Prediction

Celtics 114, Heat 109

Money line (ML)

The CELTICS (-150) are money line favorites once again in this series despite being down 3-2. They looked impressive in Game 5, winning that contest by 13 points (121-108). Boston has been the far better offensive team in the last three games, shooting nearly 47% from the field. Meanwhile, the Heat are down to 42.3% in their last three contests.

Each game has been close in this series and it feels like it will end up going seven games. Look for Boston play with a sense of urgency once again as it pushes the Eastern Conference Finals to Game 7.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The CELTICS -3 (-110) are one-basket favorites over the Heat. Boston hasn’t been great against the spread this season against Miami (2-4 ATS), but the Celtics appear to be figuring out the Heat. In this series, Boston has lost three games by a combined 11 points. The Celtics know how to keep games close and they are now finding a way to finish games out against this talented Heat roster.

Expect this game to be close as well, and for Boston to cover the small spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 6 is set at 214.5 points, which still feels low. The Over has now hit in four of the five games in this series and each side has no problem getting to 109 or more points. While the defensive intensity is expected to pick up even more in this game, expect the OVER 214.5 (-110) as both teams should come close to 110 points.

Prediction

Celtics 113, Heat 103

Money line (ML)

Despite being down 3-1 in this series, the CELTICS (-154) are slight moneyline favorites over the Heat in Game 5. Miami (+130) has been incredible of late, winning 11 of its last 13 games, but with Boston needing this game to stay alive in the Eastern Conference Finals, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they played with more urgency and aggressiveness.

Expect Miami to close this series out in six games, but for Boston to take Game 5 in convincing fashion.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The CELTICS -3 (-110) are one-basket favorites Friday night. Boston has struggled against the spread, failing to cover in four of its last six contests. If you are betting on the Boston money line but want a little bit better odds, consider taking them to cover the spread and win by 4 or more points.

If Boston wins this game, it will likely be by more than a three-pointer, so it’s not hard to pick the Celtics to cover this spread at -110. Miami has covered four of the last five games against Boston, but expect the Celtics to bounce back here in Game 5.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Eastern Conference Finals matchup is set at 213.5 points, which feels a bit low considering how the first four games of this series have gone. At least 221 total points were scored in three of the previous four contests, and in the one game that didn’t top the projection that mark came in at 207 points.

While both of these defenses can really lock down at times, both squads have a ton of scoring options. Expect this game to stay around 215 or so points, but for the OVER 213.5 (-110) to ultimately hit in Orlando.

Prediction

Celtics 111, Heat 107

Money line (ML)

The CELTICS (-162) are slight moneyline favorites over the Heat (+135) despite being down 2-1 in this series. Boston won Game 3 in convincing fashion and with the long break between games, it gives SF Gordon Hayward more time to recover from that contest.

With Boston having so many defenders to throw at Heat SF Jimmy Butler, look for them to steal Game 4 and even the series at 2-2.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The CELTICS -3 (-110) are one-basket favorites. While Boston has struggled against the spread in recent games against Miami (5-10 ATS), this spread is so low that a victory would almost guarantee they cover.

If you believe the Celtics will win this contest, consider taking them to cover the spread as well as it presents far more value to bettors.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 4 is set at 210.5 points, which feels a tad low. While both of these teams can be aggressive on defense, Boston has scored 114 or more points in two of these Eastern Conference Finals games.

Miami will want to slow down the tempo of this game but expect the Heat to reach 100 points as well, allowing the OVER 210.5 (-110) to hit.

Prediction

Celtics 110, Heat 106

Money line (ML)

The CELTICS (-143) are slight favorites over the Heat in this contest despite trailing 0-2. Miami has won 10 of its last 11 games and the only loss was in overtime of Game 4 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

With the Celtics needing this game to stay alive in the series, look for them to play with a sense of urgency. Take Boston on the moneyline, but consider a bet against the point spread instead as it offers more value.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The CELTICS -2.5 (-110) are one-basket favorites. Boston hasn’t fared well against the spread of late, failing to cover in four of its last six games. They have held late fourth-quarter leads over the Heat in both games and will hang-on Saturday.

With some luck, the Celtics could very well be up 2-0 in this series, but they have struggled to put Miami away in the fourth quarter. Don’t expect that to be an issue Saturday and for Boston to win by a few buckets in Game 3.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 3 between the Celtics and Heat is set at 207.5 points, which feels slightly low. While Game 2 saw just 207 points scored, Game 1 was a much higher scoring contest as both teams scored into the 110s.

Both of these teams can clamp down on defense at will, but this total is just too low. Take the OVER 207.5 (-110) and expect both teams to score into the 100s.

Prediction

Heat 106, Celtics 100

Money line (ML)

The Heat (+120) and the Celtics (-143) both delivered blows in Miami’s 117-114 Game 1 overtime win. Boston jumped out to an 8-point lead after the first quarter and Miami countered with a plus-8 second quarter.

The Celtics came out strong in the second half and built a 12-point lead heading into the fourth. The Heat stormed back in the fourth to send the game to overtime.

While Boston entered the series as a narrow favorite, Miami’s Game 1 performance should have them as the betting favorite entering the second game of the series. The Celtics shot their regular-season average from three (36%) but were outshot from deep by the Heat (44% from three).

There are two major reasons for that; Miami shot the second-highest percentage from deep in the regular season (38%) and the Heat exploited Boston’s lack of size to create good looks. The Heat outscored the Celtics in the paint 48-26. It’s natural for the defense to protect the paint more if they are getting bullied inside.

The HEAT (+120) are the better side so let’s splash a half-unit on them to win outright.

New to sports betting? A $50 bet on the Heat (+120) pays a $60 profit if Miami upsets Boston.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Heat +2.5 (-110) are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings, as Erik Spoelstra has coached better than Brad Stevens in a majority of the previous 10 Heat-Celtics games. The Celtics (-2.5, -110) have the more talented roster in recent years but currently, the talent discrepancy is close to nonexistent.

In fact, I’d argue with Bam Adebayo’s development, the early maturation of rookie SG Tyler Herro and Miami’s acquisition of SF Jae Crowder, the Heat are the more talented team. The absence of SF Gordon Hayward is proving to be a factor for the Celtics and he’s considered “doubtful” for Game 2.

All that being said, Jayson Tatum is the best player in the series and if there’s an edge on either side, it’s slight. Buy a half-point and get the HEAT +3 (-121) on the alternate spread.

It’s insurance on our money line wager and a single possession cushion could pay dividends. A $121 wager on the Heat +3 (-121) returns a $100 profit if Miami wins or loses by two or fewer points.

Over/Under (O/U)

I lean Under 209.5 (-110) but will PASS THE TOTAL because I don’t have the same feel for it as the sides. Each team’s pace in Game 1 was 90.0 and was slower than their below-average regular-season pace compared to the league.

Tatum and Heat PG Goran Dragic are ballin’ and there are just too many good offensive players out there for me to play Under 209.5.

Prediction

Celtics 109, Heat 106

Money line (ML)

The CELTICS (-134) are slight money line favorites over the Heat in Game 1. Despite going to a Game 7 against the Toronto Raptors, Boston has won 12 of its last 16 games. Miami (+110) has been incredibly hot as well, but Boston has the defenders to potentially slow down SF Jimmy Butler.

Look for this game to be close throughout, but for the CELTICS (-134) to win Game 1.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The CELTICS (-2, -110) are just one basket favorites in this contest over the Heat. Boston has covered in eight of its last 11 games, while Miami has covered in eight of its last nine games.

With the line being so low, don’t be afraid to take the Boston point spread instead of the money line, as it presents more value. Expect this to be a close contest that likely comes down to foul shooting in the last minute of the game.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this matchup is set at 209.5. Certainly, the defenses are top-notch, but a point total of 209.5 feels low.

Look for both of these teams to hover around 110 points, allowing the OVER to hit with relative ease.

Celtics vs. Raptors: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated Thursday at 11:11 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Raptors 104, Celtics 99

Moneyline (ML)

The higher-seeded RAPTORS (+115) have erased series deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to take this series the distance and now have the chance to return to the Eastern Conference Finals with one more win over the rival Celtics (-139).

Toronto led by four points going into the fourth quarter of Game 6 after outscoring Boston 33-25 in the third frame to wipe away a four-point halftime deficit. The Raps shot 19-for-47 from 3-point range in the win with the Celtics going 19-for-46. The defending champs hit on 18 of 25 free-throw attempts but made just three more bonus shots than the Celtics on seven more chances.

Raps PG Kyle Lowry was the game’s leading scorer with 33 points in 53:28 of floor time. SG Norman Powell, who played 38:20 off the bench, was second on his team with 23 points. PF Pascal Siakam (12 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists) continued his offensive struggles in the series.

Both teams had three players top 50 minutes in the double-overtime affair, so fatigue should negatively affect both sides equally. Lean on the RAPTORS (+115) at plus-money as the higher-seeded team from the regular season with the value in what should be an evenly-priced Game 7. Toronto opened the series as a heavy favorite to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals but are now discounted.

Also see:

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Again in this series, we’ll PASS on the spread while liking the Raptors (+2.5, -110) much more at plus-money to win outright as slight underdogs rather than paying for the single bucket of insurance in the event of a loss.

There’s value in the Celtics’ (-2.5, -110) side of the line based on their two double-digit point wins in the series.

Over/Under (O/U)

Game 6 was the first of the series to go Over the projected total and it took double-overtime to get there.

Lean to the UNDER 203.5 (-110) with the extra pressures of Game 7 putting an even greater focus on play at the defensive ends of the court.

Thunder vs. Rockets: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Rockets 113, Thunder 106

Moneyline (ML)

The ROCKETS (-239) open this Game 7 contest against the Thunder as big moneyline favorites. Despite the Rockets losing six of their last nine games and their offense sputtering at times, oddsmakers believe they will close out this series Wednesday night.

It is a bit concerning that Houston has lost three of the last four games against Oklahoma City, but they simply have the more talented roster and should be able to outscore the Thunder in Game 7. Take Houston to win this game outright.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The ROCKETS -5.5 (-110) are two-basket favorites. While the last game between these two squads was close, most of these games have been decided by seven ore more points. While Game 7s have a tendency to be a bit sloppy, look for the Rockets to try to take care of business early in this game to avoid any late-game troubles.

Take HOUSTON 5.5 (-110) to win by at least 6 points and cover the spread in this win-or-go-home game.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Game 7 matchup between the Rockets and Thunder is set at 215.5 points. As mentioned above, Game 7s tend to be sloppy and lower scoring; however, look for both teams to approach 110 points in this contest and for the OVER 215.5 (-110) to hit in Orlando.

Rockets vs. Thunder: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Thunder 114, Rockets 111

Moneyline (ML)

Take the value with the THUNDER (+180); the lopsided score in Game 5 has skewed the moneyline prices. This series was tied just one game ago, but the Rockets are now prohibitive -223 favorites while looking to advance to Round 2.

The Rockets got 31 points from G James Harden, 22 points from F Robert Covington, and 20 points from G Eric Gordon in Game 5. PG Russell Westbrook went for 7 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in 24 minutes in his return to the lineup. The Thunder were led by G Dennis Schroder‘s modest 19 points Saturday.

OKC won Games 3 and 4 by 12 and 3 points, respectively. Take advantage of a moneyline skewed by recency bias and back the Thunder to even this series 3-3 with a better offensive effort.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Thunder to win would return a profit of $18.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

AVOID the Thunder +5 (-110) on the spread and stick with them to pull the outright upset. The Rockets’ three victories in this series have been by margins of 15, 13 and 34 points.

OKC can win a tight game, but Houston has shown a clear ability to shut down the Thunder and cruise to victory. If you like the Rockets to close the Round 1 series with a win Monday, the -110 odds to cover -5 and win by at least 6 points offers a much greater profit.

Over/Under (O/U)

There’s a slight lean to the UNDER 226.5 while following the Thunder as the outright pick to win. Their two victories in this series have played to totals of 226 and 231 points. Overall, three of five games have finished below 227 total points.

Nuggets vs. Jazz: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:55 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Jazz 118, Nuggets 112

Moneyline (ML)

The JAZZ (-140) open this contest as slight moneyline favorites over the Nuggets (+115) in Game 6. Despite being the lower seed in this series, Utah appears to be the more talented roster and should be able to close out this Game 6.

Considering the odds, take Utah to win outright on Sunday evening.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The JAZZ -2.5 (-110) are one-basket favorites over the Nuggets Sunday evening. While it’s worth noting Denver has covered the spread in six of the last eight meetings between these two teams, the spread is so low it makes it easy to take Utah in this game.

The Jazz just have a higher ceiling than the Nuggets and have shown that in this series with their ability to dominate on both ends of the court. Take Utah to win and cover while advancing to the next round of the playoffs.

Over/Under (O/U)

The point total for Game 6 is set at 219.5 points after the Over has hit in back-to-back games in this series. Utah’s offense has been fairly consistent, scoring at least 107 points in every game. In fact, they have scored at least 124 points in four of the five games in this series. Denver’s offense has been less consistent, but the Nuggets have shown their potential by scoring 135 and 127 points in two games against the Jazz.

With both offenses having the ability to score in the 120s, take the OVER 219.5 (-110) in this critical Game 6.
