Bucks vs. Wizards: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 8:10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Bucks 121, Wizards 107

Moneyline (ML)

AVOID. The Bucks (-358) are way too expensive, and they are playing in the second end of a back-to-back after falling to the Toronto Raptors Monday.

They have the No. 1 seed in the East already locked up, and Antetokounmpo is unlikely to play after undergoing oral surgery. Pat Connaughton took a hard fall Monday, bumping his head on the hardwood. He could be rested as a precaution, too, while Wesley Matthews is battling a quadriceps or groin issue, so there might be no need to push him, either.

On the flip side, there’s no reason to ever take the Wizards (+275), who are 0-for-the-bubble and just in shambles.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Bucks would return a profit of just $2.80 if they win, while a $10 wager on the Wizards would fetch a profit of $27.50 if they pull a stunner.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The BUCKS (-8, -110), even if I were starting in the backcourt, should be able to do enough to push past the lowly Wizards (+8, -110) and get the win. Of course, the Brooklyn Nets beat Milwaukee straight up last week, so anything is possible.

And hey, the boys from Cream City are 6-2 ATS in the second end of a back-to-back, while the Wizards are 1-5 ATS in the past six overall and can’t wait to get out of the bubble and go home.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 229.5 (-110) is the lean, even though the Over has connected in each of the previous four meetings in this series. The Bucks have nothing to play for and won’t be pushing the pace, and the Wizards are counting the seconds to socially distance themselves from the bubble and hit the golf course.

Lakers vs. Nuggets: Updated odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 6 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 118, Nuggets 109

Moneyline (ML)

AVOID. The Lakers (-209 was -223 earlier today) have already clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the Western Conference, and they have nearly their entire team listed on the injury report with some sort of ailment. While Caldwell-Pope and Rondo are the only players officially listed as out, any player could be tabbed to rest with nothing left to play for in this outing.

The Nuggets (+170 was +180 earlier today) might be worth a small-unit play here, if anything, as they are one-game back of the Los Angeles Clippers for the No. 2 spot in the West. Barton and Harris have been ruled out again, so there is plenty of risk.

New to sports betting? To bet on the Lakers, it would cost $209 to gain a profit of $100 if the Lakers win, while every $10 wagered on the Nuggets would fetch a profit of $17.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The LAKERS -5 (-110) are worth taking, even though there is some risk here with the lengthy injury list, so be very mindful during the day and be ready to amend your ticket if someone is ruled out right before tip-off.

The Nuggets +5 (-110) are a tempting play, but with Barton and Harris still out, Denver isn’t near 100%, either.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 223.5 (-110) increased three points during the day. It is a good play, going 19-7-2 in the previous 28 meetings between these teams. Denver has also hit the over in each of their five games inside the bubble, while the over hit in the most recent outing where the Lakers had a full squad.

LA is allowing 114.5 points per game across its past two, and at least 105 points in each of the five games in the bubble.

Denver Nuggets vs. LA Lakers betting: Bank on these Lakers player props

Cash in on these Los Angeles Lakers prop bets Monday night against the Denver Nuggets.

[jwplayer l8fXl8Bu]

NBA player props are just one of the many lines BetMGM Sportsbook will list among the NBA games they’ll take NBA betting action. It can be a lot of fun, and very profitable, betting on player props if you’re a superfan of a team or regular daily fantasy player.

Let’s a take shot at a couple Lakers player props ahead of Monday’s Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Lakers game.

Anthony Davis to score 30+ points (+240)

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

Admittedly, the (+240) payout of AD putting a 30-piece on the Nuggets is very enticing but there are a couple of reasons we’re cashing this ticket.

First, Davis put up 30-plus in two of the three Nuggets-Lakers games this season. Second, Davis has been getting his normal playing time in the bubble. In the six Lakers restart games, Davis is averaging 34 minutes per game (his season average is 34.3 minutes).

Special Line! Bet $1 on either the Lakers or Nuggets, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team hit a 3-pointer Monday, Aug. 10th, 2020! Regardless of the outcome of the game, you win. Place your legal NBA bets in CO, IN, NJ and WV at BetMGM now! Visit BetMGM for terms and conditions. Bet Now!

Third, and most importantly, Davis has lit up the Nuggets in his career. His third-highest scoring game ever was a 50-burger he dropped on the Nuggets while playing for the New Orleans Pelicans and Davis has scored 30-plus in six of his 12 starts against Denver in his career.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on Davis to score 30+ points (+240) returns a $24 profit if AD puts up 30 or more points against the Nuggets Monday.

LeBron James Under 23.5 points (-110)

While the King is getting his normal usage in the bubble (33.8 minutes per game during the NBA’s restart compared to 34.8 minutes per game), he’s not scoring at the same clip.

LeBron is averaging 21.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.4 assists in his last five games. He hasn’t eclipsed Monday’s projected total of 23.5 points yet in the restart. LeBron is shooting a below-average .452% field goal and .286% three-point.

Also see:

There could be several factors as to why LeBron hasn’t been as effective in the bubble. Is he still knocking the rust off? Is he trying to get others involved and their confidence up as we get closer to the postseason? Is the “groin” issue a bigger problem than he’s letting on? How motivated is he with the Lakers clinching the 1-seed in the West already?

All of these are fair questions and play a part in BetMGM’s pricing of LeBron’s point-player prop. LeBron is projected to score close to two points less than his season average (25.4 PPG) and 3.6 points less than his career average (27.1 PPG). Either way, we see what BetMGM sees and LeBron’s less than stellar scoring should continue.

New to sports betting? A $110 bet on Under 23.5 points (-110) for LeBron James pays a $100 profit if the King scores 23 or fewer points.

Denver Nuggets vs. LA Lakers betting: Bank on these Nuggets player props

Consider these Denver Nuggets player props Monday night when they play the LA Lakers.

[jwplayer l8fXl8Bu]

Even “sharp” sports bettors can get bogged down by team sides and totals without looking at the other gambling options on the bookmakers’ menu. For every game, BetMGM Sportsbook has a whole bunch of lines for quarters, halves, races to points and, my favorite player props.

Let’s focus on Denver Nuggets player props in our handicap of NBA Monday’s second main event — Denver Nuggets versus the Los Angeles Lakers

Nikola Jokic Under 18.5 points (-110)

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10 a.m. ET.

Jokic has shown off his game’s versatility throughout Denver’s five games in the bubble. He’s averaging 22.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game, has three double-doubles and one triple-double in the Nuggets’ restart.

But the Lakers have a wave of bigs they can use to slowdown Jokic. These bigs have had success keeping Jokic from filling up the bucket this season and in the past. In the three Nuggets-Lakers games earlier this season, Jokic has cleared 18.5 points just once.

While Jokic and Lakers PF Anthony Davis might not play the exact same position, both occupy a lot of the same space and Davis is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Well, in their 12 previous meetings, Jokic has never outscored Davis in a game and is averaging 14.5 points in those games compared to AD’s 29.5 points.

Special Line! Bet $1 on either the Lakers or Nuggets to win and WIN an additional $100 (in free bets) if either the Lakers or Nuggets hit a 3-pointer Monday, Aug. 10th, 2020! Regardless of the outcome of the game, you win. Place your legal NBA bets in CO, IN, NJ and WV at BetMGM now! Visit BetMGM for terms and conditions. Bet Now!

Again, Los Angeles is deep in the frontcourt. Lakers starting C JaVale McGee has done an excellent job bottling up Jokic, holding him under 18.5 points in nine of his 13 starts against “The Joker”. Los Angeles has former Defensive Player of the Year, C Dwight Howard, coming off the bench and Jokic has scored more than 18.5 points in just one of his six starts against Howard.

New to sports betting? A $110 bet on Jokic Under 18.5 points (-110) yields a profit of $100 if the Lakers hold Jokic to 18 or fewer points.

Jamal Murray to score 20+ points (EVEN)

Murray had an active performance in his NBA bubble debut in Denver’s double-overtime victory over the Utah Jazz Saturday. He played 39 minutes, took 25 shots, and nearly notched a triple-double putting up 23 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists.

Also see:

Obviously, I like that the line has no vig (even money bet). It’s important that Murray has a game under his belt before playing the Lakers. He was thrown right into the fire of NBA action and should have his legs more under him now that he’s had game experience.

Furthermore, Murray plays his most efficient offense and shoots better from the field, three-point land and has a higher True Shooting % compared to his other rest splits.

Last thing, Murray has scored 20 or more points in six of his 10 career starts against the Lakers. New to sports betting? For every $10 bet on Murray to score 20+ points (EVEN/100), it earns a $10 profit if Murray scores 20 or more.

Raptors vs. Bucks: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:55 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Bucks 109, Raptors 106

Moneyline (ML)

PASS. The Bucks (-239) have the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference locked up, so they’re a little risky to pick as they could easily rest some of their biggest stars. They might not. But they still don’t have a lot to play for as they get ready for what they hope is a deep run into the postseason. Plus, risking more than two times your potential return isn’t a good idea. The Raptors (+195) would be an attractive play here normally, but they’re playing in the second end of a back-to-back situation.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Bucks would return a profit of just $4.18 if they win, while a $10 wager on the Raptors would fetch a profit of $19.50.

Also see:

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The RAPTORS (+6, -110) are worth a small-unit wager in this spot, even if they are playing in the second end of a back-to-back. There is a slight chance Antetokounmpo sits out. He played one half against the Brooklyn Nets last time out due to a toothache, and with nothing to play for, why risk it?

The Raps are a much better play than the Bucks (-6, -110), especially since Toronto is a respectable 4-1 SU/3-2 ATS in their previous five in the second end of a back-to-back.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 226.5 (-110) has connected in each of Toronto’s five games in the bubble so far, and six in a row overall. The Under also connected in each of the first two meetings between these teams during the regular season, too.

Jazz vs. Spurs: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated Friday at 10:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Spurs 125, Jazz 113

Moneyline (ML)

PASS. Despite being 11 games under .500, the Spurs (-358) are big favorites because the Jazz (+275) are resting several players in this early-window game in the bubble. The price is just too expensive. San Antonio has given Utah fits this season, going 2-0. The Spurs won 127-120 as five-point underdogs at home Jan. 29, and claimed a 113-104 upset in Salt Lake City as 7-point dogs Feb. 21.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Spurs would only return a profit of just $2.79 if they win outright. A $10 bet on the Jazz fetches a profit of $27.50 if they are victorious.

Also see:

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

With the Jazz in rest mode, the SPURS (-8, -110) are the play here. They’re 2-0 SU and 2-0 ATS this season against the Jazz, and have covered three of their four games in the bubble. The Spurs are also 5-2 ATS across the past seven meetings with the Jazz.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 223.5 (-110) is the way to go, as the Spurs have paid very little mind to defense and have been explosive on offense so far in the bubble. In fact, San Antonio has scored 126 or more points in three of its four bubble adventures, and has allowed 132 points in each of its previous two outings. They Spurs are also averaging 120.0 points in two meetings with the Jazz, while Utah is posting 112.0 PPG in those two contests. Look for another over.

Nuggets vs. Spurs: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Nuggets 122, Spurs 120

Moneyline (ML)

The Nuggets (-161) are a risky play here, as they have split a pair in their first two games in the bubble. They won in overtime last time out against the Oklahoma City Thunder, winning 121-113.

The Spurs (+135) would be the team to risk playing if you absolutely have to play the moneyline, as they’re a good value at this price after going 2-1 in their first three inside the bubble. These teams met once during the regular season, with the Nuggets winning 127-120 Feb. 10 in the Mile High City. AVOID.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Nuggets returns a profit of just $6.20 if they win. A $10 bet on the Spurs returns a profit of $13.50 if they pull off the upset.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The SPURS (+3, -110) have covered each of their three games since arriving in the bubble, and they have covered four games in a row overall. This will be a very entertaining game, likely coming down to the final possession. Take the Spurs to continue being cover kings, win or lose outright.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 225.5 (-110) is worth a look in this one, having cashed in five of the previous seven head-to-head battles in this series. The Nuggets are a little banged up, and defense hasn’t exactly been their hallmark since arriving in Central Florida.

They have yielded 119.0 points per game inside the bubble in two games, while the Spurs combined for 262 points in their narrow loss to the 76ers last time out. They have racked up 129 or more points in two of their three games in the bubble, hitting the Over twice in three outings, too.

Rockets vs. Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Trail Blazers 123, Rockets 121

Moneyline (ML)

The Rockets (-176) are modest moneyline favorites over the TRAIL BLAZERS (+145) on Tuesday evening. While Houston has won back-to-back games in the NBA bubble, the Blazers have played well too, beating the Memphis Grizzlies and narrowly falling to the Boston Celtics.

It’s worth noting that Portland has won four of its last six games against Houston. And with the Trail Blazers needing this win more to stay in the playoff hunt, consider taking the underdog here and the value.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Rockets -4 (-110) open this contest as two-basket favorites over the TRAIL BLAZERS +4 (-110). Not only has Portland had a lot of recent success against Houston in terms of the wins column, but they have covered the spread in six of the last eight meetings.

Portland is one of the few teams in the NBA that can play the fast-paced style that Houston likes to use and the Trail Blazers have the players to out-shoot the Rockets on any given night. Given the value, take the Trail Blazers and enjoy watching this high-scoring game in Orlando.

Over/Under (O/U)

The point total for this Western Conference matchup is set at an incredible 242.5 points. However, that line still may be too low based on what we have seen so far in the NBA bubble.

In their two games in Orlando, Houston is averaging a whopping 136.5 points per game. And with the Trail Blazers having one of the league’s worst defenses, they should have no problem scoring over 120 points in this contest.

Portland has been incredible on offense too in the NBA restart, averaging 134 points per game. Both teams are among the best teams on offense in the NBA. Take the OVER here and watch the buckets fly in from both sides.

Prediction

Bucks 136, Nets 104

Moneyline (ML)

The Bucks (-3334) beat the Nets (+1300) 117-97 in their only meeting before the regular season was put on pause. The Nets even had Allen, LeVert, SG Spencer Dinwiddie and PG Kyrie Irving available for that one. They don’t this time, and the final result will be much more skewed.

Brooklyn beat the Washington Wizards 118-110 Sunday with 34 points from LeVert and 27 from Harris. Without those two they’ll have nowhere near enough firepower to compete with a Bucks team looking to avenge a 120-116 loss to the Houston Rockets Sunday.

The Nets are preserving themselves in a scheduled loss for more meaningful games against teams closer to them in the standings in an effort to secure the eighth seed in the East. Eat the chalk and make some pennies on the BUCKS (-3334) if you must. They won’t lose.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The point spread of BUCKS -19 (-110) asks whether the Eastern Conference’s top seed will be able to win by at least 19 points. The easy answer is yes, and there’s no reason not to expect the final score to be a whole lot worse.

The Bucks are getting SG Pat Connaughton and PG Eric Bledsoe back in the lineup Tuesday. It’s not as though they needed any extra manpower, but it gives them a chance to see something closer to their full rotation ahead of the playoffs.

Back the Bucks in what is sure to be a blowout against the severely undermanned Nets.

Over/Under (O/U)

The low total projection of 229.5 is indicative of how BetMGM is viewing the lowly Nets. They certainly won’t contribute their share toward the total, but the Bucks can be expected to outperform their season average of 118.6 points per game.

Take the OVER 229.5 (-110).
