NETS -5.5 (-110) is an enticing wager with how well Brooklyn has been playing recently. The status of Hawks G Trae Young is also uncertain after he exited Tuesday’s game against the Pacers with an injury.

Atlanta is 5-1 SU and ATS in the last 6 games, which includes a 4-game winning streak with the latest being a 131-107 blowout of the Cavaliers Thursday.

The Nets are 2-0 SU and ATS versus the Hawks this season, and the total is 1-1 Over/Under (O/U).

Brooklyn All-Star Kevin Durant is averaging 31.5 points on 59.5% shooting with 8.0 assists versus Atlanta this season. While Hawks All-Star Trae Young is averaging 26.0 points and 10.0 assists against the Nets.

Money line

GIMME the NETS (-145) because they should be angry after squandering a double-digit lead to the Bucks earlier this week, and the Hawks (+120) are far worse in close games.

For instance, Brooklyn is eighth in “clutch” net rating at plus-7.6, and Atlanta is 24th at minus-7.0. “Clutch” is defined by games within a 5-point margin inside of five minutes to play. The House is projecting a one-possession game so I’ll take KD and Kyrie Irving against the Hawks in winning time.

Furthermore, both teams should be at peak motivation since they have the same record as the Charlotte Hornets, and there’s a cluster of the three teams for the 8-to-10 seeds. Getting the 8-seed for the play-in tourney guarantees a team at least two games to clinch a playoff berth.

Also, the Nets are a lot better than the Hawks on paper. KD should continue to light up Atlanta Saturday, give me Kyrie over Trae, and I have more faith in Brooklyn’s supporting cast down the final stretch of the season.

Lastly, Atlanta’s victories over the past two weeks haven’t been that impressive. Hawks’ recent victories include against a Cavs team in the second of a back-to-back, the tanking Thunder and Pacers, a slumping Warriors and a Knicks team they match up well with recently.

BET the NETS (-145) as this is my cutoff before laying the points with Brooklyn instead.

Against the spread

PASS since Brooklyn’s ML is only 30 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Nets -2.5 (-115) so there’s no point sweating a cover. However, if Brooklyn’s ML goes higher than -145 then I’d bet the Nets ATS up to -3.5.

Over/Under

PASS with a “lean” to the Over 240.5 (-115) because Atlanta is 4-0 O/U in the last 4 games, and both teams have top-10 offensive ratings and bottom-10 defensive ratings.

But, this is a sharp total, and Brooklyn is 1-3 O/U in the last 4 games so I’ll PASS on even making a small wager on the Over.

A Kevin Durant-less Nets squad lost to the Houston Rockets 114-104 as 3.5-point road favorites Wednesday. Brooklyn is 3-3 straight-up (SU), 1-5 ATS and 1-5 O/U with the 17th-best non-garbage time efficiency differential over the past two weeks, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Atlanta roasted the Timberwolves 121-110 in Minnesota its last time out but are also 3-3 SU in the last two weeks. The Hawks are 3-3 ATS and 4-2 O/U with the eighth-best non-garbage time efficiency differential.

The Nets handled the Hawks 117-108 as 4.5-point home favorites on a 221.5-point total in their first meeting of the season, Nov. 3. KD scored a game-high 32 points, but Atlanta won three of the “four factors.”

GIMME the HAWKS (-140) because this is a get-right spot to snap a current three-game home losing streak and since the Nets (+115) have struggled vs. top-tier offenses thus far.

For instance, despite losing its last three home games, Atlanta is 8-4 at home with a plus-8.2 efficiency differential, which ranks fourth in the NBA. Also. the Hawks have the second-best non-garbage time offensive efficiency in the league.

On the other hand, Brooklyn is just 2-6 overall vs. teams with a top-10 offensive rating with a minus-8.3 efficiency differential (ranked 22nd) and a minus-12.6 ATS margin (ranked dead-last).

Lastly, Atlanta’s pick-and-roll (PnR) action should be effective vs. Brooklyn. According to ShotQuality.com, the Hawks generate the most shots off of PnR plays while the Nets are 22nd in shot quality allowed vs. PnR action.

TAKE THE HAWKS (-140).

Against the spread

PASS since Atlanta’s money line is 28 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Hawks -2.5 (-112) and we don’t have to sweat Atlanta winning by a margin over a Brooklyn team that’s expected to compete for the NBA Finals.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 228.5 (-108) for a tiny wager if at all because I much prefer Atlanta’s money line more than any other bet in this game. That said, there’s a ton of firepower on both sides and three of the past four Nets-Hawks meetings have gone Over the total.

However, we are getting the worst of the number as this total opened at 224 (according to Pregame.com) and has been steamed up to the current price by all the pro-Over wagers.

I hate following the herd in sports betting, so I may not touch the total come game time. But, if I were to bet it, either way, it would be the OVER 228.5 (-108).

The Atlanta Hawks (9-8) host the Brooklyn Nets (11-8) Wednesday at State Farm Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Nets-Hawks NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks for the Nets, who acquired G James Harden in a blockbuster trade while simultaneously dealing with the absence of PG Kyrie Irving. It hasn’t been profitable betting on the three-headed monster in Brooklyn as the Nets are just 2-4 against the spread since Harden joined the team.

Atlanta has beaten up on bad teams but is 4-1 straight up and ATS in its last five games, including a 108-99 win as a 6-point home favorite over the Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday.

The Hawks lost to the other three above-.500 opponents they’ve played in the past two weeks in the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks.

These teams split their earlier meetings this season, but the Hawks covered the spread in both games. Brooklyn won the first meeting in a 145-141 shootout, then Atlanta hammered the Nets 114-96.

Since the beginning of last season, Atlanta has been the worst bet when playing on no rest: The Hawks are an NBA-worst 3-11 ATS with a minus-10.6 ATS margin in the second half of back-to-backs.

This is major because while Atlanta has a relatively clean injury report at the moment, they’ve battled injuries all season with key contributors at less than full health.

Also, Brooklyn has to be motivated by getting crushed in its last game against Atlanta. Now that The Beard has joined forces with Irving and SF Kevin Durant, this game will go differently.

GIMME NETS -6.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Brooklyn’s 98-85 victory over the Miami Heat in its last game broke a 12-game Over streak. The Nets have the second-highest Over percentage in the league whereas the Hawks have the highest Under percentage.

Atlanta is going to be pumped for this rubber match so I’m disregarding any of that “tired legs from playing the night prior” talk. The Hawks will at least try to D up the Nets.

Despite liking the Nets side, I lean UNDER 238.5 (-110) for a half-unit because this is too high of a projected total for how reliant Brooklyn is on three guys.
