Notre Dame’s Football Program Generates a Massive Amount of Money

Penn Live acquired the data surround what the Power 5 teams make each year and the numbers next to Notre Dame name is impressive.

The Notre Dame Football program is one of the most storied in all of collegiate athletics and with that comes plenty of revenue. Recently Penn Live acquired data from the top 65 Power Five programs and ranked them according to how much money they made from July of 2018 through the end of June 2019.

There are only a few schools that can compete with what Notre Dame brings back to South Bend monetarily, and the information found by Penn Live backs that up. The Irish are ranked 4th in the country, bringing in whopping $115.5 million dollars during the past “fiscal year”. They are one of six schools that crack the $100 million mark, with Notre Dame making a move towards the top of the list, improving two spots since last year’s numbers were released.

David Jones of Penn Live sees a few clear advantages the Irish hold over other schools, as Notre Dame along with Texas “are the only ones in college football with their own separate TV deals.” Jones also notes that since the Irish are not affiliated with a conference for football, which means all their TV revenue goes straight into their pockets. He is unsure if the payout of their $15 million annual TV deal with NBC is included in these numbers.
