Value play: Bet Ravens’ Lamar Jackson to win NFL MVP

Analyzing the 2023 NFL MVP award odds, including an expert prediction and best bet.

The Baltimore Ravens were able to ink a long-term deal with QB Lamar Jackson this offseason, making him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Upon signing Jackson to a multi-year contract, the Ravens are understandably considered a Super Bowl contender in the AFC.

The Ravens are currently tied for the 8th-best odds to win the Super Bowl (+1800), the 5th-best odds to win the AFC (+1000) and the 2nd-best odds to secure the AFC North crown (+240) — The Cincinnati Bengals (+120) are the division favorites.

While wagering on the Ravens to have success as a team in 2023 is a solid bet, wagering on Jackson to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award (+1600) has fantastic value.

Below, we look at the 2023 NFL MVP odds at BetMGM Sportsbook – with the best suggestion among our expert NFL picks and predictions.

2023 NFL MVP best bet

QB Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens (+1600)

There are currently 8 quarterbacks with better odds than Jackson to win MVP — Dallas’ Prescott has the same +1600 odds as Jackson to take home the hardware after the season.

Baltimore’s dual-threat quarterback won his first NFL MVP in 2019 by throwing for 3,127 yards and an NFL season-best 36 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,206 yards and another 7 TDs.

After missing 4-plus games in each of the last 2 seasons, Jackson has a new offensive coordinator in Todd Monken in 2023. Under previous offensive coordinator Greg Roman, the Ravens became a predictable pistol-heavy offense that limited the passing ceiling of Jackson.

However, with Monken calling the shots, Jackson should make strides as a passer in the upcoming season. Monken was the offensive coordinator at Georgia from 2020-22, winning national championships the last 2 years. He has previous NFL experience with the Buccaneers, Browns and Jaguars.

Besides bringing in a new offensive coordinator that should push Jackson’s game even further, the Ravens also improved their wide receiver room this offseason. They signed veteran WR Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency and took Boston College WR Zay Flowers in the 1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft to pair with WR Rashod Bateman and TE Mark Andrews.

In Monken’s offensive scheme, Jackson could be asked to run a bit less to avoid any chance of him taking unnecessary hits. That being said, he could certainly set career-best marks across the board in the passing department, and it’s not like he won’t still produce solid rushing numbers.

The quarterback position is a popular choice for the NFL MVP award, and other premier signal-callers are receiving more buzz than Jackson. Given his dual-threat ability and the fact that he’s getting overlooked by many, Jackson is a great value to win the league’s prestigious award in 2023.

BET LAMAR JACKSON to win NFL MVP (+1600) in 2023.
