John Wall, Christian Wood, Jalen Green lead Rockets’ ratings in NBA 2K22

John Wall, Christian Wood, and rookie Jalen Green have the three highest ratings among Rockets in the upcoming NBA 2K22 video game.

Point guard John Wall and center Christian Wood are expected to be the best players for the Houston Rockets in the 2021-22 NBA season, according to developers of the popular NBA 2K video game franchise. Players across the league are rated on a 1-to-100 scale in numerous categories, including a frequently disputed overall rating.

The game won’t officially be available until later this week on Friday, Sept. 10. However, that hasn’t stopped a handful of leaks across social media from users with early access. Here’s how Houston’s top nine players are ranked by overall rating, according to the NBA 2K22 team:

  • John Wall, 83
  • Christian Wood, 83
  • Jalen Green, 79
  • Eric Gordon, 78
  • Jae’Sean Tate, 77
  • Kevin Porter Jr., 77
  • KJ Martin, 76
  • Daniel Theis, 76
  • David Nwaba, 76

Wall is a five-time NBA All-Star over his distinguished career, while Wood was on track for a potential All-Star berth last season before his breakthrough year was derailed by an ill-timed ankle injury.

As for the others, Porter Jr. has already made it clear that he disagrees with his 77 rating, noting that he believes he should be in the 80s and ahead of rookies (such as Green) who have yet to play in the NBA.

Presumably, the remaining three members of Houston’s highly touted rookie class (Alperen Sengun, Josh Christopher, and Usman Garuba) will be rated lower than Porter Jr. and the other eight players on this leaked list. Each of those other three rookies was drafted much lower in the 2021 first round than Green, who was taken at No. 2 overall. That helps explain his lofty rating, even with an obvious lack of NBA experience.

The initial ratings list for the remainder of Houston’s 2021-22 roster should be made available when the game officially drops on Friday.

New NBA 2k game to feature Boston Celtics, other 29 teams’ public address announcer voices

The latest edition of the popular video game franchise just got a little more realistic.

The NBA 2k series just keeps getting better in terms of how real they are making their gaming experience, and in that vein fans of the Boston Celtics may notice a familiar voice when they play NBA 2k22 as the latest iteration of the basketball video game will feature every team in the league’s public address announcer per NBC Sports Boston’s Darren Hartwell.

For the Celtics, that would be Eddie Palladino’s dulcet tones recounting made baskets by the Celtics, as well as the starting lineups ahead of tipoff. Fans of the Celtics and the NBA 2k series both will be able to get their first taste of the new game when it is released next week.

NBA 2k22 should be available for purchase with Palladino voiceovers and all other 29 teams in the league’s PA announcers as well starting on September 10.

Jayson Tatum isn’t happy with his 90 overall rating in NBA 2K22

The Celtics superstar has dropped to a 90 overall for the launch of NBA 2K22.

The first player ratings for the upcoming release of NBA 2K22 dropped on Wednesday, and four superstars share the top overall rating in the game. LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant all received a 96 overall for the launch of the game, though James believes both Curry and Durant deserve a 99.

Celtics star Jayson Tatum has one of the top overall ratings in the league – but the recent gold medal winner isn’t thrilled with the number he received.

The NBA 2K team adjusts player ratings throughout the year to reflect each player’s current performance. Tatum’s final rating in 2K21 was a 91, and before learning of his 2K22 rating, he said he felt his base rating should be a 92 for the new year. He was shocked to find out that 2K had relegated him to a 90 overall for the launch of 2K22.

“I don’t know how we keep going backwards. I scored 50 points in the playoffs twice, four 50-point games. Tied Larry Bird’s record. 27 a night.”

Tatum also predicted that by the end of the season he’d be rated a 95 overall in 2K22.

Lakers’ LeBron James reacts to Steph Curry’s rating in NBA 2K22

LeBron James thinks Steph Curry’s 96 rating on the new NBA 2K22 video game should be higher.

Whenever the player ratings for the latest edition of NBA 2K drops, the basketball world responds with a flurry of reactions. Prior to the launch of the NBA 2K22, some player ratings were revealed for the upcoming video game, including Steph Curry’s.

The two-time Most Valuable Player earned a 96 rating in the game, which caught the eye of an All-Star from the Los Angeles Lakers. When Slam Gaming’s Twitter account asked about Curry’s 96 rating for 2K22, LeBron James responded.

The four-time NBA champion believes Curry’s rating should be higher than 96.

Via @KingJames on Twitter:

During the 2020-21 run, Curry led the NBA with 32 points per game on the way to his second scoring title. The seven-time All-Star shot 48.2% from the field and 42.1% from long distance, along with adding 5.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest.

Curry joins Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant and James as the game’s highest-rated players at 96. Curry and the rest of the group at 96 might have something to prove to get to 99 when the new NBA season starts in October.

Every NBA 2k22 player rating we’ve seen so far including LeBron James, Kevin Durant and more

NBA 2k22 player ratings are finally here

It’s about that time of year again. We’re in the doldrums of the offseason. The NBA draft is over and NBA Summer League is just wrapping up.

Now, it’s time to dive into an NBA tradition like no other: Complaining about the player ratings on the latest version of NBA 2k. It happens like clockwork. Player ratings drop, fans from the team see the ratings, fans from the team complain that 2k hates their player and then, BOOM, the season is here.

That’s where we are now and we’ve finally got some of the 2k ratings in. NBA 2k just dropped some of the ratings for the best players on the game.

Some of them are surprising. Some of them, not so much. Almost all of them will be controversial for every fanbase in one way or another.

Here they are.

Trae Young sure didn’t appreciate his 89-overall rating on the upcoming ‘NBA 2K22’

They got Trae’s attention.

Just as NFL players take issue with their Madden ratings seemingly every year, NBA players always think they’re underrated on NBA 2K.

But Trae Young really might have reason to be upset.

Young led the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals before being sidelined and limited by an ankle injury in Game 3. But throughout that playoff run, Young broke out as a legitimate NBA star. So with that playoff performance fresh on everyone’s minds, it would have made sense to see Young get a huge boost in the ratings on NBA 2K22.

That wasn’t the case.

The game’s official Twitter account spent much of Wednesday sharing ratings for the upcoming edition of 2K. Young went from an 87 rating in 2K21 to an 89 rating in 2K22.

And sure, only a handful of players are at 90 overall or better, but the 89 rating did feel like a number designed to get Young’s attention. And it did. He tweeted a reaction to the 89 overall shortly after the news hit Twitter.

The official Hawks Twitter account also took notice.

Of course, these ratings will fluctuate throughout the season, so Young will have a chance to give it a boost. But he probably deserved to start the year at 90. That would have been fair.

LaMelo Ball lands an 84 OVR rating to start 2K22

Should LaMelo be rated higher than an 84 OVR in NBA 2K22?

It’s always a spectacle to see the players react to the release of their player rating in NBA 2K.

No matter what the rating is, players always seem to believe they should be rated higher than they are, but that comes to no surprise.

Today, NBA 2K began announcing some of the top player ratings for 2K22, which included Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball.

To start 2K22, LaMelo will be an 84 overall rating, per NBA 2K’s Twitter page.

Safe to say that we’ll be waiting on LaMelo to react to his rating via social media.
