Former Notre Dame LB Jonathan Jones Finds New Home

he’s found a new home at an Ohio-based Mid-American Conference university.

Former Notre Dame linebacker and special teams player Jonathan Jones was previously in the transfer portal but now he’s found a new home at an Ohio-based Mid-American Conference university.

Jones enrolled in classes at Toledo University last week and will spend 2020 as a member of the Toledo Rockets football program.

Jones finished his Notre Dame career with 16 career tackles, playing for the Irish in the last three seasons.

Jones was recruited to Notre Dame from Oak Ridge High School in Orlando, Florida as a four-star linebacker based off of 247’s rankings.  He graduated from Notre Dame in December and will immediately eligible at Toledo.

Notre Dame offensive lineman enters the transfer portal

Good luck young man!

The second transfer portal windows opened on Saturday and up until today, [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] has not really been bitten by the transfer bug.

It is inevitable in this era of college football, the Irish have been on the better end of it recently, quarterback Sam Hartman as a prime example.

The other end of the portal is seeing players exit, and the Irish saw offensive lineman [autotag]Caleb Johnson[/autotag] entered the portal today. This should come as no surprise as last month it was announced that he was no longer with the team.

As the 22nd overall player at his position in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports composite, the Floridian had trouble seeing the field as a member of the Irish. Johnson played in just one game over the course of two seasons.

Hopefully Johnson can find somewhere to find the field and live out his dreams.

Phil Jurkovec – Boston College Bound?

And if he does ultimately end up at Boston College, he could very well be their starting quarterback when the Eagles play Notre Dame next, which is scheduled for 2022.

News came down earlier this week that Phil Jurkovec might not be the savior at quarterback at Notre Dame after all and that he may be taking his talents elsewhere as he’s officially entered the transfer portal.

Jurkovec is wasting no time trying to find his potential landing spot as 247Sports is reporting the former four-star recruit is spending this weekend on an official visit to Boston College.

Boston College quarterback Anthony Brown entered the transfer portal himself not all that long ago, possibly because of the hiring of new head coach Jeff Hafley.

If able to secure a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible to play in 2020, Jurkovec would have three years of eligibility left.

And if he does ultimately end up at Boston College, he could very well be their starting quarterback when the Eagles play Notre Dame next, which is scheduled for 2022.

I wish nothing but the best for Jurkovec in the future and don’t understand the die-hard fans that think he’s some sort of traitor.  He’s still young and things weren’t going as planned.  The world will continue to rotate.

Just as long as Jurkovec doesn’t ever lead BC to an upset win against Notre Dame, anyway.

Notre Dame the New Home to Transferring Northwestern Captain

Skowronek pulled down 45 receptions as both a sophomore and junior for the Wildcats, finding the end zone eight times those two years.  He was also named to the All-Academic Big Ten Team both years.  He isn’t just a fit because he’s a Midwestern guy from a good school, he’s got extremely big play ability when healthy.

Although not playing on New Years Day 2020, Notre Dame still receieved good news Wednesday as Northwestern captain, senior transfer Bennett Skowronek announced he will be enrolling at Notre Dame this spring and using his final year of eligibility there in the fall.

Skowronek, a 6-4, 215 pound receiver is coming off a senior season at Northwestern that saw the captain play just three games before suffering an ankle injury that sidelined him the remainder of the season.

Notre Dame is banking on Skowronek’s ankle being fully healed, something Matt Fortuna from The Athletic says those in South Bend are confident in.

Skowronek’s injury happening in just the third game of the 2019 season makes him eligible for 2020 despite having played in four separate seasons already at Northwestern.

That play sealed the deal for Northwestern’s only Big Ten West title in school history but he was also responsible for over 1200 yards of offense for a pretty pedestrian offensive unit.
