Another Notre Dame football signee wins state’s player of the year

Another excellent prospect heading to South Bend

It’s not just in-state athlete Mark Zackery IV coming to the Notre Dame football program as a MaxPreps state player of the Year.

Irish 2025 signee [autotag]Nolan James[/autotag] was named as New Jersey’s top player in 2024, as the 5-foot, 10-inch and 200-pound running back dominated the competition. The star carried the ball 243 times for 1,921-yards with 19 touchdowns. Only one game this fall, James didn’t top the 100-yard mark.

Not only that, he caught 27 passes for 340-yards and another 3 scores, going over 2,000 all-purpose yards on the year. Knowing all that, it makes you wonder why he was ranked so low in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as just the No. 710 overall player in the country. At one point in time he was committed to Boston College, so it’s not like he was an unknown commodity.

Regardless of his ranking, James put up video game stats, as he prepares to head to South Bend. While he’s going to be joining a crowded room, the coaching staff has shown that they’ll play younger players early if they are ready.

The flip is complete, Notre Dame adds a running back to its 2025 class

The Irish complete the flip

As we found out on Monday morning, it seemed like Notre Dame football had a great chance to flip Boston College 2025 running back commit [autotag]Nolan James[/autotag].

Well, it didn’t take long for that to happen, as the 5-foot, 11-inch and 200-pound back changed his commitment to the Irish on Monday evening. He’s the second running back in the class, joining Justin Thurman.

While being ranked as the nation’s No. 986 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, James shouldn’t be viewed as a fallback option. He is a quality prospect, one that holds a lower ranking due to the question of his position.

It no doubt that the visit this past weekend pushed James over the edge to verbal to Notre Dame, it was a raucous environment with Florida State in town for a prime time game.

You have to believe that this isn’t the end for flips in the class, as the Irish have other prospects they are working on to join the 2025 class.

Notre Dame football trending to flip 2025 Boston College commit

The Irish hosted the running back this past weekend, and it looks like it went well

Notre Dame football hosted multiple prospects over this past weekend, and by most reports, it was a smashing success for the Irish.

One of the visitors was New Jersey running back [autotag]Nolan James[/autotag], who committed to Boston College in December of last year. The 5-foot, 11-inch and 200-pound prospect is currently ranked as an athlete by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as the No. 985 overall prospect.

The ranking shouldn’t matter much, as the Irish have shown the ability to find lower ranked prospects and make them into very good collegiate players. That could very well be the case with James, as 247Sports Tom Loy believes that he will eventually flip to the Irish.

Currently, Notre Dame has Justin Thurman in the 2025 class as the position, but typically bringing in two running backs in each cycle is a good idea. James would be a great addition to the Irish class.

Report: Notre Dame to host 3-star running back in hopes of a flip

More flip rumors for the Irish

It really is starting to become flip season for Notre Dame football and its recruitment of the 2025 class.

The Irish offered wide receiver Antwaun Parham on Friday, who is currently committed to Tulane. News also broke from Matt Freeman that Notre Dame will officially host running back [autotag]Nolan James[/autotag], who is committed to Boston College at the moment.

The 5-foot, 11-inch and 200-pound prospect is ranked as the nation’s No. 985 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but you can’t take too much stock into this. James is ranked as an athlete, so that’s where the discrepancy is happening.

Regardless of James’ ranking, if Notre Dame wants him enough to get him on campus for an official visit, it means that he’s good enough to play for the Irish. This is a recruitment to watch, as there looks to be a very good chance for him to end up flipping and playing collegiately in South Bend.
