Raiders TE Brock Bowers named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November

Raiders rookie phenom TE Brock Bowers’s historic November has him named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for November.

Being on a record pace not just for tight ends but for a rookie at any positions tends to garner some attention. And Brock Bowers has earned some notoriety of late, including, as of Thursday being announced as the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Month for November.

The 13th overall pick put up some monster numbers in November with 32 catches for 349 yards and three touchdowns over four games inside the month.

He set two new career highs in the month, first against Miami when he had the third most catches in a game in franchise history (13) for 126 yards and a touchdown. Then he finished the month strong in a hostile environment in Kansas City when he posted a new career-high with 140 yards on ten catches and a touchdown.

Even before this past month, Bowers was on an historic pace that put him among the greatest tight ends in NFL history.

His consistent ability to get open, make tough catches, and get yards after the catch had head coach Antonio Pierce removing all comparisons from his uniquely talented rookie offensive weapon.

Jayden Daniels is the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month

Jayden Daniels is the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.

September 2024 will be remembered in the NFL as the month of Jayden Daniels. The Washington Commanders rookie quarterback has won numerous awards for his play over the season’s first month and added a big one on Thursday: NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.

In addition, Daniels was named the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week last week, the third time he’s won the award in four weeks.

The No. 2 overall pick completed 87 of his 106 passing attempts for 897 yards, with three touchdowns and one interception. Daniels also rushed for 218 yards and four touchdowns.

His 82.1% completion percentage is a rookie record for a quarterback’s first four NFL games and an NFL record for a four-game stretch with a minimum of 20 attempts.

Daniels is the first Washington player to win NFL Rookie of the Month since Robert Griffin III did it twice in 2012.

Through four games, Daniels has led more scoring drives (23) than he has incomplete passes (19). The Commanders have punted only one time over the past three games.

Daniels has the Commanders at 3-1 and in sole possession of first place in the NFC East. Washington hosts the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Jordan Addison wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month

Addison has been excellent so far this season and was awarded for it on Thursday

The Minnesota Vikings found another great wide receiver in the early 20’s of the NFL draft in Jordan Addison. After an excellent month of October, Addison won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month.

What makes this really impressive is that Addison started the month with a dud of a game where he caught no passes against the Carolina Panthers. He followed it up by dominating his competition. He caught 23 passes for 297 yards and five touchdowns.

It wasn’t just his stats that were great, Addison dominated opposing cornerbacks. He was attacking them in every way, including deep where post routes have been a favorite of the Vikings so far this season.

This is Addison’s first NFL Rookie of the Month award and he also became the fifth Vikings player to win the award and the sixth overall recipent.

Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud earns NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud has been named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for September 2023.

The NFL has named Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for September.

Stroud becomes the first Texans rookie to win the award since 2017 and the eighth player in team history to earn such an honor.

The No. 2 overall pick completed 78-of-121 pass attempts (64.5%) for 906 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions with 98.0 passer rating. Stroud is first in all major passing categories among rookies across the NFL including completions, yards, passer rating, touchdown passes, touchdown-interception ratio, yards per attempt and more.

Stroud’s completion percentage, completions, passing yards, passing touchdowns, and passer rating all rank first by a Texans rookie through the first three weeks of any season. The former Ohio State product’s passer rating is also the third-highest in league history by a rookie in the same time frame.

Stroud is the first Texans offensive rookie to win the award since October 2017. Receiver DeAndre Hopkins secured the award in September 2013. Running back Steve Slaton picked up the honor in December 2008. Running back Domanick Williams was the first Texans offensive rookie to earn the award in October 2003.

Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts was when Stroud built the bulk of his campaign for rookie of the month. In the 31-20 loss at NRG Stadium, Stroud completed 30 passes on 47 attempts for 384 yards, two touchdowns, and a 103.5 passer rating. Not only were they the second-most passing yards in team history for a rookie, but they were the second-most by a player 21-or-younger since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Only Matthew Stafford’s 422 in 2009 were more.

Stroud’s 906 passer yards are also the third-most in NFL history for a rookie through Week 3. Only Cam Newton’s 1,012 in 2011 and Justin Herbert’s 931 in 2020 are more.

Stroud has also surpassed Warren Moon (103), Carson Wentz (102), Case Keenum (102) and Tom Brady (101) for most passes attempted to begin a career without an interception with 121 and counting.

In total, the Texans now have nine total rookie of the month winners, including coach DeMeco Ryans as a linebacker in December 2006.

Bang: the NFL has selected Chris Olave as its Offensive Rookie of the Month for September, putting the New Orleans Saints wide receiver under a bright spotlight. It’s well-deserved recognition after his strong start to the 2022 season — Olave currently leads the Saints in targets (29), receptions (17), and receiving yards (268), boasting an impressive 15.8 yards per catch.

Drafted at No. 12 overall out of Ohio State, Olave is joined by Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd (selected at No. 27 out of Utah) as the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September. They’ve been leading the charge for what’s looking like another strong rookie draft class.

It’s almost hard to believe that more big plays have been left on the field, but it’s true. Olave has gotten open early and often against some of the NFL’s best defensive backs, toasting corners like A.J. Terrell, Carlton Davis, and Jaycee Horn, but Jameis Winston has struggled to throw accurate passes his way while battling a couple of different injuries. Hopefully he can adjust and get even stronger production out of one of the NFL’s most exciting first-year players.
