Danny Green says the Grizzlies are absolutely obsessed with rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again

“From morning, to night, from shootaround to the game, it’s NBA YoungBoy.”

NBA veteran Danny Green has played in many different locker rooms during his professional career. Each one has its own unique character.

Green is a three-time NBA champion who was traded in exchange for De’Anthony Melton from the Philadelphia 76ers to the Memphis Grizzlies during the offseason. He says his new teammates have one thing in common: They are all obsessed with the same musician.

Green said that one of the first things he noticed about Memphis is that everyone on the roster listens to 23-year-old Louisiana rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again. He spoke about the obsession on his podcast with co-host Harrison Sanford.

Here is what Green had to say when discussing the musician:

“Coming here it made me realize why he’s number one…All they do is listen to Youngboy all day. From morning, to night, from shootaround to the game, it’s NBA YoungBoy.”

Grizzlies star Ja Morant has posted videos of himself blasting NBA YoungBoy. The guard has also come onto the court with the musician playing as well.

YoungBoy used the song “Rose Gold” to give a shout-out to Morant.

Earlier this year, Damichael Cole wrote about how YoungBoy’s music influences the Grizzlies. Here is what Jaren Jackson Jr. told Cole (via Commercial Appeal):

“That’s probably why we have won so many games, honestly. Everybody is on the same page, everybody knows the words. At this point, everybody listens to it. We all know the words. The whole team.”

Cole said that Jackson, Morant, and Brandon Clarke are typically the players who are in charge of the playlists for the team.

Several of the players I interviewed during the pre-draft process, including Onyeka Okongwu and Ayo Dosunmu, described YoungBoy as their favorite musician.

Last season, before a game, Phoenix’s Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton gave fans an impromptu YoungBoy singalong on the jumbotron.

Mikal Bridges and Deandre Ayton gave us an impromptu NBA Youngboy concert and it was the absolute best

This is definitely Mikal Bridges’ favorite song.

The Phoenix Suns, man. They are just one of the most fun teams in the NBA right now.

Not just from a basketball standpoint, either. The personalities on this team are incredible. We got a taste of that during their deep playoff run last season where we saw just how tightly knit this team is. They know how to have a good time.

That was on full display yesterday during the pregame shootaround for their matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Ahead of tip-off, an NBA Youngboy cut started playing on the speakers. And, all of a sudden, you could see the song just take over for Mikal Bridges.

Deandre Ayton joined in, too. He even used a mop as a mic for effect. They put on a whole concert.

This is just the absolute best, man. It’s great because you know this feeling so well. Like, I KNOW this has been all of us at one point or another.

My man is in the zone with the track right now. Nothing was taking him out of it. Luckily, he had some buddies to join in with him. And these dudes have some pretty sweet dance moves.

NBA fans felt Bridges and his guys on this one. They turned up.

Daughter of Floyd Mayweather arrested for felony assault: report

The daughter of Floyd Mayweather, Iyanna, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Saturday night in Houston.

The daughter of Floyd Mayweather, Iyanna, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Saturday night in Houston, NBCnews.com reported.

Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather, 19, allegedly stabbed a 25-year-old woman named Lapattra Lashai Jacobs during a fight over rapper NBA Youngboy. Jacobs did not suffer life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Mayweather was booked at around 1:30 a.m. at a jail in Harris County.

Police told TMZ that Jacobs and NBA Youngboy were at his home when Mayweather arrived, said she was engaged to the rapper and told Jacobs to leave

Jacobs, who reportedly has a child with the rapper, told Mayweather to leave, after which the argument moved to the kitchen. Mayweather was holding two knives when, according to TMZ sources, Jacobs lunged at Mayweather, who allegedly responded by stabbing the victim twice.

Jacobs reportedly was lying on the kitchen floor when paramedics arrived and she was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery.

Mayweather told police that Jacobs initiated the confrontation by pulling her hair. She said she had never met Jacobs before the incident.

NBA Youngboy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, was briefly held by police and released. Police told NBCnews.com, “I can confirm that one of the witnesses interviewed by police at the scene is named Kentrell.”

Mayweather, 19, is the daughter of Floyd Mayweather and Melissa Brim. She is a singer and social media celebrity.
