The Brooklyn Nets (4-4) take on the defending-champion Boston Celtics (7-2) Friday at TD Garden. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Nets vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: First meeting; Celtics swept 4-0 last season
The Nets got back on track with a 106-104 win as 4-point home underdogs against the Memphis Grizzles Monday. F Cam Johnson and G Dennis Schroder led the 6 Nets that were in double figures with 20 points apiece. F Dorian Finney-Smith went a cool 5-for-8 from downtown. The Nets have won 3 of 4.
The Celtics were upset as 7-point home favorites 118-112 by the Golden State Warriors Wednesday to snap a 3-game winning streak. G Jaylen Brown (hip) missed that one and is out Friday as well. F Jayson Tatum led the way with a game-high 32 points, and G Derrick White pitched in 26 points, helped by 7 3-pointers.

Nets at Celtics picks and predictions
Prediction
Celtics 109, Nets 99
Moneyline
The Celtics (-900) have won 9 of 10 against the Nets, and even with Brown out, I don’t see enough for the Nets (+575) to pull off the upset. The Celtics have a great defense that will limit the Nets’ outside shooting.
There’s NO PLAY on the ML, but I like AL HORFORD OVER 1.5 3-POINTERS (-150). He has 2+ 3-pointers in 5 of 8 games this season, and his secondary scoring will be a key without Brown.
Against the spread
The Nets struggled in Boston last season, but they pushed on spreads of 8 and 10 at home. Well, this one is 12.5 without one of Boston’s best players. The Nets have played well, and they’ve covered in 6 of 8 games thus far.
I’ll gladly take the points with NETS +12.5 (-110).
Over/Under
The Celtics are 1-2-1 O/U in their last 4, and the Nets are 1-3. The two meetings in Boston both went Under last season.
I like UNDER 221.5 (-115) here. The Nets rely on outside shooting, which the Celtics will prioritize taking away, and again, Boston is without one of its best players.
