How many games will the Buffalo Bills win in the 2020 NFL season? We look at BetMGM‘s projected win total and the Over/Under odds, while looking back at the 2019 season and key offseason roster changes.
Buffalo Bills’ 2019 season
The Bills far outplayed expectations last season, going 10-6 and clinching a wild-card berth in the AFC. They were carried by a dominant defense ranked second in points allowed and third in yards against. Meanwhile, the offense was 23rd and 24th in those two categories, respectively.
They were a good team to bet on, too, going 9-6-2 against the spread in their 17 total games, including the playoffs. QB Josh Allen continued to develop into a better quarterback, but if not for the defense, Buffalo wouldn’t have finished above .500.
Buffalo Bills’ 2020 offseason changes
The Bills’ biggest offseason addition was the acquisition of WR Stefon Diggs in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings. Buffalo also added CB Josh Norman as a free agent, as well as DE Mario Addison and LB A.J. Klein.
They didn’t suffer many key losses, however, with their biggest departures being RB Frank Gore, DE Shaq Lawson and DT Jordan Phillips.

Projected wins: 8.5 / OVER: -143 / UNDER: +120
The departure of Tom Brady from the AFC East might be the Bills’ biggest benefit of the offseason, finally giving them a really good chance to win the division. Brady and the Patriots had been dominant for the last 20 years, but that run could end now that the veteran quarterback is in Tampa Bay.
As a result, the Bills look like the favorites to take over the perch held by New England. Their defense didn’t suffer any major losses, and if Allen continues on his current trajectory, Buffalo’s offense should pick up the slack.
The schedule isn’t the easiest, with the Chargers, 49ers, Cardinals Seahawks, Rams and Steelers on the docket, but the Bills showed last year they can compete with and slow down even the top offenses.
I’m going with the OVER 8.5 (-143) on the Bills, in anticipation that Allen will improve again and the Pats will regress.
