play Game 4 of their Western Conference first-round series Saturday at Moda Center in Portland. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Nuggets dropped Game 1 in Denver, losing home-court advantage in the process. They bounced back in Game 2 with a 19-point win, and in Game 3 they grabbed home court back with a 120-115 road win as 3.5-point underdogs.

The Trail Blazers turned it over just seven times in Game 3, while the Nuggets coughed it up 13 times. The difference was 3-point shooting as Portland was just 31.1% (14-for-45) from behind the arc, while Denver hit 52.6% (20-for-38) from long distance.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Trail Blazers 119, Nuggets 113

Money line (ML)

The TRAIL BLAZERS (-185) are looking for a little bit of a rebound, and they’re probably a better play on the money line than laying the points since they have won and covered just once. It’s desperation time in Rip City, and you have to feel they’ll be bringing it hard in Game 4.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The TRAIL BLAZERS -4.5 (-110) are the lean, and they’re worth a small-unit play. They have shot lights out just once in three games in this series. They’re a risky play, but the Blazers are the way to go in Game 4.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 227.5 (-115) is the best play on the board. It has consistently hit in all three games during this first-round battle. We have had an average of 234.7 PPG in the three installments of this series so far. Until the total is set at 230 or higher, keep hitting the Over.

Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers Game 3 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Portland Trail Blazers at Denver Nuggets Game 3 odds and lines, with NBA picks, tips and predictions.

The 3-seed Denver Nuggets and 6-seed Portland Trail Blazers play Game 3 of their Western Conference first-round series Thursday at Moda Center in Portland. Tip-off is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nuggets vs. Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Nuggets bounced back in Game 2 registering a 128-109 win Monday after getting smashed 123-109 in the series opener.

MVP candidate Nikola Jokic was a beast in Game 2 going for 38 points on 15-of-20 shooting while grabbing eight boards and five assists.

The Trail Blazers might have dropped Game 2 by 14 points, but the accomplished their objective. Portland grabbed the road split in Denver wrestling home-court advantage into their favor.

The big difference for Portland between the two games was their ball handling. They turned it over just six times in Game 1 and 21 times in Game 2.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Trail Blazers 123, Nuggets 112

Money line (ML)

The TRAIL BLAZERS (-185) are just a little more expensive than my personal money line limit of -180, but sometimes you have to make exceptions. Portland is looking for the bounce back in Game 3, and they’ll do just that on its home court as long as they can curb the turnovers.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The TRAIL BLAZERS -4 (-110) have covered seven of the previous nine as a favorite, and they have cashed in five of the previous six meetings against the Nuggets +4 (-110). I love the Blazers laying the two buckets here.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 227.5 (-110) is the play here. The Over cashed in each of the first two games in the Mile High City, and there is no reason to believe each of these teams are about to suddenly get defensive just because of a change of venue.

Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Denver Nuggets at Portland Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Denver Nuggets (47-24) visit the Portland Trail Blazers (41-30) Sunday at Moda Center for each team’s regular-season finale. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET.  Below, we analyze the Nuggets-Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Denver won the first three games of its four-game road trip to end the season. The Nuggets are 7-3 straight up and 5-5 against the spread over their last 10 games.

A Nuggets’ win would clinch them the 3-seed in the Western Conference, but it would also put them in jeopardy of playing the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs.

Portland had its five-game winning streak snapped Thursday in a 118-117 heartbreaking loss at the Phoenix Suns. The Blazers can clinch the 6-seed in the West with a win; a loss and a Lakers victory against the New Orleans Pelicans would put the Blazers in the play-in tournament.

Denver won the first two regular-season meetings with Portland, but the Blazers covered the spread in both games.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Trail Blazers 115, Nuggets 111

Money line (ML)

Slight “LEAN” to the NUGGETS (+360) for a quarter unit since this game is priced as if Denver has nothing to play for and is resting players when no official announcement has been made confirming that notion.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Definitely BET the NUGGETS +9.5 (-110) heavier than or instead of Denver’s money line, but wait the final injury reports for both teams are announced before betting this game.

As it stands now, the Nuggets have the starting 5 they’ll run out next week during the playoffs sans a banged-up Barton and the Blazers aren’t 9.5 points better than Denver, even at home.

Also, Nuggets C Nikola Jokic and Blazers C Jusuf Nurkic have a rivalry going after Denver moved on from Nurkic in favor of Jokic in 2017.

I think Jokic’s motivation to not be outplayed by Nurkic and wanting to finish off his probable MVP campaign on a high note means Jokic gives us a strong performance.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 227.5 (-110) for a half unit because both teams play at a bottom-10 pace, Portland’s offense gets stuck in iso-ball far too often and Denver’s offense can look pretty ugly if outside shooters aren’t helping Jokic out.

Also, the “sharp” side of the market is backing the Under and oddsmakers have responded by dropping the total from the 230.5-point opener.
