A wakeboarding Tim Duncan continued to showcase immaculate vibes in his retired life

Tim Duncan listened to “Country Grammar” by Nelly while catching a wave.

Tim Duncan had one of the best NBA careers in league history and now that he is retired, he gets to spend his time doing whatever he wants.

That recently included some time on the water working out with Patrick Ngongba. Duncan is said to have enjoyed a “great week of workouts” with the basketball prospect, who is a big man at Paul VI High School in Virginia and competes at the AAU level for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL circuit.

During this video posted by Ngongba, the longtime Spurs big man is riding a wave while Nelly’s “Country Grammar” played in the background.

Duncan, who is from the U.S. Virgin Islands, seems pretty focused and laid back while on the water.

Perhaps that is because the five-time NBA champion was an aspirational Olympic swimmer before he started hooping (via NBA.com):

“Hurricane Hugo swept through Duncan’s hometown of St. Croix, Virgin Islands in 1989, erasing his dreams of becoming an Olympic swimmer because it destroyed all the local pools, eventually pushing him to the basketball courts. Having learned to swim at an early age like most kids in the Virgin Islands, Duncan loved to swim competitively, and by 13, he had clocked some of the fastest times in the United States in the 400-meter freestyle.

That all stopped when Hugo, a Category 4 storm, hit St. Croix as one of the most devastating hurricanes ever.

Like many other local swimmers, Duncan tried switching his training site to the ocean, but a fear of sharks pushed him out of the water.

Duncan wouldn’t pick up a basketball until age 14.”

Good for Duncan for overcoming his fear of sharks to enjoy some time on the water while listening to Nelly.

Ravens announce Breland to perform at halftime for Week 17 vs Steelers

The Ravens announced that musician Breland will be performing at halftime during the Week 17 matchup vs Steelers

The Baltimore Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 in their final home game of the 2022 season. If the Ravens want to win the AFC North Division title, they need to beat the Steelers this week and then the Cincinnati Bengals on the road in Week 18.

The Ravens announced that Breland will be performing at halftime of their Week 17 matchup with the Steelers. This isn’t the first time the Ravens have had a performer during halftime this season as in Week 5 on Sunday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals, Nelly performed.

When Nelly performed at halftime in Week 5, Hall of Famer Ray Lewis came out and did his signature squirrel dance. Breland should put on a good performance for the fans at M&T Bank Stadium, one that the fans will surely be happy with.

Ravens announce big-time halftime performer for Week 5 matchup vs. Bengals

The Ravens announced a big-time halftime performer for their Week 5 matchup with the Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens are preparing for a massive “Sunday Night Football” against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5 of the 2022 season. Baltimore suffered two blowout losses to Cincinnati in 2021, so they’ll be looking to get their revenge in the first matchup between the two this year.

On Tuesday, Baltimore announced that Nelly will be performing at halftime during the game against the Bengals. The rapper/singer is known for his song “Hot in Herre”, which former Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis ran out of the tunnel to during his time in the NFL.

The Ravens need to come out and play well on both sides of the ball after blowing another double-digit lead at home this season.  Getting the tiebreaker over the Bengals would be huge no matter how early the season is right now after getting swept last season.  It would send a big message to them that they Ravens are way better this season.

In between jokes and Nelly halftime shows, Boston’s Jayson Tatum balances relishing the moment and preparing for the next

Winning an NBA title is serious business, but not so serious one can’t have some fun on the way to the top.

The NBA Finals are a different beast than not only a regular-season contest for the Boston Celtics but even a playoff series at a lower level of the postseason. Media attention, bi-coastal travel, celebrity appearances, and a media crush unlike almost anything else in sports.

Asked if the experience of his first Finals game at home felt different with Celtics luminaries like Paul Pierce in attendance, Boston All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum joked a bit with the press. “Paul Pierce? We had Nelly — we had Nelly in the building,” he said to a peel of laughter rippling through the crowd of reporters. ” St. Louis was in the house.”

“It’s tough because there is so much media attention,” added Tatum. “The routines are different. We’re practicing at the Garden and things like that.”

“So in those moments, it’s like, this is a lot, this is the Finals, it’s big. But at the same time you want to keep that same focus of we’ve got a game on Friday, we’ve got to lock in,” suggested the St. Louis native.

“When you walk in the Garden and it’s already filled while you’re warming up, you definitely notice a different energy. But you can’t get too caught up in that; it’s still basketball, it’s still a game. We’re just trying to win one at a time.”

Asked how it felt to have Nelly performing at the halftime show wearing his jersey, Tatum smirked and pointed out that St. Louis was a small city, and that his parents knew him since high school.

“Nelly is arguably like the most famous guy from St. Louis,” he grinned, “until I catch up.”
