With Nick Folk questionable, Titans sign Brayden Narveson to 53-man roster

The Tennessee Titans signed kicker Brayden Narveson to the active roster for their Week 16 battle with the Indianapolis Colts.

The Tennessee Titans made a roster move on Saturday in preparation for their AFC South battle with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

The team not only signed kicker Brayden Narveson to the 53-man roster, they extended him through the 2025 season. This is a solid move, adding a player with some upside now and protecting him through the offseason as they build their 90-man roster.

The move also signals that kicker Nick Folk, who is questionable with an abdominal injury, could be in serious jeopardy this week. Folk did return to practice on Friday in a limited capacity, but will not be 100 percent.

The Titans did not have to make a corresponding roster move to add Narveson because they had not filled the spot they opened up after waiving Leroy Watson in Week 15.

The Titans will be back on the field on Sunday when they travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Colts in Week 16 action.

Titans injury report: Luke Gifford out, Nick Folk questionable

The Tennessee Titans released their final Week 16 injury report and see multiple starters questionable for their battle with the Colts.

The Tennessee Titans finished up their work on the field in preparation for their Week 16 battle with the Indianapolis Colts on Friday and have a lot of injury questions heading into the weekend.

The biggest blow could be the loss of kicker Nick Folk. Folk returned to practice on Friday and was limited. The Titans listed Folk as questionable, but expect kicker Brayden Narveson to be elevated as an emergency option. That could play a huge role in the outcome of what should be a close game.

Quarterback Will Levis was added to the injury report and was limited with a shoulder injury. This coincides with reports that he aggravated it against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14 and attempted to play through it last week. Levis is questionable this week.

Linebacker Luke Gifford and wide receiver Colton Dowell were the only players listed as out on the Friday report.

The final injury report and game statuses for the Titans and Colts are below.

Tennessee Titans

Out: LB Luke Gifford (concussion), WR Colton Dowell (knee)

Doubtful: None

Questionable: LB Kenneth Murray (hamstring), K Nick Folk (abdomen), QB Will Levis (shoulder), OT Jaelyn Duncan (hamstring), RB Tony Pollard (ankle), Otis Reese (ankle)

Indianapolis Colts

Doubtful: None

Questionable: TE Mo Alie-Cox (hip), WR Ashton Dulin (ankle), K Matt Gay (neck), CB Julius Brents (knee), LB Jaylon Carlies (fibula/shoulder), C Ryan Kelly (knee)

Titans injury report: Tony Pollard, Nick Folk out

The Tennessee Titans welcomed T’Vondre Sweat, Jeffery Simmons and Daryl Worley back to practice on Thursday on their injury report.

The Tennessee Titans hit the field on Thursday to continue their preparations for their battle with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday and welcomed back a couple of players.

This is some great news for a team that enters the week battered and bruised. After seeing 10 players sidelined due to injury on Wednesday, that number dropped to seven. That is still a large number but it is a step in the right direction. Jeffery Simmons, T’Vondre Sweat and Daryl Worley all returned and were full participants.

The biggest piece of news on the injury front came from special teams coach Colt Anderson, when he stated that the abdominal injury that is bothering kicker Nick Folk is a remnant of the groin injury that bothered him last week. If he can’t go this week against the Colts, expect Brayden Narveson to be activated from the practice squad to take his place.

Wide receiver Colton Dowell was again limited. At this stage there is no timeline for his return, but practicing again is a great first step.

The Titans’ complete injury report for Thursday can be found below.

Did not participate: LB Kenneth Murray (hamstring), WR Tyler Boyd (foot), K Nick Folk (abdomen), RB Tony Pollard (ankle), LB Luke Gifford (concussion), LB Otis Reese (ankle), Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (ankle)

Limited participant: WR Colton Dowell (knee)

Full participant: CB Roger McCreary (shoulder), OT Jaelyn Duncan (hamstring), DT Jeffery Simmons (NIR/rest), DT T’Vondre Sweat (shoulder), DB Daryl Worley (calf),

Titans injury report: Tony Pollard, Roger McCreary questionable

The Tennessee Titans released their final injury report and see multiple starters led by Tony Pollard questionable for Week 15.

The Tennessee Titans finished up their work on the field in preparation for their Week 15 battle with the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday and appear to be getting healthier.

As head coach Brian Callahan noted prior to practice, no player has been ruled out for the contest, but there are still some that are battling injuries and are questionable.

On a positive note, kicker Nick Folk again practiced fully and will play on Sunday barring a setback. The same can be said for starters JC Latham and Kenneth Murray, who returned to practice Friday and have no designations.

Linebacker Otis Reese (ankle) and cornerback Roger McCreary (shoulder) did not practice and are both questionable. While running back Tony Pollard returned but was limited with his ankle injury and is also questionable.

The final injury report and game statuses for the Titans and Bengals are below.

Tennessee Titans

Out: None

Doubtful: None

Questionable: CB Roger McCreary (shoulder), OT Jaelyn Duncan (hamstring), RB Tony Pollard (ankle), Otis Reese (ankle)

Cincinnati Bengals

Out: DT Sheldon Rankins (illness), OT Orlando Brown Jr. (fibula), LB Joe Bachie (groin)

Questionable: WR Charlie Jones (groin)

Titans injury report: Tony Pollard out, JC Latham limited

The Tennessee Titans added offensive tackle JC Latham to the injury report after practice on Thursday with a hip injury.

The Tennessee Titans were again on the field continuing their preparations for their Week 15 battle with the Cincinnati Bengals.

After injuring his ankle on Wednesday, linebacker Otis Reese did not take part in this session; his absence, coupled with starter Kenneth Murray still being sidelined, could impact depth at the inside linebacker position this weekend.

Kicker Nick Folk returned to practice but is dealing with soreness in his groin. Kicker Brayden Narveson also practiced but is being viewed as an insurance policy in case Folk can’t go.

Murray, Reese, and Tony Pollard were the only players to sit out in practice. Offensive tackle JC Latham was added to the injury report and was a limited participant with a hip injury.

All other players returned to the field were full participants.

The Titans’ complete injury report for Thursday can be found below.

Did not participate: LB Kenneth Murray (hamstring), RB Tony Pollard (ankle), LB Otis Reese (ankle)

Limited participant: OT JC Latham (hip)

Full participant: CB Roger McCreary (shoulder), OT Jaelyn Duncan (hamstring), OG Peter Skoronski (ankle), LB Jerome Baker (neck), LB Luke Gifford (calf), QB Will Levis (shoulder), DT Jeffery Simmon (NIR/rest). DT T’Vondre Sweat (shoulder), WR Tyler Boyd (foot), K Nick Folk (groin)

Titans injury report: Nick Folk out, Otis Reese limited

The Tennessee Titans returned to practice on Wednesday and multiple starters including Nick Folk on the sidelines.

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field on Wednesday as they started some preparations for their Week 15 battle with the Cincinnati Bengals. Before the session began, some news on a potential injury broke on social media.

This injury to linebacker Otis Reese is concerning, considering the Titans are already down multiple players at the position. Linebackers Kenneth Murray and Jerome Baker both missed Week 14 and although Baker was a full participant, Murray did not suit up for practice.

Kicker Nick Folk did not practice due to a groin injury. This clarifies the news that broke on Tuesday prior to the Titans signing kicker Brayden Narveson.

Murray, Folk, Tyler Boyd, Jeffery Simmons, Tony Pollard and T’Vondre Sweat were all held out on Wednesday, and Reese was limited. All other injured Titans practiced full.

The Titans complete injury report for Wednesday can be found below.

Did not participate: DT Jeffery Simmons (NIR/rest), LB Kenneth Murray (hamstring), DT T’Vondre Sweat (shoulder), WR Tyler Boyd (foot), K Nick Folk (groin), RB Tony Pollard (ankle)

Limited participant: LB Otis Reese (ankle)

Titans signing Brayden Narveson with Nick Folk injured

Tennessee Titans kicker Nick Folk is dealing with an undisclosed injury leading them back to preseason darling Brayden Narveson.

After another disappointing Sunday, the Tennessee Titans have turned their attention toward Week 15 and the Cincinnati Bengals.

On Tuesday, word came out that the team was signing kicker Brayden Narveson to the practice squad. As the news broke, it was also reported that kicker Nick Folk is suffering from an undisclosed injury.

This came as a bit of a surprise as head coach Brian Callahan did not mention Folk or potentially adding a kicker during his weekly press availability.

Narveson was a training camp darling, showing a strong leg and accuracy. He was released during final cuts and was picked up by the Green Bay Packers, where his accuracy came into question. With Green Bay, he connected on 12-of-17 field goals before being released.

If Folk can’t go this week, it will further impact the special teams. He has been a model of consistency in 2024 and has been one of the most reliable players on the team.

Folk has been nearly perfect, going 21-of-22 on field goals, including 6-of-6 on kicks over 50 yards.

The Titans will return to practice on Wednesday and more information on Folk and his injury should come out then. This is, however, another blow that could further cloud an already dismal season.

Titans vs. Vikings: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 11

The Tennessee Titans square off in a Sunday afternoon battle against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11. Here are three reasons for concern.

The Tennessee Titans are coming off another loss — this time it was against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Will Levis returned from his shoulder injury and was solid, but the Chargers were more physically and technically sound in every facet of the game. This week, the 2-7 Titans will take on the 7-2 Minnesota Vikings in a game that features two strong defenses and quarterbacks that are turnover-prone. Unfortunately, for Titans fans, the Vikings are a better team.

Still, for Titans fans, there are some reasons for optimism in Week 11, and here are three of them.

Corey Perrine/Florida Times-Union

Darnolds’ turnovers

Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold started the season on fire and looked like a new player. What a difference a few weeks make. Darnold has reverted back to his erratic ways and was a major reason why the Vikings were almost upset on the road in Jacksonville. He threw three interceptions against the Jags and five in the past two games. The Titans have a better defense than the Jaguars and could cause problems for Darnold.

Kicking game

If there is one area where the Titans’ special teams are not a disaster, and they have a clear advantage in this game, it is at kicker. Nick Folk did see his perfect season come to an end, but he is still 12-of-13 on field goals with a long of 53 yards and 17-of-17 on extra points. This contrasts sharply with Vikings kicker John Parker Romo, who will be kicking in only his second game. He did go 4-of-4 against Jacksonville, but if the game is on the line, my money would be on Folk.

Schedule

The Vikings are traveling to Nashville a week after traveling to Jacksonville and a week before returning home to take on their division rivals: the Chicago Bears. With the Bears in a tailspin, the Vikings could be looking past the Titans toward an opportunity to kick the Bears when they’re down. It’s not much, but the Vikings squeaked by the Jaguars a week ago and the Titans are a more balanced team.

Titans vs. Bills: 3 reasons for optimism in Week 7

The Tennessee Titans take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday afternoon in Week 7 and here are three reasons for optimism.

After a tumultuous week, the Tennessee Titans (1-4) are set to travel to Orchard Park to take on the Buffalo Bills (4-2) at Highmark Stadium in Week 7 action.

There is no secret that the Titans are struggling to get going in 2024. Their offense has been anemic behind turnover-prone Will Levis and the defense tends to fade late in ballgames. Heading into a game against the high-powered Bills offense and a ball-hawking secondary, this could spell disaster.

Yet, for Titans fans, there are some reasons for optimism, and here are three of them.

Titans rushing attack

The Titans will likely be without Tyjae Spears this week as he recovers from his hamstring injury. But, that will mean a bigger dose of Tony Pollard. Pollard has been the one constant for the struggling offense leading the team with 339 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He appears fully recovered from past injuries and has shown flashes of being the dynamic back of the past.

The Bills defense is tough against the pass but sits near the bottom of the NFL against the run. The Titans should employ another conservative run-oriented game plan to take advantage of this and protect Will Levis from the Bills secondary.

Improved offensive line play

This by no way means that the offensive line is complete or close to the top of their game, but with the insertion of Leroy Watson at right tackle the unit showed improvement coming off the bye against the Indianapolis Colts. Not only did Levis have time to throw, they did not allow a sack for the first time in three seasons. The Bills will be without their top pass rusher Von Miller, who is serving a four-game suspension and the line could again take a step forward.

Nick Folk

If there is one area where the Titans have a clear advantage in the game it is at kicker. Nick Folk has been perfect on the season, going 8-for-8 on field goals, with a long of 53 yards, and 10-for-10 on extra points. This is in sharp contrast to Bills kicker Tyler Bass, who has only connected on 75 percent of his attempts in 2024. Buffalo is so concerned about their erratic kicking situation that they added kicker Lucas Havrisik to the practice squad this week to compete with Bass. This may be a small advantage for the Titans, but it could be a critical one.

Titans’ Nick Folk named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Tennessee Titans kicker Nick Folk was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his Week 4 performance against the Miami Dolphins.

The Tennessee Titans are having a good week.

After continuing their Monday night dominance over the Miami Dolphins with their 31-12 win, they saw one of their own take home league honors on Wednesday.

Kicker Nick Folk was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

In this must-win contest, Folk connected on all five of his field goal attempts for the Titans in their win.

One of the elder statesmen in the league, the 39-year-old Folk became the oldest player in NFL history to connect on three field goals over 50 yards. In all, he hit from 53, 52, 47, 51, and 29 yards on his kicks against the Dolphins.

For the 17-year veteran, this is the seventh time he has connected on five field goals in a game and the 11th time Folk has received the award.

With the Titans in their bye week, Folk won’t have a chance to go for a 12th award until their Week 6 match-up against the Indianapolis Colts.
