Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders already threw the silliest interception of the college football season

Wait, how did this happen?!

Well, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders might want this throw back after it was intercepted in the most bizarre way possible against North Dakota State on Thursday night.

As Sanders was making a throw to the end zone early in the third quarter, the quarterback threw the ball right into the cleats of a NDSU player.

The football bounced off said player’s cleats and into the hands of linebacker Nick Kubitz.

We have absolutely no idea how this happened, as Sanders’ pass went right into an opponent’s feet and into the hands of a linebacker.

Watch this one again and marvel at just how wacky this was.

Texas A&M has offered former star North Dakota State wide receiver

Texas A&M has reportedly offered from North Dakota State WR Eli Green

Texas A&M still needs more wide receiver help to solidify the depth chart, as head coach Mike Elko’s inaugural 2024 season is now less than four months away. The Maroon & White spring game proved the issue this offseason, as junior WR Noah Thomas was the only receiver to impact the passing game.

With redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman back in the saddle after missing the season’s final eight games due to injury, new offensive coordinator Collin Klein’s scheme is based on reliable pass catchers at both wide receiver and tight end.

In the transfer portal, Elko has already struck out on two receivers, KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Sam Brown, who are headed to Auburn and Miami. However, several veterans, including former North Dakota State WR Eli Green, are still available.

After entering the portal late last month, the 5-11 and 185-pound athlete is aided. Still, his impressive route running and notable second-gear speed in the open field are things that the Aggie offense needs to be more explosive in the passing game. Green has two more years of collegiate eligibility remaining.

On Thursday, Green revealed that Texas A&M and 20 other programs have offered him ahead of the 2024 season. In short, Elko and his staff have their work cut out for them. Last season, Green recorded 46 receptions, 886 yards, and three touchdowns during his sophomore campaign.

Montana’s incredible 2-point conversion helped knock North Dakota State out of FCS playoffs in 2OT

The Montana Grizzlies are headed to the FCS title game in part thanks to this amazing play.

The Montana Grizzlies are headed to the the NCAA FCS championship game for the first time since 2009 after downing North Dakota State, 31-29, in a thrilling double-overtime semifinal game Saturday in Missoula, Montana.

And how they won was beyond impressive, extending their win streak to 10 games this season.

After having the lead for most of the game, the Grizzlies let the Bison tie it up at the end of the fourth quarter, eventually forcing overtime. It took the two teams a total of three plays to trade touchdowns, sending the game into a second overtime with the score tied at 23-23.

Getting the ball first, Montana found the end zone, and because it was the second overtime, it was forced to go for the two-point conversion after a touchdown. And wow, the Grizzlies did not disappoint with this incredible two-point conversion play:

With receiver Junior Bergen getting tossed the ball after the snap on the trick play, he looked like he was about to be tackled way back around the 18-yard line. But he somehow still got the pass off, and receiver Keelan White SOMEHOW came up with the deflected ball in the back of the end zone.

North Dakota State had its chance to tie the game again and force a third overtime. And while the Bison scored a touchdown, their two-point conversion attempt was intercepted, and that was that.

Montana will play for the FCS national title against defending champ South Dakota State on Jan. 7.

5 facts about Chargers QB Easton Stick, including the fact we don’t know his name origin

The Chargers have Division I’s winningest quarterback behind center, even if we don’t know why he’s named Easton.

Look, we’re not sure why Easton Stick’s parents named him Easton Stick either. He’s not on the record talking about it. Neither is anyone else in his family.

But here’s the thing. The Los Angeles Chargers’ backup-turned-starter is pretty dang interesting in his own right. He was a prolific collegiate quarterback. He’s been simmering on the Chargers’ roster for years waiting for an opportunity like the one he’ll get in Week 15 vs. the Las Vegas Raiders — the first regular season start of his career. He’s the next man up in a lineage of surprising passers like Tyson Bagent, Tommy DeVito, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

He’ll have to hope his season turns out more like Tommy Cutlets than the rest of this year’s underwhelming emergency QBs. Here’s what you should know about him.

USC hires national champion head coach for defensive staff position

USC gets a national champion coach from the North Dakota State dynasty to help D’Anton Lynn with the defense.

If you were looking for clear indications that USC is serious about developing a good defense, the hire of D’Anton Lynn as defensive coordinator was a good start. However, the Trojans couldn’t stop there. They needed to do more.

How about hiring the head coach of the North Dakota State FCS dynasty and bringing him to Los Angeles to coach linebackers and become a second central teacher on the defensive side of the ball?

Does that sound good?

Matt Entz, head coach of North Dakota State, is heading to USC.

College Sports Wire has more:

“Entz, who coached the Bison for the past five seasons, will coach the Trojans linebackers and serve as the team’s assistant head coach for the defense.

“In his five years at the helm, NDSU went 60-10 overall and 32-7 in conference games. He led the Bison to FCS National Championships in 2019 and 2021, including an undefeated 16-0 season in his 2019 coaching debut. North Dakota State also appeared in the FCS National Championship game in 2022, losing to South Dakota State.”

North Dakota State survives in FCS playoffs with blocked extra point against Montana State

North Dakota State is still kicking after pulling the upset on the road.

It’s been a down year for North Dakota State football by its own dynastic standards, but the Bison are still kicking in the FCS playoffs after pulling a second-round upset on the road over six-seeded Montana State.

The game went to overtime tied at 28, and after North Dakota State scored on its opening drive, the Bobcats answered with a touchdown on their first play.

They were an extra point away from sending the game to a second overtime period, but backup offensive lineman Hunter Poncius took advantage of his 6-foot-8 frame, putting his hand up to block the point-after attempt and keep the Bison’s season alive.

North Dakota State has won nine national titles since 2011, but it came up short last season and suffered three losses during the 2023 regular season. One of those came at home by a 24-19 margin against No. 3 seed South Dakota, which will host the Bison in the quarterfinal next weekend.

Five things to know about Northwestern’s interim head coach David Braun

Northwestern football’s interim head coach David Braun has a very strong resume as a defensive coordinator.

On Thursday night, Northwestern football announced that David Braun is the program’s interim head coach. The announcement comes just days after the firing of Pat Fiztgerald and with roughly six weeks until the season opener at Rutgers football.

But who is Braun, and what is his background? Despite suddenly becoming a Power Five head coach, Braun has not garnered a ton of attention or headlines despite his success as a defensive coordinator.

Braun comes to Northwestern after four years as the defensive coordinator at North Dakota State. For those who don’t known, North Dakota State is a juggernaut at the FBS level.

So with Rutgers set to host Northwestern on the first weekend of September, scroll down to learn five things to know about the new interim head coach of the program.

2023 NFL Combine coverage highlighted a younger Cody Mauch’s adorable Napoleon Dynamite dance

Flippin’ sweet!

North Dakota State offensive lineman Cody Mauch is hoping that he’ll have a flippin’ sweet 2023 NFL Scouting Combine.

As he participated in drills for Sunday’s combine finale, the NFL Network crew dug up an adorable throwback video of Mauch performing the Napoleon Dynamite dance from the film of the same name.

If you want to strap on your seatbelt on the Wayback Machine, you’ll remember plenty of talent shows where kids did the Napoleon Dynamite dance.

Mauch did a delightful job paying homage to the beloved aughts comedy when he was a kid, and maybe this clip will give NFL teams hope that Mauch will do whatever he feels like he wants to do as a potential NFL starter.

Mauch is projected to be a second-day draft pick, and he could fill an important spot on any team’s NFL offensive line.

Maybe the offensive lineman will bust out the dance moves once he’s drafted next month.

FCS Championship: Bettors are expecting a competitive game between North Dakota State and South Dakota State

Here’s how the public is betting on North Dakota State vs. South Dakota State.

Do you have the itch for football but aren’t interested in many of Week 18’s NFL games? Or are you patiently awaiting Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship between TCU and Georgia, trying to figure out how to get your football fix in the meantime?

Well, Sunday’s FCS Championship Game may be what you’re looking for.

It’ll be a battle of the Dakotas when the 12-2 North Dakota State Bison take on the 13-1 South Dakota State Jackrabbits. The two squads met earlier this season in a game South Dakota State won 23-21. As a result, the Jackrabbits are 5.5-point favorites to win the title.

However, according to John Ewing of BetMGM, only 45 percent of the tickets on the spread at the sportsbook are on the Jackrabbits to cover. Uncoincidentally, 79 percent of moneyline bets are on the Bison to (+170) to pull off the upset.

North Dakota State is the reigning FCS Champion and has won nine FCS titles in total, all of which have come in the last 11 years. South Dakota State finished as the runner-up during the 2020 season and has no other FCS Championship Game experience.

Will the defending champs pull the upset? Or will the FCS crown a new champion?
