Chargers sign Cameron Dicker to contract extension

Cameron Dicker is now one of the highest-paid kickers in football.

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed Cameron Dicker to a contract extension in a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid kickers in football.

The deal is for four years, worth $22.004 million and includes $12.5 million guaranteed. He is signed through the 2028 season.

Since coming to Los Angeles in 2022, Dicker has been a key piece for special teams coordinator Ryan Ficken. He has converted 52 of his 55 field goal attempts, seven of which were from 50+ yards, and he has made all his extra points.

Before joining the Bolts, Dicker was signed by the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Texas. After a short stint, he bounced around and spent some time with the Ravens and Eagles.

Justin Tucker is having the worst season of his career

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has made 80.8% of his field goal attempts in 2023. That’s a career low for him.

Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has been one of the most dominant kickers in NFL history, ensuring three points when the offense stalls out or, more importantly, when a game-winning kick is needed. Yet, at 80.8%, Tucker’s success rate on field goals this season is a career low.

In 2022, Tucker led the NFL in field goals made. This year, he ranks No. 12 with 21 made kicks. Tucker also led the NFL in field goal attempts last season, and his sure leg has taken some expected decline this year. At age 34, Tucker has been asked to make five field goals from 50-plus yards this season, and he has only connected on one.

These stats explain why quarterback Lamar Jackson’s mediocrity in the passing game must be fixed. The Ravens must continue finishing drives with touchdowns and detach from the idea that Tucker will be perfect.

Tucker’s perfection has been a luxury for the Ravens in the past, but now they must be realistic about their expectations of him. With the NFL’s No. 1 ranked defense in points allowed, the Ravens should enter the next few games with fair optimism. Their timely Week 13 bye may be precisely what they need to recalibrate before the final stretch of the season.

2022 Fantasy Football Kicker Rankings: the most reliable legs behind Justin Tucker

Ranking the top kickers in fantasy football.

Before we get into this, let’s be clear about a few things. This ranking is not in the order of who I think the best kickers in the NFL are. If it was, Justin Tucker would be first, Evan McPherson would likely be second, and it definitely wouldn’t reach 25 names.

Rather, these rankings are a guess of which kickers I believe will have the most opportunity to accumulate points. It weighs offenses that could potentially move the ball on a consistent basis but not finish drives vs. offenses that will simply score a lot of points vs. offenses that will have a harder time, and we try to figure it out from there.

Let’s get into it.
