SportsbookWire’s NFL Week 12 picks: ML, ATS and O/U predictions for all games

The SportsbookWire staff makes their NFL Week 12 picks and predictions for moneylines, spreads and totals.

Before looking at SportsbookWire staff’s Week 12 NFL picks, here are the against-the-spread (ATS) and Over/Under (O/U) leaders, according to Teamrankings.com.

At 8-2 ATS each, the Detroit Lions (9-1 straight up) and Pittsburgh Steelers (8-2) remain the top NFL teams to bet on when it comes to the spread.

They both covered as home teams in Week 11. Detroit, a 14-point favorite, smoked the Jacksonville Jaguars 52-6, while Pittsburgh upset the Baltimore Ravens 18-16 as a 3-point underdog.

The Steelers visit the rival Cleveland Browns (2-8 SU, 3-7 ATS) Thursday for an 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, while the Lions will play at the Indianapolis Colts (5-6, 8-3) Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. BetMGM Sportsbook lists the Steelers as 3.5-point favorites and the Lions as 7.5-point favorites as of Thursday at 9:07 a.m. ET.

Joining the Colts at 8-3 ATS are the Denver Broncos (6-5 SU).

At 1-9 ATS, the Tennessee Titans (2-8) remain the top team to fade — best against — just ahead of the Dallas Cowboys (3-7) at 2-8 ATS and the New York Jets (3-8) at 3-8 ATS.

The Titans are listed as 8-point dogs at the Houston Texans (7-4, 5-5-1) Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Even though the Ravens played an Under game vs. the Steelers last Sunday, Baltimore is still the top Over team at 9-2. The Cincinnati Bengals (4-7) are 8-3 O/U, while the Carolina Panthers (3-7), Las Vegas Raiders (2-8) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6) are each 7-3 O/U.

The top Under team is still Houston at 3-8 O/U; the Chicago Bears (4-6), LA Chargers (7-3), Minnesota Vikings (8-2) and New York Giants (2-8) are each 3-7 O/U.

Six teams have byes this week. They are the Atlanta Falcons (6-5, 5-6), Buffalo Bills (9-2, 7-4) Bengals (6-5 ATS), Jaguars (2-9, 6-5), New Orleans Saints (4-7, 5-6) and Jets.

All 32 NFL quarterbacks (including Bo Nix) ranked by Total QBR

Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix has a Total QBR rating of 55.3 through 11 weeks. He ranks 20th in the NFL.

Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix posted a Total QBR rating of 75.5 in the team’s 38-6 win over the Atlanta Falcons last week, bringing his season-long Total QBR average to 55.3.

That’s a slight improvement from last week’s rating (54.4), but Nix’s rank among starting QBs is unchanged from last week (No. 20).

Nix’s traditional passer rating this season is 89.3, which ranks 21st.

Unlike a traditional passer rating, the Total QBR “incorporates all of a quarterback’s contributions to winning, including how he impacts the game on passes, rushes, turnovers and penalties,” according to ESPN.

The metric takes into account scenarios that a traditional passer rating overlooks and considers “a team’s level of success or failure on every play to provide the proper context and then allocates credit to the quarterback and his teammate to produce a clearer measure of quarterback efficiency.”

With that context in mind, here’s a look at how Nix stacks up against the NFL’s other starting quarterbacks this fall.

NFL QBs ranked by Total QBR after Week 11

  1. Joe Burrow: 76.1

  3. Kyler Murray: 74.9
  4. Josh Allen: 72.7

  7. Patrick Mahomes: 67.0
  8. Derek Carr: 62.1
  9. Jalen Hurts: 62.0
  10. Matthew Stafford: 60.6
  11. Tua Tagovailoa: 60.4

  18. Sam Darnold: 55.7
