The Nebraska softball team has announced a portion of their 2025 non-conference schedule. The team enters the season after posting a 30-23 record for the 2024 campaign.

After seeing the same number depart the program, the Huskers have added ten new players to their roster this season. As of July 15, the roster features 24 players, with 13 returning players, six transfers, and four freshmen.

The team announced four of the five non-conference tournaments they will play early in the season.

  • Feb. 14-16: Troy Cox Classic – Las Cruces, NM
  • Feb. 20-23: Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic – Cathedral City, CA
  • Feb. 28-March 2: Wichita State Tournament – Wichita, KS
  • March 7-9: Big Red Spring Fling – Bowlin Stadium

The 2025 season will see the Big Ten welcome three new programs to the league: Oregon, Washington, and UCLA. USC is also joining the conference, but that school does not have a softball program.

Pitcher Kylee Magee officially joins Nebraska

Kylee Magee will join the Cornhuskers for the 2025 season. 

A former Arizona State pitcher has officially joined the Nebraska softball team. Kylee Magee will join the Cornhuskers for the 2025 season.

Last season, she made only four starts before her season was cut short due to injury. As a freshman, she was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team with four wins and a 3.17 ERA.

In two years in Tempe, she had a 3.51 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 89.2 innings. Head coach Rhonda Revelle praised the team’s recent addition.

“We have watched Kylee compete at the highest level since she was in 8th grade, and what we know is that every time she takes the mound, she pitches to win. Kylee is a gifted pitcher that adds a big piece to our talented pitching staff. We are so grateful that Kylee has chosen to be a Nebraska Cornhusker.”

Mcgee is one of six incoming transfers for the upcoming season. Of the six new Huskers for 2025, three played their high school softball in Nebraska.

The team will also see the return of Jordy Bahl, the former All-American and Women’s College World Series champion. Bahl transferred to Nebraska for 2024 but was forced to Redshirt after tearing her ACL in the season opener against Washington.

The Huskers are coming off a season that saw them finish 30-23 and miss out on an NCAA Tournament birth.

Nebraska softball adds former SEC All-Tournament player

The Nebraska softball team made another transfer portal addition earlier this week.

The Nebraska softball team made another transfer portal addition earlier this week. Left-handed hitter Kacie Hoffmann has transferred to Nebraska after spending the last three seasons with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

In 106 career games, she had 63 hits, 16 doubles, one triple, and 15 home runs while slugging .488. She sat out the 2024 season, recovering from surgery.

As a freshman, she helped the Razorbacks win the SEC Tournament title and earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

Head coach Rhonda Revelle expressed excitement at adding a left-handed power bat to next year’s lineup.

“Kacie is powerful. She is a true slugger from the left side. The ball flies off her bat, and she can impact the game immediately with her explosiveness. It is heartwarming to welcome this homegrown Husker to the Red Team.”

Hoffmann played her high school ball for Elkhorn South High School, where she set school career records for batting average, doubles, home runs, RBIs, and runs.

Andrews named Academic All-American

Billie Andrews received the honor from the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon. 

A Nebraska shortstop was named a second-team Academic All-American in softball. Billie Andrews received the honor from the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon.

Andrews is the first Husker softball player to receive such an honor since 2016. She is the first Nebraska player to be named an All-American and Academic All-American in the same season since Kim Ogee in 2002.

Andrews is the 23rd player in Cornhusker history to be named an Academic All-American. That brings Nebraska’s total number of Academic All-Americans to 31, which leads the Big Ten and ranks third nationally.

In 2024, Andrew hit .383 with 18 home runs and 45 RBIs. She also carried a 3.86 grade-point average while earning a degree in graphic design last month.

Huskers softball adds Arizona transfer

Olivia DiNardo is transferring to Nebraska after spending the last two seasons at Arizona. 

The Nebraska softball team made an addition via the transfer portal on Tuesday afternoon. Olivia DiNardo is transferring to Nebraska after spending the last two seasons at Arizona.

DiNardo was a decorated player during her time with the Wildcats. The catcher/utility player appeared in 106 games and started in 102 during her Arizona career.

As a freshman, she was named second-team All-Pac 12 and was third-team all-region as a sophomore. The California native hit .340 with 15 doubles, 20 home runs and 74 RBIs.

“Olivia DiNardo is an exceptional softball talent, and we are so excited that she is joining the Red Team,” Head Coach Rhonda Revelle said. “She is a fierce competitor who loves to compete and win. She has the ability to immediately step on the field for the Huskers and make a big impact on both sides of the ball.”

DiNardo will have two years of eligibility remaining.

A new report has confirmed that Nebraska softball will no longer look at playing a game at Memorial Stadium in 2025.

A new report has confirmed that Nebraska softball will no longer consider playing a game at Memorial Stadium in 2025. The initial news came from KETV’s Lauren Michelson, who broke the story on social media on Thursday afternoon.

“More on the ‘preliminary discussions’ to hold a softball game at Memorial Stadium in spring 2025. NU has since ‘ceased’ discussions.”

Discussions about a possible Memorial Stadium game took place after an increase in demand for softball tickets for the 2024 season. The university told KETV that there will be no softball game at Memorial Stadium in 2025.

“There are no plans to play a home softball game in Memorial Stadium during the 2025 season.”

Nebraska, of course, has had success with sports other than football at Memorial Stadium. In August 2023, the Huskers held Volleyball Day in Nebraska which saw 92,003 fans watch Nebraska face Nebraska-Omaha inside the stadium.

Husker All-American signs professional softball contract

Billie Andrews signed with Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball on Wednesday.

A two-time All-American shortstop has signed a professional softball contract. Billie Andrews signed with Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball on Wednesday.

Andrews was one of four rookies added to the 42-player roster for the upcoming season that begins on June 10. She joins the league after an accomplished career in Lincoln.

In 208 games, she hit .347 with 61 home runs and 157 RBIs. Andrews also held a .432 on-base percentage, a .679 slugging percentage, and 1.111 OPS for her Nebraska career.

The two-time All-American is Nebraska’s all-time home run leader. She is also second in extra-base hits, total bases, and slugging percentage.

The upcoming season will begin on June 10 at Wilkins Stadium in Wichita, Kansas.

Wisconsin’s Ava Kuszak will join the Huskers for the 2025 season. 

The Nebraska softball team made an addition via the transfer portal earlier this week. Wisconsin‘s Ava Kuszak will join the Huskers for the 2025 season.

This past season, Kuszak was a second-team All-Big Ten and third-team all-region selection. She hit .318 with 15 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, and 32 RBIs.

She started 65 games at shortstop in her Wisconsin career, with 31 starts at second base. Nebraska head coach Rhonda Revelle said she can’t wait for fans to see Kuszak play in the Husker uniform.

“We are thrilled to add Ava to the Red Team. Ava is a fiery competitor who is a powerful, fast and explosive player. Husker fans will absolutely love how she plays the game with so much energy and passion.”

Ava Kuszak will have two seasons of eligibility remaining following her transfer.

A Nebraska softball player has been named an All-American. Shortstop Billie Andrews was named a NFCA Third-Team All-American earlier this week.

Andrews is the 10th two-time All-American in Nebraska history. This past season, she hit .383 with ten doubles, two triples, 18 home runs, and 45 RBIs. She led Nebraska in batting average, hits, extra-base hits, home runs, RBIs, runs, slugging percentage, and on-base percentage.

The Gretna, Nebraska native was also a first-team All-American, a three-time all-region selection, and a four-time All-Big Ten member. Andrews was also Nebraska’s Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2024 after being named the Husker Female Athlete of the Year in 2022.
