Jags 53-man roster projection after preseason finale

The Jags have to trim their roster down to 53 players by 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday and some hard decisions have to be made. Here is how we see things going as the Jags’ staff make their evaluations.

With the Jacksonville Jaguars having their third and final preseason game Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, fans have turned their attention to the regular season as the team will take on the Houston Texans on Sept. 12. Before that happens, though, Jags coach Urban Meyer and his staff must take on the difficult task of filing down their roster to 53 players before Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST.

They’ve been evaluating the team for months now, and both training camp and the preseason has given them ample opportunities to make their most important assessments. It’s also given us here at Jags Wire the opportunity to do the same, and now the time has come for our last roster predictions for the 2021 season.

Here is how we see things going as the Jags figure out who they will carry into the regular season.

Jags 53-man roster projection after first preseason game

With the Jags putting their first preseason game behind them this Saturday, here are our latest projections for the final 53-man roster.

The Jacksonville Jaguars now have Week 1 of the preseason behind them after falling to the Cleveland Browns Saturday. They followed that up by trimming their roster down to 85 players Tuesday (a league requirement) and now have their eyes set on their second preseason opponents in the New Orleans Saints.

Thanks to the cuts made on Tuesday, we now have a slightly better look at what the Jags’ initial 2021 53-man roster could look like once the preseason ends, and below are my predictions based on what has transpired in training camp and Saturday’s game.
