VIDEO: NBA MVP Odds – LeBron James’ stock falling

The team at SportsGrid discuss LeBron James and his NBA MVP odds pricing.

Is now a good time to place an NBA MVP futures bet on LeBron James?

Of all NBA players, James has the shortest odds as the oddsmakers favorite to win this season’s MVP award. He’s currently at +175 (bet $100, win $175) on BetMGM sportsbook. For comparison, Joel Embiid is the next closest at +325 (bet $100, win $325).

The team at SportsGrid discuss James and a three-horse race for this year’s NBA MVP honors.

Lakers lead series 3-1

  • SG Dion Waiters (groin) questionable
  • PF Anthony Davis (ankle) probable

Prediction

Nuggets 112, Lakers 106

Money line (ML)

The Lakers (-200) are the moneyline favorites in this contest to close out the NUGGETS (+165) in Game 5. However, if we have learned anything in this playoffs, it is that Denver is nearly impossible to put away. They play their best when their backs are against the wall and will play with urgency. Considering the odds, take Denver to win this game and extend the series Saturday night.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS (+5, -110) are two-basket underdogs to the Lakers on Saturday night in Game 5. Denver has been incredible against the spread as of late, covering or pushing in 12 of their last 15 contests. With PF Anthony Davis banged up with an ankle injury, expect the Lakers’ offense to look a bit sluggish, allowing Denver to stay in this contest. If the money line is too risky of a bet, don’t be afraid of taking the Nuggets and the five points in this contest.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Western Conference Finals matchup is set at 214.5 points, which feels low considering how this series has gone. These two teams have combined for 220 or more points in three of their four games with Game 2 being the only low-scoring contest. Each side has a variety of ways they can score and both teams can get to the free-throw line at a high rate. Don’t expect a ton of points to be scored in this game, but for the OVER to ultimately hit in this do-or-die game for the Nuggets.

Prediction

Nuggets 112, Lakers 108

Money line (ML)

After winning Game 3, the NUGGETS (+200) are still fairly big underdogs in Game 4 of this series against the Lakers (-250). You can make a strong case Denver should be up 2-1 if not for a last-second 3-pointer make by Lakers PF Anthony Davis in Game 2. The Nuggets are clearly talented and can compete with the Lakers.

Given the odds, take Denver to steal Game 4 and even this series at 2-2.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS +6 (-110) are two-basket underdogs against the Lakers Thursday night. Denver has covered the spread in five of its last six games with the only failed cover happening in Game 1 of this series.

Los Angeles has failed to cover the spread in six of their last nine games against Denver and this one will likely be no different. Expect a close game throughout, but for Denver to ultimately win and cover the spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 4 is set at 214.5 points. In two of the three games in this series, the total has gone Over 220 points, and that was with the Lakers making only six threes in Game 3.

Look for both teams to speed up the temp Thursday night and for the OVER 214.5 (-110) to hit in Orlando. This game should reach 220 or more points in Game 4.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets will play Game 3 of their Western Conference Finals series Tuesday in the Orlando bubble. The opening tip is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. We analyze the Lakers-Nuggets NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Lakers vs. Nuggets: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Nuggets 108, Lakers 106

Money line (ML)

The NUGGETS (+220) are big underdogs to the Lakers (-278) in Game 3 of this Western Conference Finals matchup. Denver held a one-point lead over the Lakers in Game 2 before PF Anthony Davis hit the game-winning shot with no time remaining on the clock. It’s clear Denver can hang with Los Angeles and it needs this game to stay alive in this series.

The Lakers have won six-straight games and are the clear favorites to win the NBA Championship at -304 odds. If Denver can get this game, we suddenly have a series. Look for the Nuggets to steal Game 3 to get this series to 2-1.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS +6.5 (-110) are three-basket underdogs. Denver has covered the spread in four of its last five games with the only miss happening in Game 1 of this series. Expect this to be a back-and-forth game that is likely decided in the final minute with foul shooting.

Considering how large this spread is, don’t be afraid to take the Nuggets here if the moneyline bet feels too risky.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Game 3 match up is set at 213.5 points, which feels about right considering the pace of the first two games. The Lakers scored 126 in Game 1, but were held to only 105 in Game 2. The Nuggets have tried to slow down the pace of the game and the Lakers have done the same by using more size in the paint.

Expect another lower-scoring game Tuesday night, but for both teams to reach 105-plus points and for the OVER 213.5 (-110) to hit.

The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers will play Game 2 of their Western Conference Finals series Sunday in the Orlando bubble. The opening tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. We analyze the Nuggets-Lakers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Nuggets vs. Lakers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at Saturday, 9:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 118, Nuggets 113

Money line (ML)

The LAKERS (-334) open Game 2 as big favorites over the Nuggets after an impressive victory in the first meeting. Los Angeles controlled the game throughout and it never got close in the second half. This game should be closer, especially if Denver can stay out of foul trouble. However, the Lakers are still the better bet to come ahead in this contest.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Lakers are three-basket favorites over the NUGGETS (+7.5) on Sunday evening. Los Angeles has covered in five-straight games, but Denver has been great against the spread, as well. The Nuggets have covered in eight of their last 12 games (one game was a push), including three of their last four. Look for this game to be much closer and for Denver to stay within a few baskets.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for Game 2 is set at 214.5 points, and that feels incredibly low considering how great these two teams can be on offense. In Game 1, the Lakers scored 126 points and pulled almost all of their starters with several minutes left in the fourth quarter. Denver scored 114 points themselves and several of their starters were in foul trouble. Don’t expect as many points to be scored in this game as in Game 1, but for the OVER 214.5 (-110) to hit in Game 2.

New to sports betting? A $110 wager on Nuggets-Lakers Oer 214.5 (-110) returns a $100 profit if the combined score is 215 or more in Game 2.

Prediction

Nuggets 112, Lakers 106

Money line (ML)

The Lakers (-278) are big moneyline favorites in Game 1, but it’s the NUGGETS (+225) who are the better bet in this game. Los Angeles lost the first game in each of the first two series it has played and the Lakers have been off for just under a week. While Denver could have some tired legs after an impressive Game 7 win over the Los Angeles Clippers, look for the Nuggets to steal this contest.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS +7 (-110) are big underdogs, but are the better bet here, especially if you opt to avoid picking them on the money line. Denver has covered the spread in five of its last six games and presents some interesting matchups for Los Angeles.

Look for the first game of this series to be somewhat sloppy as the two sides try to figure one another out. Considering how large this spread is, don’t be afraid to take Denver and the points in this one.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Game 1 is set at 211.5 points. While the Under hit in seven of the last eight games for the Nuggets, the Lakers present a lot of interesting challenges for Denver on offense.

Los Angeles’ defense typically struggles early in series, but the Lakers catch up the longer the series goes. Expect both teams to hover around 110 points in this one, allowing the OVER 211.5 (-110) to hit with relative ease.

The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers square off in a decisive Game 7 in their Western Conference Semifinals Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. We analyze the Nuggets-Clippers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Nuggets vs. Clippers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Clippers 104, Nuggets 99

Money line (ML)

Game 6 was a cautionary tale, as you should never bet the overwhelming favorite. It might look like a sure thing, but if an upset occurs, you’re in a bad way. The Clippers (-334) ‘should’ win, but the Nuggets (+260) have miraculously forced their way into a Game 7 for the second straight playoffs series and there are no guarantees.

Betting favorites straight up at anything more than -170 to -180 is just poor gambling and amateur hour, AVOID.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS +7.5 (-110) are the play here, but that hinges on the health of “The Blue Arrow”. If Murray is unable to go, that’s obviously a huge difference; however, he is likely to power through his nagging injury.

The Clippers have never been to the Western Conference Finals in franchise history, and it appears the nerves of being on the precipice of history has really gotten the best of them. They should be able to shake off the pesky Nuggs, but it’s not a good idea to bet the favorite here, especially since Denver is a perfect 5-0 straight up in elimination games this postseason.

Over/Under (O/U)

Play UNDER 207.5 (-110) very lightly. Officially the Under is 4-0-2 in this series. In Game 7 against the Utah Jazz, the Nuggets and Jazz combined for just 158 points. Don’t expect that much defense and poor shooting, but we should see another lower-scoring battle.

Prediction

Clippers 118, Nuggets 108

Moneyline (ML)

The CLIPPERS (-385) are big moneyline favorites over the Nuggets (+290) in Game 6. After blowing a 16-point second-half lead in Game 5, the Clippers are looking to close out the series without going to a Game 7.

Los Angeles is just a more talented team and should play with a sense of urgency in this contest. Don’t expect this game to be particularly close and take the CLIPPERS’ (-385) moneyline.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The CLIPPERS -8.5 (-110) are monster favorites in this contest and it’s not hard to see why. Their three wins in this series have been by a total of 40 points and their two losses have been under double-digits.

If the trend continues, a win by Los Angeles will likely be by double-digits, allowing the Clippers to cover the spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this critical Game 6 is set at 215.5 points. Over the last three games, the Over has hit twice. Expect both sides to come out firing in this contest with the OVER 215.5 (-110) hitting with relative ease.

Prediction

Clippers 108, Nuggets 104

Moneyline (ML)

Ahead 3-1 in the series, the Clippers (-358) look to put the final nail in the coffin of the Nuggets (+280). Los Angeles might be a bit nervous as it attempts to punch a ticket to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. AVOID.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Clippers returns a profit of just $2.79 if they win. A $10 bet on the Nuggets returns a profit of $28 with a win.

Line/Against the spread (ATS)

The NUGGETS +8 (-110) are playing to extend their season, and they’ll be giving it their all. Remember, this is the team that was down 3-1 to the Utah Jazz last series before winning three consecutive elimination games to get to this point. Conversely, as mentioned above, the Clippers -8 (-110) have never been to the conference finals, and there might be a little nerves on their side. I am not saying Denver is going to win, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a one- or two-possession game.

Also see:

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 216.5 (-110) is the play. The Under is 3-0-1 in this series so far, and both teams have seen the Under go 4-0-1 across their past five games. With the intensity ratcheted up in Game 5 we will see another lower scoring battle.

Lakers vs. Rockets: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

NBA odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated Tuesday at 7:10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Lakers 115, Rockets 104

Moneyline (ML)

The Lakers (-223) are heavily favored to win this one and take their first series lead against the Rockets (+180). L.A. has its two biggest guns on the injury report, but you can expect LeBron and A.D. to power through their minor injuries and lead the Lake Show to the victory and cover. Still, you cannot risk more than two times your potential return. AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Lakers returns a profit of just $4.50 if they win. A $10 bet on the Rockets returns a profit of $18 with a win.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The LAKERS -5 (-110) returned in Game 2 with a vengeance after being dumped in the series opener. While L.A. is 5-11 ATS in their past 16 games overall, and that’s a bit concerning, they are 4-0 ATS in their past four when working on a day of rest. As long as LeBron and/or Davis do not have some sort of setback with their injury, this one will go in favor of the purple and gold, and it might be a double-digit win, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 223.5 (-110) had connected in four straight for Houston before the over in Game 2. And the game barely went over the total, hitting by just three points. The defense of the Rockets had been on point during the four-game run, allowing an average of just 95.8 points, but the Lakers dropped 117 on them in the loss. The Lakers have scored 111 or more points in five of the past six, and the over has hit in three of the past four.
