Huskers’ running back coach EJ Barthel spoke with the media following the team’s fourth day of fall camp. Barthel addressed a lot of questions in regard to the running back group, including the mindset he wants them in.

Barthel biggest emphasis he wants for his players is to go in with the mentality of a lion.

“We’re going to run the ball with a lion mindset,” Barthel said. “What that means is everything we do, we’re going to attack with a lion demeanor. You wake up a lion and you do lion things. A lion, if he’s going to hunt if he doesn’t kill, he doesn’t eat. That’s the reality of how we want to run the football. Everything we do needs to be with a physical intent.”

Nebraska offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield spoke to the media on the team’s fourth day of fall camp Thursday. Satterfield discussed a variety of topics surrounding the offense and the Huskers in general.

The team participated in its first full team practice Thursday as well, which Satterfield considered a great day for the players.

“Everybody was moving on the field at the same time,” Satterfield said. “I think coach [Rhule] has done a really good job of just grinding away of how we can do that. We don’t have 190 players, but he’s been very creative in making sure that everyone on the field is doing something. So, even though we’re together, everybody’s still getting a lot of reps.”

Nebraska defensive coordinator talks ‘Husker Speed’

Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White met with the media on Tuesday afternoon.

Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White met with the media on Tuesday afternoon. He started by talking about the process of getting his unit in ‘playing shape.’

“It’s exactly about the reps. You can even tell by the way I look I need to get my butt in shape. Coach has us running after the guys and making sure we know how to run to the ball, but it’s great you know. The only way you can develop is getting meaningful reps and whether it’s teaching individuals, whether it’s half line stuff, whether it’s full team or 7-on-7, a lot of guys are getting a lot of reps in a lot of places, so it’s really good.”
