Nebraska’s Depth Chart Against Michigan State: Offense

Nebraska’s offense has been decimated by injuries this season.

Nebraska’s offense has been decimated by injuries this season. The Huskers have lost three starters on the offensive line, multiple wide receivers, and their top two running backs.

Head coach Matt Rhule has cited special teams coach Ed Foley as helping the team overcome the injuries in more ways than one.

I think his ability all day long to talk to players one-on-one and to make sure guys understand what to do – even last week, the impact of the offensive line injuries, now Dylan Parrott goes out to be on the field goal team for the first time ever. It’s his first reps playing and to know that, ‘hey, I’m going to get live reps on Tuesday’ helped him. I think Ed does a phenomenal job of doing those different things and managing those players.

Nebraska’s Offensive Depth Chart for Illinois

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have released their offensive depth chart for this Friday’s game against Illinois.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have released their offensive depth chart for this Friday’s game against Illinois. Head football coach Matt Rhule made it clear that the Huskers know who they are and what they want to do on the football field.

“We have an offensive identity. We’re going to run the ball. In all seriousness, I would not confuse identity, knowing what you want to do and who you are, with always having success. We lined up and we tried to run the ball against those guys… we know exactly who we are. We’re going to run the ball, we’re going to run a little bit of option, we’re going to play action pass here and there, we’re going to try and convert third downs. I think we’re just trying to do it better.”

He also spoke about Anthony Grant’s performance since taking over as the starting running back.

“We’ve been going with Anthony (Grant). Anthony just has to protect the football. When he fumbled in that game early on and a lot of people said he’s in the doghouse. No one’s in the doghouse. It’s just, we can’t play the way we want to play and put the ball on the ground. It happened again in the red zone. We’re working with him all the time. I love the guy, I walked off the field with him, like ‘hey, you’ll be back, let’s go.’

And gave praise to some of the backups, including recently converted wide receiver Josh Fleeks.

(Josh) Fleeks, I think, just showed us a dynamic element. I thought Emmett (Johnson) played well. Kwinten (Ives), we’re trying to bring Kwinten along. There’s just a big difference. He’s so talented. There’s a big difference going from seeing cards to being out there, and they can be in one of seven different defenses. Kwinten’s coming, but I think Josh is the one guy who kind of jumped. He can play receiver, he can play tailback. Anthony will keep working on ball security, Fleeks will keep bringing it along, and I think Emmett is a guy who can do it all.”

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule met with the media on Thursday afternoon.

Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule met with the media on Thursday afternoon. He discussed the team’s updated depth chart and talked about how the coaching staff decides who to play.

“Oh, it’s simple. For me, it’s nothing else other than who I think has the best chance at every position. It’s nothing about you know, who’s established this, who’s done this. It’s about what we’ve done, what we need to do this week and who gives us the best chance to win.”

Nebraska now prepares to host Louisiana Tech at Memorial Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff. The game can be watched on the Big Ten Network.

Nebraska updates offensive depth chart following injuries

Nebraska updates offensive depth chart following injuries

The Univeristy of Nebraska football team has updated their depth chart heading into their fourth game of the season. With the recent injuries to Rahmir Johnson and Gabe Ervin, questions now persists as to the current state of the offensive roster.

Head coach Matt Rhule says that this team is built for this type of adversity.

“It is next man up. If you go to summer workouts and summer seven-on-sevens, they’re throwing the ball to those guys. It’s a whole different set of guys, so we’re asking guys to do a lot. The first play the other day, Billy (Kemp IV) catches the punt and comes back off the field and forgets to go back on. We are asking a lot of guys to do double time.”

Rhule also said that he believes  once this team gets confortable with the roster changes, the Huskers may finally take advatage of some of their strengths.

“Once you settle into things, if it’s later in the year or next year or whenever, you have an offense with guys that take advantage of their strengths. So you see (Thomas) Fidone III catching more balls and you see guys catching more balls. Thomas is a way different player now than he was three or four weeks ago. His legs are underneath him, hitting records on the GPS. The whole process, Corey Campbell to the training room, it’s all working for a lot of these guys.”

Nebraska releases offensive depth chart

As Nebraska moves closer to the start of the 2023 season, the Cornhuskers have finally released the first look at their team depth chart.

As Nebraska moves closer to the start of the 2023 season, the Cornhuskers have finally released the first look at their team depth chart. At first glance, the biggest surprise continues to be the running back position.

Gabe Ervin Jr. is listed as RB1, with junior Rahmir Johnson listed in the second position. Last season’s leading rusher, Anthony Grant, is listed in the third spot.

Head coach Matt Rhule has cited turnovers for Grant’s spot on the depth chart.

“When the ball is in his hands, Anthony is elite running the football. Anthony has put the ball on the ground too much. No matter how talented you are, if you fumble the football, you can’t play for us. We’re going to continue to work with AG. He’s had a good camp up until the last couple of days when he’s sort of turned the ball over.

Nebraska is looking for its first 1,000-yard season since Devin Ozigbo did it back in 2018. You can find the entire first string offense listed below.
