The New Orleans Pelicans (2-1) and Golden State Warriors (2-1) meet Tuesday at Chase Center with tip-off set for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Pelicans vs. Warriors odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Pelicans won 2 of 3 last season

After a 2-0 start, the Pelicans suffered their first setback on Sunday, losing 125-103 to the Portland Trail Blazers as 4-point road underdogs. They were outrebounded 51-39 and their offensive struggles were evident, with G CJ McCollum as the only player scoring more than 15 points, finishing with 27.

The Warriors dropped their home opener on Sunday, falling 112-104 to the LA Clippers as 9-point favorites while the Under (221) hit. Golden State struggled inside, getting outscored 58-38 in the paint. F Andrew Wiggins led all scorers with 29 points.

Pelicans at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 114, Warriors 108

Moneyline

PASS.

Although they’re on the road in California, I’m backing the Pelicans (-140) to win this game. However, I’d prefer the value on the spread over the moneyline for better odds.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS -2.5 (-110).

The Pelicans have momentum in their favor, winning their last 2 matchups against the Warriors by a combined 41 points. A key factor in this game is the absence of Curry, whose leadership and offensive firepower are difficult to replace. Without him, Golden State lacks the scoring depth they rely on.

Last season, the Warriors struggled as underdogs, winning only 32.1% (9 of 28) of those games. Meanwhile, the Pelicans went 30-19 as the moneyline favorite.

With G CJ McCollum and F Brandon Ingram both averaging over 20 points per game and F Zion Williamson yet to reach his full potential, New Orleans has a strong offensive core to take advantage of the Curry-less Warriors. While it might be competitive, the Pelicans should have enough to secure the win and cover the spread.

Over/Under

BET OVER 217.5 (-110).

This game’s total is set at a reasonable mark, especially considering recent trends. The Over is 2-0-1 in the last 3 games between these teams. Golden State averaged 117.8 points per game last season and has upped that to 133.5 in their first 3 games this season with a sharp 40.8% shooting from beyond the arc. The Pelicans also topped 110 points in 58 games last season, suggesting a high-scoring affair is likely here.

New Orleans Pelicans at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (2-0) and Portland Trail Blazers (0-2) meet Sunday at Moda Center with tip-off set for 6 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Pelicans vs. Trail Blazers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Pelicans lead 1-0

F Brandon Ingram nailed a jumper with 4.9 seconds remaining to lift the Pelicans to a 105-103 win over the Trail Blazers on Friday night. New Orleans did not cover the 6.5-point spread as road favorites, and the game stayed Under the 219 total. G Jordan Hawkins led the Pelicans with 24 points off the bench, while F Zion Williamson made a strong all-around contribution, recording 16 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks.

The Trail Blazers dropped to 0-2 on the season, despite a strong effort from F Jerami Grant, who scored a game-high 34 points, hitting 8-of-17 from beyond the arc. C Deandre Ayton recorded his second straight double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds. However, 19 turnovers were the downfall for Portland in the loss.

Pelicans at Trail Blazers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pelicans 108, Trail Blazers 100

Moneyline

PASS.

I have the Pelicans (-250) sweeping this home-and-home with the Trail Blazers, but I’m not going to risk 2 1/2 units to win 1. I’d rather take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET PELICANS -6.5 (-110).

The Trail Blazers have struggled offensively through their first 2 games, and their situation is further complicated by the absence of key rotation players like Sharpe and Thybulle. With the Pelicans being the more talented team, the gap between the 2 teams should widen when they face off again. New Orleans has dominated this series, winning 9 of the last 10 games against Portland.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 219.5 (-115).

Recent matchups between the Pelicans and Trail Blazers have leaned toward lower scoring, with the Under hitting in 4 of their last 5 meetings, including Friday’s game. The trend continues at Portland, where the Under has cashed in their last 7 home games against the Pelicans. Plus, 8 of the Pelicans’ last 9 games as favorites against teams on the first leg of a back-to-back have also gone Under.
