Bills at Titans game notes

  • The Bills and Titans both rank outside the top 20 in passing yards allowed per game. Tennessee is also 31st in rushing yards allowed per game (166.0).
  • Tennessee is allowing the second-most yards per play on defense.
  • The Bills are 4-6 in their last 10 meetings with the Titans, but the series is split 5-5 ATS.
  • The total is 3-0-1 in the Bills’ four games this season. The Titans are 2-1 against the Over/Under.
  • The Titans have yet to cover the spread this season, going 0-3. Buffalo is 3-1 ATS.

Bills at Titans key injuries

Bills

  • LB Matt Milano (pec) out
  • WR John Brown (knee) questionable
  • OT Cody Ford (groin) questionable
  • RB Zack Moss (toe) questionable
  • CB Tre’Davious White (back) questionable

Titans

  • OT Taylor Lewan (shoulder) questionable
  • WR A.J. Brown (knee) questionable

Bills at Titans: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Bills 27, Titans 23

Money line (?)

This is bound to be a close game, but I like the BILLS (-182) to win outright. QB Josh Allen has been a stud all year, the defense has yet to hit its stride and Moss should be back to complement RB Devin Singletary in the backfield.

Tennessee’s defense will give up too many big plays to Buffalo and has been susceptible to opposing passing attacks all year. The Bills will win a close one.

Against the spread (?)

The Titans failed to cover the spread in their first three games of the year, which is important to note. Yes, they’re undefeated in the standings, but Tennessee hasn’t been all that impressive against three lesser opponents.

The Titans won their three games by a total of six points. It’s hard to take the favorites in a game where their opponent plays such tight contests, but I’m taking the BILLS -3.5 (-106) to cover the 3.5-point margin and win by at least 4 points.

Over/Under (?)

At 53.5 points, the Over/Under feels high. Although the total has gone Over in five of their seven combined games this season, this is a matchup where it will come in just Under the 53.5-point total.

As explosive as the Buffalo offense is, Tennessee is going to shorten the game with its rushing attack and take possessions away from Buffalo. I like the UNDER 53.5 (-110) in this one.

Chargers at Saints game notes

  • The Chargers are back east of the Mississippi River for the second straight weekend against an NFC South team. They fell 38-31 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4, covering a 7.5-point number by the hook. They might be 1-3 straight-up (SU), but they’re 3-1 ATS.
  • The Chargers offense had been struggling, averaging 17.3 PPG until last week’s breakout performance. Of course, the defense also allowed a season-high 38 points, so that didn’t help.
  • The Saints have been so-so overall, winning two and losing two. They have scored at least 30 points in three of their four games, and at least 24 in all four contests. However, the defense has also allowed at least 29 points in each of the past three games for an average of 33.3 PPG. It’s no wonder the Over is a perfect 4-0 in Saints games this year.
  • This is the highest spread of the season for New Orleans. In each of its first four games it has closed as a 3- or 4-point favorite, going 2-2 ATS. In its most recent home game, it lost outright as a 3-point favorite to Green Bay 37-30 on Sept. 27.
  • BetMGM opened the total at 52, but it has since dropped 2.5 points. That’s odd considering the fact New Orleans hasn’t had an Under connect this season. Of course, the Under is 4-1 in five Monday night games in 2020.

Chargers at Saints key injuries

Chargers

  • DE Joey Bosa (triceps, knee) questionable
  • OT Bryan Bulaga (back) out
  • RB Austin Ekeler (hamstring) IR
  • QB Tyrod Taylor (ribs, chest) out
  • OG Trai Turner (groin) out
  • WR Mike Williams (hamstring) questionable

Saints

  • TE Jared Cook (groin) questionable
  • DE Marcus Davenport (toe) questionable
  • CB Justin Hardee (hamstring) out
  • WR Deonte Harris (hamstring) out
  • CB Janoris Jenkins (shoulder) out
  • CB Marshon Lattimore (hamstring) questionable
  • OT Andrus Peat (ankle) questionable
  • DT Sheldon Rankins (thumb) questionable
  • WR Michael Thomas (ankle) questionable

Chargers at Saints: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Saints 31, Chargers 24

Money line (?)

The Saints (-435) aren’t going down at home for a second consecutive game, but they’re also not worth risking more than four times your potential return. Over the long run, that’s just bad betting. AVOID.

Against the spread (?)

The CHARGERS +8 (-110) cashed last week by the narrowest of margins, and they’ll do so again in the Dome. They have the firepower to hang with the Saints in this Monday nighter, especially against a New Orleans D which has been very giving.

Over/Under (?)

The OVER 49.5 (-110) is the way to go, despite the MNF trends overall. New Orleans is defensively challenged, and if Lattimore joins Jenkins in street clothes, the Saints are going to have even more trouble on the back end. If Thomas is active, even better, as the offense will get a jolt. All signs point to this one being an entertaining track meet.

Eagles at Steelers: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Eagles 23, Steelers 16

Money line (?)

The bulk of my work here will be done in the “against the spread” section below but, spoiler alert, I’m on the dog mask Eagles (+270). This is a sports gambling theory I’ve overheard sharps discuss in the past: If you like a dog to cover you have to think they could win too.

I love Eagles to keep this game close and I’d sprinkle on their money line for some more value. Maybe just $25 on Eagles (+270) to pull a $67.50 profit if Philadelphia upsets Pittsburgh.

Against the spread (?)

The Steelers -7 (-110) were forced into an impromptu bye week after their Week 4 game with the Tennessee Titans was postponed due to a COVID outbreak among the Titans. Pittsburgh took care of business in its Week 3 game against the Houston Texans, 28-21, covering as a 3.5-point favorite.

The Eagles’ +7 (-110) defensive line mauled the San Francisco 49ers for five sacks in their 25-20 win this past Sunday. Philadelphia’s 17 sacks are tied for the league lead through four games (4.25 sacks per game).

If the Eagles can get pressure in Ben Roethlisberger’s face, Philadelphia will be in a position to win this game. Pittsburgh is allowing the eighth-highest pressure percentage from opponents so I think the Eagles will have success in this game. Since 2010, in games where Pittsburgh was sacked four or more times, the Steelers are 12-16-1 straight up and 9-19-1 ATS.

Also, Philadelphia’s defense knows it needs to carry this team. There are cluster-injuries to Carson Wentz’s pass catchers so the defense can’t count on being bailed out. We saw the Eagles defensive line answer the call in Week 4 and they’ll do it against vs. the Steelers in Week 5.

BET EAGLES +7 (-110). New to sports betting? A $110 bet on the Eagles +7 (-110) pays a $100 if Philadelphia wins or loses by six or fewer points.

Over/Under (?)

This is a sharp total (43.5) from BetMGM. Everyone betting the NFL has heard that Overs are cashing at a crazy rate so the number looks low.

But we are on the Eagles because of its defense, and the Steelers’ defense is even more stout. Wentz is still throwing to practice squad receivers, and Big Ben’s numbers are fine, but his competition is suspect. I envision more field goals than touchdowns in this one. TAKE UNDER 43.5 (-106).

NFL Parlay Payday: Top Week 5 parlay bet to make

Put these 5 NFL Week 5 bets into a parlay and we’ll get paid exponentially if all five bets hit.

Week 5 looks to be another wild week in the NFL with another Monday Night Football doubleheader due to rescheduling. To make your viewing experience even more enjoyable for Week 5, consider making a parlay bet. Parlay bets combine the outcome of multiple events to increase the potential payout to bettors.

Below, we will be creating a 5-bet NFL parlay for Week 5. This bet includes a few favorites and a few underdogs to increase the odds. Let’s take a look at our top Week 5 parlay.

Leg 1: Miami Dolphins (+330) at San Francisco 49ers

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 12:20 p.m. ET.

Any good parlay starts off with a surprising long-shot pick. This week, I like the Dolphins to upset the 49ers. Miami has one of the most improved defenses in the NFL and is extremely well-coached. With the Dolphins getting CB Byron Jones back into the lineup, they match up well with the 49ers’ young receivers.

Look for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to make enough plays to keep them in this game and pull off a massive upset Sunday afternoon.

Leg 2: Indianapolis Colts at Cleveland Browns (-106)

Arguably the most interesting game of the week features two unlikely 3-1 teams in the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns. With Cleveland being at home and Indianapolis suffering a few injuries to its linebacker corps, don’t be surprised if the Browns have a ton of success on the ground once again.

This looks like a game in which the Browns will need QB Baker Mayfield to create a few plays down the field, and he certainly has the weapons to do so. Look for this to be a back-and-forth contest with Cleveland ultimately covering the 1-point spread and winning outright at home.

Special NFL Week 5 betting promotion:

Bet $1 on any of Sunday’s Week 5 game money lines, if any team scores a touchdown Sunday you’ll WIN an additional $100 (in free bets)! It’s that easy. Place your legal, online NFL bets in CO, IN, NJ and WV at BetMGM, The King of Sportsbooks.

Terms and conditions apply. Bet now!

Leg 3: Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons -1.5 (-110)

The Falcons host the Panthers in Week 5 coming off a tough Week 4 road loss against the Green Bay Packers. Carolina has one of the worst defenses in the NFL and the Falcons should have no problem at all throwing on the Panthers.

While Falcons WR Julio Jones‘ status is up in the air, take the Falcons with confidence despite their 0-4 record. They are just a bad matchup for the young Panthers in Week 5.

Leg 4: Philadelphia Eagles (+270) at Pittsburgh Steelers

To increase the odds of this parlay some more, we need to pick another underdog. That’s why I am suggesting you consider betting on the Eagles to upset the Steelers in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are coming off an unplanned bye week and it wouldn’t be a shock if they came out a bit rusty in this contest. The Eagles have historically played well against the Steelers, winning 12 of their last 17 meetings. If they can protect QB Carson Wentz, don’t be surprised if he carves up this secondary. Expect this to be a close contest throughout as it will likely come down to the final possession.

Leg 5: Los Angeles Chargers at New Orleans Saints -8 (-110)

If this parlay makes it to Monday Night Football, it wouldn’t be the worst idea to consider hedging considering the potential payout, but for the final leg of our parlay, we’ll be taking the Saints with the points against the Chargers.

The Saints have been incredible against AFC opponents, losing just once in their last 12 games. With this game scheduled to be played in New Orleans on primetime, expect both sides of the ball to show up for the Saints. It could prove to be too big of a stage for rookie QB Justin Herbert and that’s why it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Saints won this game by double digits.

5-TEAM PARLAY | Bet $100 to earn a  profit $11,168.98

Bengals at Ravens game notes

  • Cincinnati is 0-13-1 over its last 14 road games.
  • In their three wins, the Ravens have outscored their opponents 102-39.
  • The Over has hit in two of Cincinnati’s four games and the Under hit in three of four for Baltimore.
  • The Ravens are 2-2 ATS; the Bengals are 3-1.

Bengals at Ravens key injuries

Bengals

  • DT Geno Atkins (shoulder) questionable
  • RB Joe Mixon (shin) questionable
  • OT Jonah Williams (shoulder) questionable

Ravens

  • QB Lamar Jackson (knee/illness) probable
  • CB Jimmy Smith (knee) questionable
  • OT Ronnie Stanley (shoulder/hip) questionable

Bengals at Ravens: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Baltimore 34, Cincinnati 20

Money line (?)

The Ravens (-770) are the clear-cut favorite to win this game and the Bengals are getting a huge number (+520). If you’re insistent on betting this one, a small bet on the Bengals is the only bet that makes sense with this line.

The best advice is to AVOID the money line and look to the spread.

Against the spread (?)

The Ravens are 12.5-point favorites for a good reason. When they win, they tend to win big. Giving away double-digit points is always difficult because a team can be ahead by 17 with five minutes to go, play prevent defense and surrender a meaningless score at the end to bring it back under the spread.

Baltimore has the horses on both sides of the ball to make a statement against a rookie QB and a defense that doesn’t stop the run consistently. Take the RAVENS -12.5 (-110) to win by at least 13 points.

Over/Under (?)

The Over/Under is a couple points higher than many like at 50.5 points. Typically, because of the familiarity of division rivals, you tend to see lower-scoring games, but the Bengals offense has started to click under rookie QB Joe Burrow, as he is developing young weapons in the passing game, and the Ravens have the most potent, big-play run game in the league.

It’s a high number, but take the OVER 50.5 (-115).

  • Money line: Raiders +455 (bet $100, win $450) | Chiefs -625 (bet $625, win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Raiders +11.5 (-110) | Chiefs -11.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 55.5 (O: -110, U: -110)

Raiders at Chiefs game notes

  • The Raiders have scored only six fewer points than the Chiefs this season.
  • Las Vegas has allowed an even 30 points per game so far this season, while the Chiefs score 29.3 points per game.
  • Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has 11 touchdown passes so far and has not been intercepted.
  • Raiders QB Derek Carr also has not been intercepted. He has eight touchdown passes.
  • Raiders RB Josh Jacobs leads the NFL with 83 rushing attempts.

Raiders at Chiefs key injuries

Raiders

  • WR Bryan Edwards (foot, ankle) questionable
  • WR Henry Ruggs (knee, hamstring) expected to play
  • TE Darren Waller (knee) questionable

Chiefs

  • DE Mike Danna (hamstring) questionable

Raiders at Chiefs: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Chiefs 37, Raiders 28

Money line (?)

This game is not worth betting the money line with the Chiefs overwhelming favorites at -625. AFC West games are always entertaining but Las Vegas’ defense is not good enough to slow Mahomes and Co. It is a sure thing, but you won’t make any money. That said, if you must, go Chiefs -625.

Against the spread (?)

The huge spread at 11.5 points is one to give you pause. The Chiefs have covered the spread in three of four games, but the Raiders are 2-2 ATS and 1-2 ATS as underdogs. Divisional games are frequently tight in the AFC West. I expect a Chiefs win, but the Raiders will keep it within double digits. take the RAIDERS +11.5 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

You would think that with the Chiefs offense, it would be a lock to take the Over. However, their games have gone Under in three of four. Raiders games have not gone Under yet this season. They have a good offense and a bad defense. Both teams should score a lot. This should be a shootout. Take the OVER 55.5 (-110).

Colts at Browns game notes

  • The Colts bumped off the previously unbeaten Chicago Bears last weekend at Soldier Field, winning 19-11. The final score was not quite as indicative of Indy’s domination, as it had allowed just three points until Chicago WR Allen Robinson hauled in a 16-yard touchdown with just 1:35 to go in regulation.
  • The Colts rank No. 1 in total yards (236.3), passing yards (159.3) and total points allowed (14.0) per game, and they’re fourth in the NFL in rushing yards per game (77.0) while posting a total of seven takeaway with a plus-4 turnover ratio.
  • Offensively, Indy ranks in the lower third of the league with 360.3 total yards per game, while posting a rather middling 25.8 PPG to check in 17th.
  • The Browns racked up a season-high 49 points in a win at the Dallas Cowboys last week, and they have scored 30 or more points in three straight games for the first time since 1968. Cleveland’s offense ranks fourth in the NFL with 31.0 PPG, and it’s first with a whopping 204.5 rushing yards per game.
  • Cleveland’s defense numbers are a bit poor, as it has yielded 310.5 passing yards per game, ranking 30th, and it’s 27th in the NFL with 31.5 points per game allowed. However, it is fifth against the run, yielding just 91.8 yards per game on the ground.

Colts at Browns: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Colts 23, Browns 20

Money line (?)

Betting the COLTS (-112) money line isn’t much different than betting on the spread, but a one-point win by Indy is a push laying the point. In this instance, I’d rather minimize any risk and just play the money line, as the difference in juice is rather negligible.

Against the spread (?)

The COLTS -1 (-110) are the play if you aren’t comfortable playing the money line. This has fluctuated between -1 and -1.5 this week, and Joe Public is all over the home side as short dogs. Indy’s defense is nasty, and the Browns +1 (-110) will get a dose of reality against a team that can actually stop them.

I also don’t like how banged up Cleveland is at the skill positions. Missing Chubb for an extended period will really change the complexion of this offense.

Over/Under (?)

The UNDER 47.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit wager. Scoring is way, way up in the NFL this season, but not in games involving the blue horseshoe. And yes, Indy’s D will get its biggest test, as the Bears and New York Jets aren’t exactly lighting the world afire. The Colts did limit the Minnesota Vikings to just 11 points in Week 2. This should come in slightly Under as the Browns take a giant step back after their huge showing in Week 4.

Vikings at Seahawks: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction

Prediction

Seattle 35, Minnesota 20

Money line (?)

With Seattle mired at an untenable -334, you don’t want to bet that much chalk. For those looking for a long-shot chance, a small bet on Minnesota (+270) would be a possibility. The best advice is to AVOID this one.

Against the spread (?)

SEATTLE -7 (-110) is perfect ATS so far. Wilson has never lost to the Vikings. He put up 37 points on them last year. Take SEATTLE -7.

Over/Under (?)

This is a scary big number at 56.5. There has to be a ton of points scored to hit that number. By our own prediction of 35-20, it would require another field goal on top of that to hit the Over. Minnesota is a running team and the Seahawks can play that game. There could be eight touchdowns scored and still not hit the Over. Take the UNDER 56.5 (-110).
