Roundball Rock is officially returning to the NBA on NBC in 2025 and fans are stoked

The soundtrack to the NBA in the 90’s is coming back!

BAH BAH BAH BAH BASKETBALL, GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE THE BALL BECAUSE I’M GONNA DUNK IT!

Ok, those may not be the official lyrics to John Tesh’s acclaimed Roundball Rock, but we dare anyone not to sing along with the epic NBA on NBC theme song when the broadcasts return in 2025.

As the NBA begins announcing broadcast deals for it’s next media rights package — and, yes, TNT’s status is still unclear in all of this — NBC has confirmed it’s bringing the theme back.

At the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon who says “you had to be there”, anyone paying attention to the NBA in the 1990s (and who wasn’t?) is guaranteed to get goosebumps just hearing the opening notes.

Well, we can go ahead and replace those highlights of Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson in the intro with LeBron James, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic because, finally, another generation is going to get to enjoy one of the best themes in all of sports.

Needless to say, basketball fans were thrilled.
