The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (12-5) visit the New Orleans Saints (13-4) Sunday in an NFC Divisional Round battle at 6:40 p.m. ET. Below, we take a look at the early Buccaneers-Saints betting odds and lines at BetMGM Sportsbook.
The last game of the second playoff weekend offers a dream matchup of two of the best NFL quarterbacks to ever play. Forty-three-year-old Tom Brady and soon-to-be 42-year-old Drew Brees face off as the two NFC South rivals meet for a third time this season. The division champion Saints swept the season series, winning 34-23 as 4-point home favorites in Week 1 and a surprising 38-3 rout as 3-point road underdogs in Week 9.
Saturday, Brady led the Buccaneers to their first playoff victory since 2002, throwing for 381 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 31-23 Wild Card win at the Washington Football Team. The Bucs, who failed to cover as 10-point favorites, led 18-7 at the half, and fended off a Washington rally which cut the margin to 18-16 after three quarters. PK Ryan Succop’s third of four field goals and a 3-yard TD run by RB Leonard Fournette (93 rushing yards, 19 carries) increased the Bucs advantage to 28-16 with 9:11 to go, a lead WFT couldn’t overcome. Tampa Bay wideouts Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin each caught a Brady TD pass in the first half, while WR Mike Evans led the Bucs with 119 receiving yards on 6 catches.
The Saints’ Wild Card win came against the visiting Chicago Bears 21-9 Sunday. Brees (28 of 39 pass attempts) threw for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns, RB Alvin Kamara rushed for 99 yards with a 3-yard, fourth-quarter TD, and the defense held the Bears out of the end zone until the final play. Because the TD occurred as time expired, the Bears weren’t required to attempt an extra point, allowing the Saints to cover the spread as 11-point favorites and sending shockwaves through Las Vegas sportsbooks. The Saints defense held the Bears to 239 total yards, including just 48 rushing yards. WR Michael Thomas and RB Latavius Murray each caught a TD pass.
