Huskers make Top 12 for elite 2026 OL target

Nebraska made the cut for an offensive lineman earlier in the week.

According to multiple media reports, Nebraska made the top 12 for class of 2026 four-star offensive lineman Breck Kolojay last week.

Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma,  Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, Texas, LSU, and Miami were the other schools that made his top 12 list.

According to the Rivals.com rankings, Kolojay is the 13th overall player at the position and the 53rd overall player in the state of Florida. The Huskers officially offered him on November 1, 2023.

Nebraska only has two commitments in the 2026 class: quarterback Dayton Raiola and wide receiver Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte. However, the Huskers have done a solid job of stacking their depth on the offensive line and have been busy extending offers to recruits in the 2026 class.

At the very least, they are getting a jump on the future. The opportunity to play in a bowl game would also undoubtedly help recruiting efforts.

Huskers make top 12 for class of 2027 quarterback

Nebraska looks to be in good shape with 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor.

Nebraska football made the top 12 for 2027 four-star quarterback Trey Taylor. He made the announcement on X. The quarterback is a high-priority target for Nebraska.

According to the Rivals.com rankings, Taylor ranks 33rd nationally. Several big-name schools also want the quarterback. Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and LSU are some of the more prominent programs that have extended an offer to him.

He had a stellar season for Carmel High School in Illinois. According to MaxPreps statistics, he has thrown for 3,061 yards, 20 touchdowns, and seven interceptions and is averaging 278.3 yards per game.

Taylor has also been able to get it done on the ground. He has 41 carries for 342 yards and four touchdowns. He is efficient in his carries, averaging 8.3 yards per tote.

The quarterback is scheduled to visit Lincoln this weekend as the Huskers take on the Wisconsin Badgers. A win on Saturday would certainly help in recruiting and Taylor could have a role in the program’s future.

Matt Rhule on Carter Nelson ‘he’s a difference maker’

The eight-man football star had 28 catches for 525 yards and 11 touchdowns.

One of Nebraska’s top recruits in the class of 2024 will be switching positions. Head coach Matt Rhule has confirmed that Carter Nelson will switch from tight end to wide receiver.

When discussing the position switch, Matt Rhule said that Nelson is a difference-maker, and this change will allow him to get on the field quicker. Rhule also confirmed that Nelson will primarily play in the slot.

Carter Nelson, nobody even asked me about him but I can talk about him all day. We’re playing Carter as a receiver. Our thought process was instead of making him a tight end that could split out. We thought we could start him as a receiver who could come in a block.

Rhule believes that Nelson has the ability to be a positionless player at the next level.

He fits in that Janiran Boner, like a positionless player, but it’s easier to get on the field at receiver than it is to get on the field at tight end. Because he wasn’t here in the spring, we’re going to start him at receiver. I told him when I recruited him, I said, ‘Hey, we’re going to create a special position for you,’ and I’m proud that we did that. He’s a difference-maker.

The eight-man football star had 28 catches for 525 yards and 11 touchdowns. Nelson is the first eight-man player from Nebraska to receive an offer from the Cornhuskers since 2002.

Carter Nelson and the Nebraska Cornhuskers will kick off the 2024 season on Saturday, August 31, against UTEP. The start time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
