When to pick A.J. Green in your fantasy football draft

Assessing Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green’s 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Below, we focus on Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green and his fantasy football potential this year.

A.J. Green’s fantasy football ADP

Green currently has an average draft position of 67.26, according to MyFantasyLeague.com. He is being drafted as WR28, behind the likes of DeVante Parker (WR26) and T.Y. Hilton (WR27)

Reasons to draft A.J. Green

  • When healthy, Green is still one of the best deep threats in all of the NFL. He has averaged an impressive 14.8 yards per reception throughout his entire career.
  • Green is still the Bengals’ No. 1 receiver and should see a ton of targets with new QB Joe Burrow in command. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Green saw double-digit targets multiple times this season.
  • Green is one of the few receivers that could finish as a No. 1 WR in fantasy as he has the talent and pedigree to put together a monster season in Cincinnati. The upside is massive for the former Georgia star.

Reasons not to draft A.J. Green

  • Green has not played in an NFL game since Dec. 2, 2018, and is already dealing with a hamstring injury.
  • The Bengals have several other intriguing options at wide receiver, including Tyler Boyd, John Ross, Tee Higgins and Auden Tate.

Where should I draft A.J. Green in fantasy football drafts?

Deciding where to draft Green is one of the most difficult decisions fantasy managers have to make right now. Many owners selected him in the fifth or sixth round last season and he never appeared in a game while dealing with a lingering foot injury.

BengalsWire:

While he is mostly healthy right now, there are some concerns about his durability heading into the season. His upside far outweighs the possible injury risk because Green has proven to be a dominant player in the NFL.

In the first seven years of his career, Green averaged 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns per season despite a number of missed games in between. Whenever he is on the field, he is a threat to score a touchdown at any moment given his size, ball skills and incredible ability to make plays after the catch.

There is certainly some risk to taking him in the sixth or seventh round this year, but he can be a league-winner when he’s on the field. Don’t be afraid to pick the seven-time Pro Bowl receiver anytime after the top-50 or so selections.

Do I pick RB Leonard Fournette in my fantasy football draft?

Assessing Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Leonard Fournette’s 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Below, we focus on Tamp Bay Buccaneers RB Leonard Fournette and his fantasy football potential this year.

Leonard Fournette’s Fantasy Football ADP

Fournette’s average draft position is 38.01, ranging between the second overall pick and No. 203, according to MyFantasyLeague.com. He ranks 18th among fantasy running backs as a mid-range RB2 and is owned in 79% of leagues.

Reasons to draft Leonard Fournette

  • He has proven he can be a workhorse back in the NFL, twice rushing for more than 1,000 yards in three seasons.
  • Having signed with the Buccaneers, he will be playing in an offense under head coach Bruce Arians that has produced fantasy studs.
  • His size and power make him a strong goalline runner.

Reasons not to draft Leonard Fournette

  • At least for now, he will be a rotational player in Tampa Bay behind Ronald Jones.
  • He has not yet played a full 16-game season.
  • He scored only three total touchdowns last season.

Where should I draft PLAYER in fantasy football drafts?

Fournette should not be a priority for you to draft. His lack of fantasy production and his limited playing time early on will limit his value.

In PPR leagues, he has some value because he can catch the ball, as evidenced by his 76 receptions a season ago, but he did not find the end zone as a receiver.

Depending on how deep your league is, he is someone to watch on the waiver wire. In a few weeks, he might end up being the starter for the Buccaneers. Then he will be someone to grab.

If you want to bank on him, take him in late rounds in your draft. He could be a nice pickup late because of the potential to take over, playing with QB Tom Brady.

When to pick Todd Gurley in your fantasy football draft

Assessing Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley’s 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Below, we focus on Atlanta Falcons RB Todd Gurley and his fantasy football potential this year.

Todd Gurley’s fantasy football ADP

Gurley currently has an average draft position (ADP of 29.13, going as high as No. 1 in some drafts and as low as 120th in others, according to MyFantasyLeague.com. That makes him RB15 in terms of ADP, behind Arizona Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake and Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders.

Reasons to draft Todd Gurley

  • Gurley gets a fresh start with the Falcons, returning to Georgia where he played his college ball. In an offense that features QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones, he won’t have to be the main catalyst in Atlanta.
  • The Falcons don’t have much proven talent behind Gurley on the depth chart, which is an indication that he should get the bulk of the carries. RBs Brian Hill, Qadree Ollison and Ito Smith are his backups.
  • Even in a down year yardage-wise, Gurley still scored 14 touchdowns in 15 games for the Los Angeles Rams last season, his third straight season with at least 14 scores.

Reasons not to draft Todd Gurley

  • The lingering questions about his knee have not gone away, especially with Gurley getting rest days in training camp on a regular basis.
  • He didn’t look like the same running back last season as he was in 2018, lacking burst and explosiveness through the hole.
  • He only caught 31 passes for 207 yards in 2019, making him one of the least-efficient pass catchers in the NFL. He also dropped seven of his 49 targets.

For in-depth fantasy football statistics, sleepers, custom player rankings and the winning edge in your fantasy football league, subscribe to TheHuddle.com. New customers, take $10 off your order with the code SBW20. This offer expires 9/30/2020 at 11:59 pm ET. Subscribe now!

Where should I draft Todd Gurley in fantasy football drafts?

Gurley remains a relevant fantasy player because of his nose for the end zone and standing in the Falcons backfield. There isn’t much in his way to being Atlanta’s workhose runner, and with how often Ryan likes to target his running backs, he should be in for an improvement as a receiver.

However, his ADP is currently ahead of Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson and Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner, but Gurley will have a hard time outproducing those players.

He should be going around the third or fourth round, behind the aforementioned running backs, and after Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp, Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper and even Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. Gurley’s upside is limited by that balky knee, which clearly isn’t 100 percent healthy and could hinder his workload and/or production.

When to pick David Johnson in your fantasy football draft

Assessing Houston Texans RB David Johnson’s 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Below, we focus on Houston Texans RB David Johnson and his fantasy football potential this season.

David Johnson’s fantasy football ADP

Johnson’s current average draft position (ADP) is 39.98, ranking 21st among running backs and 40th among all players on MyFantasyLeague.com. Johnson, who played his first five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, has been taken as high as No. 2 overall and is owned in 85 percent of leagues.

Reasons to draft David Johnson

  • Everyone will remember his historic 2016 season. He rushed for 1,239 yards, caught 80 passes for 879 yards and scored 20 touchdowns (16 rushing, 4 receiving). That is his potential because he can be a big contributor in the passing game.
  • Johnson should be the No. 1 back in Houston in 2020.

Reasons not to draft David Johnson

  • Johnson has not been a great fantasy producer since 2016
  • The Northern Iowa product is in his fourth offensive system in as many seasons. He struggled to pick up the last two systems he was in.

Where should I draft David Johnson in fantasy football drafts?

Johnson is projected to rush for 950 yards and catch 19 passes for 160 yards, scoring eight total touchdowns. He probably will catch more passes than that, but after being a fantasy stud in 2016, he is more or less a run of the mill starting running back. He is capable but is a solid RB2 to have.

Pick him in later rounds. Do not make him a priority.

When to pick Henry Ruggs III in your fantasy football draft

Assessing Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs’ 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III and his fantasy football potential this year.

Henry Ruggs III’s fantasy football ADP

Average Draft Position on MyFantasyLeague: 96.91 (12 teams, PPR redrafts)

Reasons to draft Henry Ruggs III

  • With the Raiders using the No. 12 pick on Ruggs, they will likely want to get him on the field as soon as possible. And with starting WR Tyrell Williams already injured, Ruggs is a near-lock to be one of the team’s opening receivers in Week 1.
  • Ruggs was among college football’s most explosive players over the last three seasons, averaging 17.5 yards per reception. Despite only 100 career touches, Ruggs scored an incredible 25 touchdowns from scrimmage.
  • Not only does Ruggs have elite speed (4.27 40-yard dash), he also posted an incredible 42-inch vertical and 131-inch broad jump at the NFL Combine.

Reasons not to draft Henry Ruggs III

  • While Ruggs was a home-run threat at Alabama, he was never the team’s leading receiver. The most receptions he’s ever had in a season were 46, so he could be dinged some in PPR leagues.
  • The Raiders aren’t likely to rely on Ruggs heavily in the passing game as a rookie. Instead, they will ask him to contribute 10-12 chunk plays throughout the season. Deciding whether to start Ruggs on a week-by-week basis could prove to be somewhat difficult.

Where should I draft Henry Ruggs III in fantasy football drafts?

Henry Ruggs was the first receiver selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, but should he be the first rookie picked in your fantasy draft? There is clearly a lot of upside here as Ruggs is walking into a situation devoid of a No. 1 receiver. In fact, you can make the case that the Raiders don’t even have a quality No. 2 receiver on their roster now that Williams is suffering from a torn labrum.

Ruggs will likely open the season as one of the team’s starting receivers against the Carolina Panthers. While that, in itself, is enticing, the Raiders aren’t an offense that plans on passing the ball a ton. When they do, QB Derek Carr typically looks to the short to intermediate parts of the field, targeting players like TE Darren Waller and WR Hunter Renfrow.

But considering Ruggs’ current cost, he’s not a bad value. He’s currently being drafted as WR46 and could see a big target share early in the season. If the Raiders get behind early in games, it’s not hard to envision Ruggs seeing seven-eight targets per game.

Given that Ruggs likely won’t be a starting receiver for you right away after being selected after the top-95 picks, don’t be afraid to swing for the fences here. Ruggs will be somewhat unreliable from game to game, but he does have WR2 upside right away if he can find a connection with Carr.

When to pick Daniel Jones in your fantasy football league draft

Assessing New York Giants QB Daniel Jones’ 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football is in the air, and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on New York Giants QB Daniel Jones and his fantasy football potential this year.

Daniel Jones’ Fantasy Football ADP

Average Draft Position on MyFantasyLeague: 111.37 (12 teams, PPR redrafts) – 14th among QBs.

Reasons to draft Daniel Jones

  • Jones, the sixth-overall pick in the 2019 draft, had a dazzling debut as a starter in Week 3, throwing for 336 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 28 yards and two more scores in a 32-31 shootout win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It added up to 39.6 fantasy points – one of four 30-point-plus games among his 12 starts, which placed him among the league leaders. Overall, Jones averaged 22.1 fantasy points per contest, which ranked 11th among QBs with eight or more starts.
  • Jones’ mobility didn’t receive a lot of preseason hype, but it turned out to be a big part of his game as a rookie. He rushed for 20 or more yards in seven of his 12 starts and finished seventh among QBs in rushing yards with 279 on the season.
  • For all of Jones’ first-year accomplishments, he wasn’t even playing with a full deck of weapons in the majority of his starts. Stud RB Saquon Barkley missed three games and the remainder of the team’s top five pass-catchers – TE Evan Engram and WRs Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate and Darius Slayton – sat out at least two contests apiece and a combined 21 overall due to a rash of injury issues. Barring a team virus outbreak, that health luck is bound to be better in 2020.

Reasons not to draft Daniel Jones

  • While Jones’ four 30-point fantasy games were impressive, he only topped 20 fantasy points in one of his other eight starts. Outside of best-ball leagues, those boom-or-bust swings don’t exactly work well at what is regarded to be the most steady and consistent fantasy positions.
  • Fantasy aside, the Giants’ 2019 season was a 4-12 nightmare overall, and a new head coach (Joe Judge) and offensive coordinator (Jason Garrett) are now in place. This obviously has not been the best offseason to learn a new offense, and the time Jones will need to spend adjusting on the fly could very well wind up curtailing a fair amount of his sophomore season fantasy progression.
  • It wasn’t quite a Jameis Winston disaster, but turnovers were a huge issue for Jones as he tossed 12 interceptions and fumbled a league-high 18 times as a rookie, losing 11 of them – also tops among all players. That a negative 46 points in leagues which deduct a pair of points for each turnover, and that red flag could be the deciding factor when comparing Jones and other similarly-ranked QBs in drafts.

Where should I draft Daniel Jones in fantasy football drafts?

In two-quarterback or superflex leagues, Jones will be a sure-fire mid-round target. In 10- or 12-team leagues, he isn’t quite considered starting material but for those fantasy general managers who are mining for a second QB with upside late in drafts, Jones certainly fills the bill.

When to pick Jerry Jeudy in your fantasy football league draft

Assessing Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy’s 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy and his fantasy football potential this year.

Jerry Jeudy’s fantasy football ADP

Jeudy isn’t necessarily going early in fantasy drafts, coming in with an ADP (average draft position on MyFantasyLeague.com) of 77.26, which puts him at about the 10th round in standard 10-team leagues. That’s 34th among all wide receivers, right behind Cowboys WR Michael Gallup.

Reasons to draft Jerry Jeudy

  • Jeudy won’t have any trouble earning playing time, likely working as a starter alongside WR Courtland Sutton, so long as he beats out KJ Hamler and DaeSean Hamilton.
  • After QB Drew Lock took over as the starter, the Broncos offense found its rhythm. Sutton led all Broncos receivers with 22 catches and 280 yards on 40 targets in the five games Lock started, while Hamilton was second with 17 catches for 191 yards. Jeudy should see at least six passes come his way per game, and it’s reasonable for him to average more than 50 yards a week like Sutton did with Lock.
  • Jeudy was one of the top receivers in the NFL Draft this year but somehow slipped to the Broncos at No. 15. He should have a greater impact than Las Vegas Raiders WR Henry Ruggs, who was drafted ahead of Jeudy, and possibly Dallas Cowboy WR CeeDee Lamb, who’s going ahead of Jeudy in fantasy drafts.

Reasons not to draft Jerry Jeudy

  • Lock is still somewhat of a question mark at quarterback due to his inexperience after playing just five games last year. If he can’t play at the level he did to finish last season, the Broncos offense could struggle.
  • The Broncos aren’t a pass-heavy team and should run the ball a healthy amount with RBs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay. That could take targets away from Jeudy.
  • Jeudy is a rookie who didn’t have OTAs or minicamp to work through, limiting his practice time. He’s also had a few drops in practice, which was an issue last season at Alabama. It’s an easy way to lose snaps on offense.

For in-depth fantasy football statistics, sleepers, custom player rankings and the winning edge in your fantasy football league, subscribe TheHuddle.com. New customers, take $10 off your order with the code SBW20. Act fast, this offer expires 8/31/2020 at 11:59 pm ET. Subscribe now!

Where should I draft Jerry Jeudy in fantasy football drafts?

Jeudy is a prime candidate to outplay his draft position. He’s joining a team that has very little proven talent at wide receiver and could use a playmaker like him on the outside for its young quarterback.

Receivers going ahead of him in fantasy drafts include Sutton, Gallup, Marquise Brown and Lamb, but Jeudy could have better numbers than each of them if Lock airs the ball out enough. Jeudy is dynamic in the open field and frequently made big plays after the catch at Alabama, which should translate to the NFL.

I would feel comfortable taking him ahead of Gallup, who will be fighting for targets with WRs Amari Cooper and Lamb. I’d also take Jeudy before Brown due to the run-heavy nature of the Baltimore Ravens’ offense.

The ninth round is a good spot to target Jeudy because his ceiling is high, even as a rookie. He’s pro-ready and can win all over the field, giving Lock a dynamic target on the outside.

When to pick D’Andre Swift in your fantasy football draft

Analysis on the fantasy football draft value of picking D’Andre Swift, running back for the Detroit Lions. What’s his ADP? Is he worth the price?

Fantasy football season is in the air, and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on Detroit Lions RB D’Andre Swift and his fantasy football potential this year.

D’Andre Swift’s fantasy football ADP

Average Draft Position on MyFantasyLeague: 66.9 (12 teams, PPR redrafts)

Reasons to draft D’Andre Swift

  • Swift was highly productive at Georiga, rushing for 2,885 yards and 20 touchdowns on just 440 carries.
  • One of Swift’s best traits coming out of college was his ability to win as a receiver. Swift caught 73 passes for 666 yards and five touchdowns during his collegiate career.
  • Lions QB Matthew Stafford has traditionally been a quarterback that has targeted running backs in the passing game, and Swift is easily the best receiving back on the roster. Even if he doesn’t get a full workload on the ground, he could have a ton of value in PPR leagues.

For in-depth fantasy football statistics, sleepers, Macustom player rankings and the winning edge in your fantasy football league, subscribe to the TheHuddle.com. New customers, take $10 off your order with the code SBW20. Act fast, this offer expires 8/31/2020 at 11:59 pm ET. Subscribe now!

Reasons not to draft D’Andre Swift

  • Swift never saw a massive workload in college; the most touches he ever saw in a season was 220 during his final year at Georgia.
  • The rookie is expected to share carries with former second-round pick RB Kerryon Johnson.

When should I draft D’Andre Swift in fantasy football drafts?

Currently being drafted in the sixth-round of 12-team PPR leagues, Swift is one of the more intriguing middle-rounds running backs. After dominating in the SEC and averaging 6.9 yards per touch during his college career, Swift is entering a backfield that has struggled to produce for years.

Just to put it in perspective how much the running backs have struggled in Detroit, the last running back to rush for 1,000 yards with the Lions was Reggie Bush during the 2013 season. It’s just not a team that produces many fantasy-relevant running backs.

So what can we expect from a second-round rookie running back who is likely to be a part of a committee? As previously mentioned, he’s already the best passing-down back on the roster, and he probably will be on the field during critical third downs. He’s also the most explosive running back on the team, meaning that he can be fantasy-relevant on limited touches.

With Swift currently being drafted as RB29 in PPR leagues, he has a lot of upside. However, the sixth and seventh rounds are prime “WR” rounds this year; players like T.Y. Hilton, A.J. Green and Marquise Brown are all being selected after Swift.

Consider taking Swift in the seventh or eighth round, should he fall that far. Otherwise, let someone else deal with the week-to-week inconsistency that a Lions running back will have this season.

When to pick CeeDee Lamb in your fantasy football draft

Analyzing Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb’s 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air, and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb and his fantasy football potential this year.

CeeDee Lamb’s fantasy football ADP

Average Draft Position on MyFantasyLeague: 96.91 (12 teams, PPR redrafts)

Reasons to draft CeeDee Lamb

  • Lamb was arguably the best receiver in the 2020 NFL Draft, producing big numbers in all three seasons at Oklahoma with three different quarterbacks. He caught 173 passes for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns for the Sooners.
  • Lamb will be replacing veteran slot receiver Randall Cobb, who caught 55 passes for 828 yards and three touchdowns last season. At this stage of their careers, Lamb is the more explosive player and should see even more looks in the red zone than Cobb did last season.
  • The Cowboys had the second-most passing yards in the NFL in 2019 and hired pass-happy head coach Mike McCarthy this offseason. Dallas should exceed 600 passing attempts this season with QB Dak Prescott, giving plenty of work for Lamb in the slot.

For in-depth fantasy football statistics, sleepers, custom player rankings and the winning edge in your fantasy football league, subscribe to the TheHuddle.com. New customers, take $10 off your order with the code SBW20. Act fast, this offer expires 8/31/2020 at 11:59 pm ET. Subscribe now!

Reasons not to draft CeeDee Lamb

  • Lamb might not have as much upside (this season) as other rookie receivers considering he is playing along with studs in WR Amari Cooper and WR Michael Gallup.
  • The Cowboys have plenty of other targets in the passing game, including TE Blake Jarwin and RB Tony Pollard. Lamb’s production might come in bunches and could be a difficult start-sit option each week.

When should I draft CeeDee Lamb in fantasy football drafts?

Heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, Lamb was widely viewed as the best or second-best receiver in the class. He was viewed as a potential top-10 pick but fell to No. 17 and into the laps of the Cowboys.

While the Cowboys are only a few weeks into training camp, he’s already emerged as a star in Dallas, becoming one of Prescott’s favorite receivers. But where should you feel comfortable taking the former Oklahoma star in your fantasy drafts?

Lamb is currently being drafted as WR36 in fantasy drafts, which feels a bit high for a rookie receiver. Unlike other rookies such as WR Henry Ruggs III and WR Jalen Reagor (both of whom are being selected after Lamb), it’s just not likely that Lamb will see similar as much work in the passing game.

There is a good chance that Lamb could outproduce his ADP this season, especially if he can score close to double-digit touchdowns. However, he is going to be a nightmare in traditional leagues as his production will likely be inconsistent. Pass on Lamb at his current ADP, as there are several players being selected behind him with more upside.

When to pick Philip Rivers in your fantasy draft

Assessing Indianapolis Colts QB Philip Rivers’ 2020 ADP and fantasy football draft value. Is he a sleeper or bust? Undervalued or overvalued?

Fantasy football season is in the air and the unique offseason is causing more questions than answers as we enter our fantasy football drafts. Today we focus on Indianapolis Colts QB Philip Rivers and his fantasy football potential this year.

Philip Rivers’ fantasy football ADP

Rivers is currently ranked No. 225, with an average draft position of 135.04 on MyFantasyLeague.com. He ranks 30th among quarterbacks.

Reasons to draft Philip Rivers

  • While not a top-tier fantasy QB, he had been one of the most consistent performers, averaging between 16-18 fantasy points per game from 2013-2018.
  • You can count on him to pile up passing yards. He was fourth with more than 4,600 yards in 2019 and has had at least 4,200 in each of the last seven seasons and 10 of the last 11.
  • You don’t have to worry about his durability. He has not missed a game since taking over the starting job with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2006.
  • Now on the Colts, he returns to an offensive system in which he thrived.

Reasons not to draft Philip Rivers

  • His fantasy production dropped to 14.7 points per game last season, a drop of more than three points per game over 2018.
  • He became more prone to turnovers last season, throwing 20 interceptions after 22 the previous two seasons combined. He averaged 2.2 interceptable passes per game.
  • He does not give you any extra value in running the ball.

Where should I draft Philip Rivers?

Rivers has been extremely productive for years. However, he should not be a priority in anyone’s league. The one thing he is valuable for is being a productive backup if you end up losing your quarterback to injury. He shouldn’t be anyone’s QB1 at this point. Pick him up late to use on the bye week or to fill in for a starter who misses a game or two with an injury.

He will not be the reason you win but he can keep you from losing in a pinch.
