Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are in NBA2K25 and WNBA fans had mixed reactions about the face scans

This is a major improvement for WNBA video game fans.

If you enjoy playing sports video games, you’ll probably want to get your hands on NBA 2K25 once it comes out later this season on September 6.

Although the WNBA season just had its All-Star Game and will soon return to action after a break for the Olympics, basketball fans have not yet had the chance to play as anyone from this exciting rookie class.

That means that those enjoying NBA 2K24 are still playing as the Indiana Fever without Caitlin Clark or the Chicago Sky without Angel Reese. But fortunately, that won’t last much longer as folks will soon get the opportunity to give the game a spin with their favorite first-year pros.

Here is your first look at Indiana’s Clark in the popular video game:

They definitely did a good job capturing certain elements of Clark, especially considering it seems she didn’t use a face scan.

Former Duke basketball star Grayson Allen earns second-highest 3-point rating in NBA 2K25

Former Duke basketball star Grayson Allen led the NBA in 3-point percentage last season, and the NBA 2K25 developers rewarded his form.

Former Duke basketball star [autotag]Grayson Allen[/autotag] had a career year with the Phoenix Suns in 2023-24, and the developers of NBA 2K25 surely took notice of his step forward.

NBA 2K released a list of the five players with the highest 3-point shooting ratings on Monday, and Allen finished second with a 93 overall score. Only Golden State Warriors legend Steph Curry (95) earned a higher grade, and Allen outpaced NBA superstars like Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson.

Allen actually led the NBA in 3-point percentage last season, connecting on 46.1% of his triples en route to a career-high 13.5 points per game. The former Blue Devil had always been an effective deep threat, making at least 39% of his 3-point efforts in each of the previous four seasons, but he became truly deadly in his first year with the Suns.

The campaign led to a four-year contract extension, keeping Allen in Phoenix through 2027-28. He’ll get to play with former Duke teammate Tyus Jones, whom he won a national championship with in 2015, and former Blue Devil Mason Plumlee next season.

Allen, a four-year Duke star, has scored more points in a Duke uniform than any Blue Devil since 2010.

Former UNC and NBA standout Vince Carter named cover athlete for popular video game

If you pick up a copy of the NBA 2K25 Hall of Fame Edition, you’ll recognize the cover athlete.

Outside of the late Kobe Bryant, I can’t think of a better basketball dunker than former North Carolina Tar Heel and longtime NBA veteran Vince Carter.

UNC was treated to three seasons of the high-flying Carter, who took UNC to the 1997 and 1998 Final Fours. He came off the bench for 12 games during his freshman season (1995-1996), then started all 72 games over his final two seasons, averaging a career-best 15.6 points per contest during his junior campaign (second Final Four run).

Carter truly cemented his basketball legacy in the NBA, starting with his 1999 Rookie of the Year award, as a Toronto Raptor.. He’d shortly after become an 8-time All-Star (2000-2007), average a minimum 20 points per game (regular-season career-best 27.6 in 2000-2001, playoffs career-high 29.6 in 2006) across 10 separate seasons, plus win the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest – all while playing for eight separate franchises.

To no one’s surprise, Carter is a 2024 inductee for the Naismith Hall of Fame. That’s not the only big news Carter recently received, though.

On Wednesday, Carter was announced as the cover athlete for NBA 2K25’s Hall of Fame Edition.

If you’re a gamer like myself, the Carter news has to excite you. You might also be wondering – how does the Hall of Fame Edition differ from the standard edition of NBA 2K?

Sports games tend to offer you gameplay opportunities with historic teams. If that’s the case, you should easily be able to play as Carter.

Former Duke basketball star Jayson Tatum selected as NBA 2K25 cover athlete

After winning his first NBA championship with the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum will become the face of basketball’s biggest video game.

The summer of [autotag]Jayson Tatum[/autotag] continued on Wednesday morning.

After he earned this third consecutive All-NBA First Team nomination, the former Duke basketball star helped lead the Boston Celtics to an NBA Finals victory over the Dallas Mavericks last month. He’ll play for the United States on the Olympic team in Paris this summer, chasing his second consecutive gold medal, and he’ll get to wear Kobe Bryant’s old Olympic number in the process.

Now, as of Wednesday morning, he’ll also be the face of this year’s edition of basketball’s biggest video game.

NBA 2K announced through social media that Tatum would be the standard cover athlete for NBA 2K25. He will also appear on the cover of the All-Star Edition alongside Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson.

The annual release typically chooses a basketball star who helped define the previous 12 months in the league. After Boston won 64 games this regular season and breezed through the playoffs in 19 games, it’s hard to think of anyone more deserving than Tatum.

Tatum joins Kyrie Irving (NBA 2K18) and Zion Williamson (NBA 2K21 Next Gen Edition) as cover stars from Duke.

Jayson Tatum and A’ja Wilson are the cover athletes for NBA 2K25, and in new footage, both athletes revealed the special way they learned about their new honor.

On The Old Man & The Three podcast, guest host Sue Bird spoke with Jayson and A’ja about a number of topics, including being on the cover of NBA 2K. Sue asked them what was going through their minds when they learned the news, and both stories are actually pretty dope.

Jayson reveals that his son, Deuce, was involved in the process, and A’ja shared her hysterically relatable thoughts upon finding out from her agent. (See the clip below and the 36:01 mark of the YouTube video. Warning: NSFW language.)

Here’s part of what Jayson told Sue:

“I actually like got teary-eyed. I kind of cried a little bit. Just because I feel like I’m very blessed and fortunate that when I was younger, I had so many dreams and goals and so many things that I wanted to check off, and it’s like I’m experiencing those things in real-time…”

This is what A’ja shared:

“For me, my agent called, and she’s like, ‘Hey, you’re going to be on the cover.’ And, I was like, ‘Oh, wait. No.’…Like ‘About time, Ronnie. [Expletive] it.’

Jayson Tatum and A’ja Wilson (and Vince Carter!) revealed as NBA 2K25 cover athletes

The Vince Carter cover is amazing.

It’ll be tough for any sports video game to generate excitement right now with the highly anticipated release of College Football 25 coming this month, but NBA 2K is going to try.

The popular basketball franchise revealed the cover athletes for its upcoming NBA 2K25 game, and they include a couple of champions in Jayson Tatum and A’ja Wilson, and Mr. Half Man, Half Amazing himself, Vince Carter.

Tatum is on the cover of the standard edition of NBA 2K25, while two-time MVP Wilson is on the WNBA edition cover. The two are featured side-by-side on the All-Star edition.

The legend Carter is on the Hall of Fame edition cover in a picture from his early days with the Toronto Raptors when he won the 2000 dunk contest, and it’s beautiful.

I feel confident saying that Carter cover is already one of the best 2K covers ever. It could also be a potential tease to something related to the dunk contest, which would be awesome.
