The Cavs brought in Adem Bona for a workout.
UCLA Bruins big man Adem Bona is garnering a lot of eyeballs ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft. After an impressive season at UCLA and a stand-out performance at the NBA Combine, he has been flying up draft boards.
Recently, the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted a number of players for pre-draft workouts, including Adem Bona, per Adam Zagoria.
The Cavs have a lot of young talent and are a team that should contend in the Eastern Conference for years to come, no matter what happens with Donovan Mitchell this summer.
The Cavs have Evan Mobley and Isaiah Mobley, both of whom played for the USC Trojans, and now they brought in Bona as well as some others for pre-draft workouts.
The Cleveland Cavaliers hosted a pre-draft workout today that included the following per league sources:
Adem Bona (UCLA)
Ta’Lon Cooper (South Carolina)
Tyler Thomas (Hofstra)
Kel’el Ware (Indiana)— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) June 10, 2024
Bona should have plenty of other workouts leading up to the 2024 NBA Draft at the end of June, and he should have no problem hearing his name called on draft night.

If the Lakers don’t pick Bronny at No. 55, another team could then pounce.
The NBA draft is almost here. It is just a week and a half away. USC guard Bronny James is waiting to see, first of all, if he will be drafted. Then he will want to know where he is going at the start of his professional career. If we are being honest, it is likely that Bronny will play in the G League for a good portion of next season. However, being with LeBron James on the Lakers would be a unique experience for Bronny. If he does go to the Lakers, he will certainly accompany his dad on at least a few flights to NBA games and warm up on court in an NBA team uniform, which would be really cool. Is it a done deal that Bronny is going to the Lakers, or will another team intervene?
LeBron Wire picked up a report in which NBA writer Marc Stein said the following:
“The Mavericks would have interest in selecting Bronny James with the 58th overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, league sources say,” Stein reported. But the Mavericks also realize it’s extremely unlikely that James will still be available for selection. All current indications suggest that LeBron James’ 19-year-old son will be selected earlier in the second round before Dallas makes the last pick in the draft.”
The Lakers have the No. 55 pick in the NBA draft and are expected to use it on Bronny. If the Lakers do pass on Bronny, no team picking after No. 55 could be blamed for ruining the Lakers’ plans.

After winning one of the NBA’s four lottery picks for a fourth straight year, the Rockets will again host a draft-night party for fans in downtown Houston.
Continuing a theme from recent years, the Houston Rockets will again host a NBA draft-night experience for fans in 2024.
This year, the official event will take place in Hall A at the George R. Brown Convention Center — which is located just steps from the team’s home arena of Toyota Center in downtown Houston.
Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday, June 26, which is the night of the first round. More details will be released in the coming days, according to the team’s Friday announcement.
Had Houston traded out of the first round, or landed at its expected draft placement of No. 9 overall prior to the lottery, it’s unclear if the recent tradition would have been kept alive.
But with the Rockets unexpectedly landing one of the NBA’s four lottery picks (this year, No. 3 overall) for a fourth straight year, there is seemingly enough excitement to warrant the effort.
The first round starts at 7:00 p.m. Central, and it will be broadcast nationally on both ABC and ESPN. The second round takes place the following day (Thursday, June 27) at 3:00 p.m. Central on ESPN.

The sophomore All-American received an invite to the green room for the NBA draft according to an ESPN report on Friday.
Former Duke basketball star [autotag]Kyle Filipowski[/autotag] received an invitation to the NBA draft green room, according to a Friday report from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
After a freshman season that included ACC Tournament MVP honors and the conference’s Rookie of the Year award, the 7-footer returned to the Blue Devils for a second season in 2023-24. He was rewarded with a spot Second Team All-American squad after he averaged 16.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
The New York native entices teams because of his two abnormal skills as a tall forward: his 3-point shooting (34.8% from beyond the arc last season) and his ability to facilitate with the ball in his hands (2.8 assists per game).
In March, he helped the No. 4-seed Blue Devils reach the Sweet 16 when he scored 16 points against the Houston Cougars, the top-ranked team in the region, to power Duke’s 54-51 upset.
Filipowski scored at least 20 points in 11 of his 36 games last season, including a season-high 30 points against Georgia Tech back in January.

Jared McCain, the sharpshooting Duke freshman who took the NCAA Tournament by storm, received an invite to attend the NBA draft with his family.
Duke basketball star [autotag]Jared McCain[/autotag] received an invite to the NBA draft green room on Friday, according to a report from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
Givony said his sources said McCain and his family received the invite.
The 6-foot-3 guard connected on more than 41% of his 3-pointers last season and put up at least 30 points in three different games, including two in the NCAA Tournament. He set school records for the most 3-pointers made by a freshman in a regular-season game (eight against Florida State) and the most 3-pointers made by any Blue Devil in a March Madness game (eight against James Madison in the second round).
McCain ended the season with 14.3 points per game and 5.0 rebounds. Despite his frame, he put together four double-doubles during his freshman season. He finished his first game against North Carolina with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and he buried at least four triples in seven games.
The former Blue Devil also earned praise after a 3-point shooting performance at the combine with scouts praising the repeatability of his form.
