Falcons at Packers game notes

  • The Packers have surged out to a 3-0 record while outscoring their opponents by a total of 122-85. All three wins came by at least a 7-point margin and Green Bay is 3-0 ATS while covering the line by 11.5 points per game.
  • The Falcons have blown big leads in each of their last two games, losing outright to the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears. They lost 38-25 to the Seattle Seahawks in their season opener.
  • These two teams haven’t played since Week 14 of the 2018 season. The Packers won 34-20 with interim head coach Joe Philbin. Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns with one interception in that loss.
  • The Packers (40.7) and Falcons (30.0) rank first and sixth, respectively, in points per game through three weeks. It’s why this matchup had the highest projected Over/Under of the Week 4 slate.
  • After leading the league with 19 rushing and receiving touchdowns in 2019, Packers RB Aaron Jones has five total touchdowns and 398 yards from scrimmage through three games.

Falcons at Packers: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Packers 38, Falcons 27

Money line (?)

The Packers (-295) will remain undefeated and move to 4-0 at home against a win-less Falcons (+245) team. Falcons head coach Dan Quinn is fighting to keep his job amid his team’s woeful start, but the Week 4 matchup isn’t playing to his favor.

Expect an offensive shootout with the Packers getting a few more defensive stops when needed. PASS on the unprofitable money line and look to the spread for a greater profit.

Against the spread (?)

The PACKERS -6.5 (-110) have won each of their three games by at least 7 points. The Falcons (+6.5, -110) built large leads the last two weeks but won’t be able to do the same against the highly-efficient Packers attack.

The Packers have the better ground game and will be able to simply run out the clock once establishing a large lead.

Over/Under (?)

The Packers won’t have Adams but Jones and Ridley are both expected to play for the Falcons. Both teams are similarly injury-riddled on the defensive side and there’s more offensive depth.

Take the OVER 56.5 (-110) with Rodgers and the Packers leading the way and Ryan and the Falcons keeping pace until late in the game.

Patriots at Chiefs game notes

  • This game was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was postponed after Patriots QB Cam Newton tested positive for COVID-19 Saturday. QB Brian Hoyer is expected to start under center for the Pats.
  • Hoyer went 0-1 for the Indianapolis Colts last season. He completed 53.8% of 65 passes for 372 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions over four games with one start.
  • The Chiefs have now had a full week of rest following a 34-20 beat down of the Baltimore Ravens last Monday night. The Patriots beat the Las Vegas Raiders 36-20 Sunday of Week 3.
  • Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 898 yards and nine touchdowns without an interception through three games. The Patriots are allowing 235.3 passing yards per game and rank second in the NFL with a plus-4 turnover differential (4 INTs, 3 fumbles).
  • Kansas City won 23-16 in Week 14 at Gillette Stadium last season. Mahomes completed 26 of 40 passes for 283 yards with one TD and one INT.

Patriots at Chiefs: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Chiefs 28, Patriots 13

Money line (?)

The Chiefs were already the favorites at home in this marquee AFC showdown before Newton was ruled out. The two best head coaches in the NFL will be the two giving a blueprint to the NFL on how to handle any future games that may be postponed on short notice due to COVID testing.

The Patriots have started strong while altering their offensive scheme to fit Newton. Hoyer knows the Tom Brady-led system from previous stints with Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, but he’s no match for Mahomes. The +490 price is intriguing for New England, but the Chiefs (-668) will win this at home.

We’ll PASS due to the lack of value on the money line and look to the spread.

Against the spread (?)

The CHIEFS -11 (-110) can be backed to win by 12 or more points with Newton unavailable Monday. KC is 2-1 against the spread on the year. It’s covering by 5.5 points per game while winning by an average of 10.3 PPG. New England is also 2-1 ATS and winning by 7.0 PPG.

Take the much healthier Chiefs in another statement game against a top AFC contender.

Over/Under (?)

Take the UNDER 50.5 (-110) with the Patriots unlikely to provide enough offense with Newton out.

The New England defense should be able to contain Mahomes and Co. for the majority of the game, but the offense will fall behind and the Chiefs will be able to run out the clock later in the game.
