Titans NFL power rankings round-up going into Week 17

Check out where the Titans fall in the NFL power rankings of experts going into Week 17.

After yet another loss in Week 16, with this one coming against the Seattle Seahawks, the Tennessee Titans are moving down or staying put in most of the NFL power rankings of experts going into Week 17.

We start our weekly round-up with USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, who dropped the Titans from No. 23 to No. 25. Here’s what he had to say:

25. Tennessee Titans (23): Two years in, pretty crazy they won’t even leverage an opportunity to potentially showcase QB Malik Willis to other teams.

I actually agree with Davis’ take here.

Playing Ryan Tannehill does absolutely nothing for this franchise, as the veteran signal-caller certainly won’t be here in 2024.

It would make more sense to give Malik Willis a shot, with the hope he can improve his currently non-existent trade value. Granted, he likely would’ve failed to do so, but it was worth a shot, nonetheless.

But I digress — here’s our NFL power rankings round-up for Week 17 of the 2023 NFL season.

Titans power rankings round-up for Week 17: Tennessee continues its slide

One expert has the Titans dropping a whopping 14 spots in his NFL power rankings.

The Tennessee Titans continued on their downward spiral with a fifth-straight loss in a 19-14 defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans in Week 16, and as a result, they are mostly moving down in the NFL power rankings of experts.

We start with USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, who ranks the Titans at No. 23 on his list, falling four spots from last week. Here’s his take on Tennessee:

23. Titans (19): Rookie QB Malik Willis has started three games yet hasn’t passed for 100 yards in any of them. Starting to become apparent why he slipped into the third round.

It’s definitely true that Willis hasn’t done much through the air in three starts, but it was always understood he would need time to develop and wouldn’t be ready in Year 1.

It also hasn’t helped that Willis has to overcome bad play-calling, poor pass protection, and one of the worst wide receiver corps. in the NFL.

Titans NFL power rankings round-up going into Week 17

Where experts are ranking the Titans going into Week 17.

The Tennessee Titans notched a huge win in Week 16 over the San Francisco 49ers, which has them standing pat or moving up in the NFL power rankings of experts going into Week 17.

We start our weekly power rankings round-up with USA TODAY’s Nate Davis, who has the Titans remaining in the same spot at No. 9. Here’s his thoughts on Tennessee:

9. Titans (9): How crucial was return of WR A.J. Brown? He set league record with eight catches on third down in Week 16 upset of San Francisco.

Brown’s return was indeed a game-changer for the Titans, as he finished with a career-high 11 catches for 145 yards and a touchdown, providing a much-needed lift for Tennessee’s passing game in his first contest back.

If Brown can stay on the field and the Titans can get Derrick Henry back while continuing to play elite defense, Tennessee will be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time.
