For the 19th consecutive week, the Jacksonville Jaguars found themselves on the wrong side of the win-loss column Sunday as they fell to the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 31-19 at TIAA Bank Field.

The Jaguars were going into the game as heavy underdogs as they were a 7.5-point underdog according to Tipico Sportsbook, so expectations were incredibly low going into this matchup against one of the NFL’s top offenses. The game was another ugly start from the offense, however, there were some moments such as a 68-yard missed field-goal return touchdown by Jamal Agnew that gave the fanbase hope for the Jags’ first win on the season.

Unfortunately, the Jaguars could not maintain that momentum, though, as the Cardinals would score 21 unanswered points to close out the game and hand the Jaguars another loss. The Cardiac Cats moved to 0-3 as a result, and now have a short amount of time to get prepared for Cincinnati, who they will play during “Thursday Night Football.”

Jags announce Week 3 inactives: CBs Tre Herndon, CJ Henderson among 5 who will sit

This week, there are several key members from the Jags’ defense who won’t be playing against the Cardinals. Meanwhile, Deandre Hopkins is suiting up for Arizona.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without starting cornerback CJ Henderson and defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris. Both players were ruled questionable on the final injury report after being limited in practice.

The other player who was ruled questionable on Friday, cornerback Tre Herndon, will also be out. This means his 2021 regular season debut will be put off for at least another week after he sprained his MCL during Week 1’s game of the preseason.

Joining the three on the inactives list will be rookie pass-rusher Jordan Smith and rookie defensive lineman Jay Tufele. Both didn’t surface in the status column for the Jags and were full participants Friday. Neither has made an appearance in the regular season (though Smith has been injured) and with both being healthy this week, fans will be questioning the Jags’ mindset when it comes to their selections in the draft.

On the Cardinals’ end, DeAndre Hopkins, who didn’t practice this week due to a rib injury, will suit up. Cornerbacks Byron Murphy and Marco Wilson, who also surfaced as questionable options on Friday, will play as well.

The Cardinals’ full list of inactives are as follows:

  • QB Chris Streveler
  • RB Eno Benjamin
  • CB Tay Gowan
  • CB Luq Barcoo
  • WR Andy Isabella
  • OT Kelvin Beachum
  • OLB Victor Dimukeje

More on their inactives can be found on Cards Wire.

Jags Week 3 final injury report: Henderson, Herndon, and Robertson-Harris ruled questionable

Three players were ruled questionable on Week 3’s final injury report for the Jags. Those players were CB Tre Herndon, CB CJ Henderson, and DL Roy Robertson-Harris.

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without two players who’ve started for them in their first two games in cornerback CJ Henderson (groin) and defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris (ankle). Both players were two of the three players ruled questionable on the final injury report for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The only other player to join the two in the status column was veteran corner Tre Herndon (knee), who was also ruled questionable.

Of the three, Henderson could be the most significant blow (if he can’t play) when looking at the receivers the Cardinals have in DeAndre Hopkins (who is a game-time decision), A.J. Green, Christian Kirk, and Rondale Moore. After missing practice on Thursday, the second-year cornerback was able to practice as a limited participant Friday, so he shouldn’t be counted out, though groin injuries are tricky.

If Herndon is able to return, it could be huge for the Jags as he’s one of their most experienced cornerbacks. That could also help with a decision on Henderson, too, if needed. Herndon, who sprained his MCL during Week 1 of the preseason and hasn’t played in the regular season, has practice as a limited participant the last two weeks but has yet to be a full participant in the regular season.

With two cornerbacks ruled questionable, the Jags signed veteran cornerback Nevin Lawson this week. If needed they also have Brandon Rusnak and Lorenzo Burns on their practice squad.

Robertson-Harris surfaced on the injury report after Sunday’s game against Denver. If he can’t go, the Jags have veteran Adam Gotsis as an option as well as fourth-year player Taven Bryan.

Podcast: Reviewing Jags’ Week 2 loss, looking ahead to Week 3 with Cards Wire

The Cardinals are favored to win Sunday’s game and most don’t think it will be pretty. Still, we went ahead and got a little intel on Kyler Murray and Co. as they prepare for the Jags.

Another regular season game is in the books for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and unfortunately, it came with another loss for the team.

in Episode 88 of “Bleav in the Jaguars” Jags Wire’s Phil Smith and James Johnson reviewed what went wrong for the team against the Denver Broncos, who defeated Jacksonville in their home opener by a score of 23-13. In a nutshell, the duo pinned this one mostly on offense, which came out hot but cooled down after the first drive.

Afterward, James and Phil were joined by Cards Wire editor Jess Root to preview Week 3’s game. Among the topics discussed along the way was Kliff Kingsbury’s development as an NFL head coach, Kyler Murray’s growth, the Cardinals’ defense, and a score prediction from Card Wire’s perspective.

Cardinals vs. Jags injury report: Cann, Smith upgraded to full participation

The Jags upgraded four players on the injury report Thursday and A.J. Cann was among them.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had four upgrades occur on their injury report on Thursday. That included guard A.J. Cann (hamstring) and pass-rusher Jordan Smith (knee), who went from being limited on Wednesday to full participation on Thursday.

The other two upgrades were to center Brandon Linder (back) and defensive lineman Jay Tufele (illness), who went from not practicing on Wednesday to being limited on Thursday.

Unfortunately, there was also one player who was downgraded, and that was a starter in cornerback CJ Henderson. He did not practice Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. It appears the Jags have been preparing to not have him, though, as they signed veteran cornerback Nevin Lawson.

Veteran receiver Marvin Jones Jr. also didn’t practice on Thursday, but it was to rest. He led the team in receiving Sunday with six catches for 55 yards and the team probably wants him as close to 100% as possible against the Arizona Cardinals, who have one of the hottest offenses in the NFL.

Of the remaining players on the report, Laviska Shenault Jr. (shoulder) and Lerenetee McCray (hamstring) participated fully for their second straight days, while defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris and cornerback Tre Herndon remained limited.

Jags listed as 7.5-point home underdogs vs. Cardinals for Week 3

Per Tipico Sportsbook, the Cards will enter Sunday’s game as the favorites over the Jags by more than a touchdown.

After losing their first two games, the Jacksonville Jaguars will hope for better luck against the Arizona Cardinals Sunday. However, the problem with that is the fact that the Cardinals are red hot, and offensively, they are playing at a Super Bowl-like level.

When considering this, the Cardinals are currently listed as favorites on the road by a -7.5 (-107) figure, according to Tipico Sportsbook. That means if the Cards get a victory by eight points or more, a $107 bet would win a bettor $100.

As for the Jags, they are listed with a spread figure of +7.5 (-115) as the underdogs, which means a bet of $115 would earn a bettor $100 if the Jags get a victory or lose by no more than seven.

As for the money line, the Jags have a +265 figure there, which means an upset victory on their part would earn a bettor $265 if they wager $100. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are down with a -350 figure on the money line, so a bet of $350 on a Cardinals victory would earn a bettor $100.

Lastly, the over/under figure is set at 51.5, which is the highest figure the Jags have had on a game so far. That figure comes as the Cards have scored 38 and 34 points, respectively, in their last two games.
