The Jets entered the 2021 season with the hopes of taking the next step in their rebuild. But contending for a playoff spot seemed to be out of the question given the deficiencies on the roster. That thought has been proven to be true through New York’s first five games.
Robert Saleh’s team is 1-4 coming out of its bye week and nowhere close to challenging for a spot among the best teams in the AFC. The Jets have scored just 13 points in the first half so far this season and have yet to put together a complete performance — even in their win over the Titans. Factor in New York’s overall youth and Zach Wilson adjusting to the NFL, and fighting to make the playoffs in 2021 was always going to be a pipe dream.
Now, after just five games, the Jets have a minuscule 2% chance of making the playoffs, according to FiveThirtyEight.
There are other teams currently in a similar position when it comes to their postseason hopes. Three teams have a worse chance of making the playoffs than Gang Green, while another has an equally poor shot.
Who are the four? Let’s take a look.
