The Dallas Cowboys will hold their daily practice on Thursday after having a scheduled day off Wednesday, according to Mike McCarthy at his morning press conference. Sports leagues and teams have been suspending games and practices throughout the nation as a form of protest over the continued killing of unarmed Black people by the police. The latest incident to spark outrage has been the seven-bullet, in-the-back shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the subsequent shooting of unarmed protesters by an armed civilian who then walked through law enforcement vehicles. Wisconsin of course is the state were the new Cowboys head coach was employed for 13 years.
The Milwaukee Bucks set the tone for the boycotts on Wednesday when they refused to emerge from their locker room in Orlando for Game 5 of their playoff series against the Orlando Magic. The NBA soon after canceled the remaining slate of games and other sports such as MLB had a handful of teams sit out as well. The Cowboys will not be taking the day off, though they will continue to discuss things happening in the moment.
